Vetiver. Wood smoke. Wildflowers. Coffee. The sea around Setarco. Salt upon skin. A breeze through a window. A memory I cannot replicate.

I think I heard this man make a joke tonight.

DO IT AGAIN.

Saw Princess Reese and High Lord Victus slug it out in their Rite of Gloria. Unfortunately for me, I was late to it, and missed most of the beginning and middle even. From all accounts it was a pretty severe and grueling match, back and forth until Victus got the last hardest hit in that had Reese submit.

I know from experience Princess Reese is a really tough out, so now I know I don't want to have to slug it out with High Lord Victus without a real good reason. Although I think I kinda knew that already anyway.

Archlector Aureth is readily available, but if anyone has questions about the Queen and Her worship, and he is not available, please, feel free to talk to me. I can't promise bad puns, or even good puns, but I'm working on that part.

Please specify whether you wish to speak to me as a Harlequin of Death or the Duchess of Gemecitta. I think if I get my roles confused, it might get very weird.

Note: Please be kind to your friendly neighbourhood spiders.

Relationship Note on Lianne

It was quite nice to catch up with Lianne... sorry, Marquessa Lianna... the other day. Since my arrival in Arx, she and I have often seemed to be stuck in an orbit that often brought us close to one another, then moved us apart once more. Each time we have spoken, whether in person or via messenger, we have found that we have many unlikely commonalities. Looking at us, one might not expect us to be similar at all... it is kind of amazing how often we can easily relate to one another.

I hope this time our orbits will remain closer a bit longer. I look forward to talking with her more.

It's nice to see the new Shrine of the Queen of Endings officially dedicated. (Or dead-icated, ha ha.) Apparently I'm not the only one glad to see it opened; I brought Octohopper and I think she's decided to spin a web and live there. I'll be a bit sad to see her go, although honestly it's probably a better place for a spider to live than the Whisper House. Plus it's not too far away from the Shrine of the First Choice, so it'll be easy to stop in and visit her there.

Once, you know, I find her. I mean, she's big for a spider but the Shrine isn't exactly tiny, either! I tend to assume nobody is really reading my journals but just in case, if you're by the shrine and you spot a spiderweb with a prismatic jumping spider in it, if you can send me a messenger with their approximate location in the shrine that would be very much appreciated.

The Lord Commander of the Iron Guard held a lovely yard sale, distributing various bits of old clutter. There was a great rush as people dug through a chest full of knicknacks (that was uncomfortably stuffed with animal plushies), and I came away with an odd skeleton figure. Perhaps Duchess Dafne would like it, if she does not have one already? But I was also able to get a nice chest with a flower pattern to store some of my accumulating clutter, and the whole thing was for a good cause, so well done, in the end!

Arx has been pretty quiet lately. Honestly, I found more work during the Siege than after. I never expected the lawyering life to be glamorous, but I'm starting to miss the excitement of the Silent invasion. A scrivener's life isn't usually the stuff of legends, after all.

I HAVE A DESK! A good one, anyway. And a nice bar set, from Silas himself! I'm so so happy! ...Probably shouldn't have spun Aiden around, though. Oh well.

Picked up some things. I'm satisfied with what I managed to find for the most part. Now I can complete the set that I've been working on.

I saw my first duel today.

I'm told having Champions fight duels is quite common amongst other Oathlands ladies, but I was never your typical Oathlands lady I suppose.

It was a touch strange at first, seeing two warriors raise live steel to one another outside of mortal combat.

I suppose if I look at it as an issue in the pack, it seems more familiar. Two hounds settling a matter of dominance through a fight. Though even then, they rarely fight to draw blood, so as to not make the pack weak.

In the end, they both put for a good showing to Gloria, and for their Houses.

The duel between Victus and Reese was quite a sight to behold, and totally worth watching.

Along similar lines, I think I might start charity betting on these sorts of non-honor duels more often. Whoever loses the bet pays to the winner's choice of charity. It worked well this time.

Amusing to read all of the grumbling about weddings while I'm working with my brother on negotiating them. I suppose I have no grounds to lecture others on not getting married, but I have my reasons, and Kennex has no shortage of young unmarried men and women.

I have decided double efforts in the next month in achieving my goals. I have also made the promise to myself to spend what little time I do have to myself in the company of the people that come to enjoy the city. What is a life if there is not just a bit of joy in it? I might even attend some of these parties and gatherings that seem to be happening in the city.

Relationship Note on Reese

She can take a hit and dish it out with the best. Princess warriors aren't something I've seen a lot of, but if they were all like her we'd be getting shit done left and right.
