With all these marriage arrangements happening between the Great Houses, it reminds me that the responsibility of a good match for Cassius and Lydia falls upon my shoulders. Oy vey, and what of my own? Mother still sends me missives weekly, asking after my romantic ventures all the way from Stonedeep. And, my grandfather had the -nerve- to say he doesn't blame her for not being able to convince me to consider any of my suitors more seriously. Pfft. Marriage. Pffft. Maybe next year.

Writing down my burdens on paper, and letting them float away as ash on the wind was more freeing then I would have thought. I hope to face the Spring with renewed confidence and less sorrow. I know my departed father and siblings would not want us to let what happened to them keep us weighted down.

The Little Knight Errant: I think it's rather common for people to look upon ladies that are small like Alis and myself and underestimate us at every turn. There's been several times that we would speak and no one would hear us - even when we shout, they are deaf to what we have to say. We made an oath to let our actions be our voice, our results be our words. I will admit, I do not pray as often as I probably should and nor do I visit the Shrines. The last few nights since the news of Baron Sadoletto Saik I have burnt sage herbs and incense from the sill of my window. The candle set between them burns throughout the night, and since I found myself watching it until the wick is smothered by the pool of its wax. The Greens mourn, and I feel myself despairing for not being home.
Baron Sadoletto Saik was a well-loved leader, and I know he is sorely missed. May he be remembered in the hearts of those who knew him closely, and the thoughts of those that admired him. May he rest.

Everyone's spirits seemed to be lifted during the party where they burned the parchments they'd written with their heaviest of burdens and watched it turn to ash - mine certainly was. This winter has been the hardest yet, but tonight reminded me that the world is still full of things to cherish, of things that still makes me smile. It doesn't matter what the coming days may bring, I'm ready to face it and smile when I conquer it - hopefully there'll be the death cry of a shav or two in all that conquering somewhere!

Here is a Prince at least working against the stereotype the North has against Thrax; he didn't outright threaten to thrall me when it was suggested I cross-train and shadow some of his men on his ship. He even approached me to meet later concerning it. Though, he did say that I should stab the first man that grabs me to earn their respect? I guess he has yet to hear the rumor in Northern taverns that I have gelded a man for less. Complete rumor though, that. Completely.

Such a wild child she's become. And yet, I sometimes see in her a little bit of that young girl that I used to teach how to fight. I miss that young girl, but she has become a young woman and she's had a very particular life.
