I was happy to have found my cousins, Narcissa and Mabelle in the company of my esteemed protege Jareth, renown thespian from the Black Rose Theater. Our gracious hosts, Marquis Dio, Mistress Nina, and Princess Valencia out did themselves with the decor.
I did not have the chance to speak with Lady Monique nor Marquis Gaspar, but they were both in attendance as well. However, the familiar face I'd not seen in what felt like centuries, is that belonging to Duke Harlan Ashford. It was so very nice to catch up. He was also so very kind as to invite me to dance, knowing my Inigo is still in Tor.
I believe we redeemed ourselves with a very proper dance where no toes suffered casualties. I cannot say the same for Master Jareth who somehow ended up knocking himself into a lantern and catching on fire. He is fine, thank the gods, but sadly will need a new shirt.
The bidding began and it quickly appeared there were three contenders, Lady Monique, Duke Harlan, and myself. The bids were climbing and the moment was getting intense. I heard a few coughs of surprise when the price escalated. Lady Monique bowed out and its was just Duke Harlan and myself. It seemed like this would be another dance. However, he said something that touched my heart.
"My wife deserves beautiful things."
I could not agree more with him. In that moment, I knew it would be an incredible gift for his Duchess and she is indeed very deserving of beautiful things.
I bowed out of the bidding but am very proud of grand donations this gives to the Liberators.
And if I could be so bold as to suggest "Calista" as a name for the child that will most likely result from this incredible gesture of love... it rolls off the tongue so beautifully.

Relationship Note on Anisha
That one woman can juggle so many things at once is something I can scarcely fathom. I struggle to keep sober and keep in fighting shape, and that's only two things, one of which I'm not succeeding exceedingly well at - the amount of juggling that Anisha Whisper manages is exceptional by contrast. Always perfectly put-together, poised, composed, empathetic, and all the things I fancied for myself when I was young and had lofty fantasies about being 'proper'.
Always a pleasure to spend time with her, when circumstance allows it.

And some of my party came home with such strange animals that sometimes appear more intelligent than they seem. I'm certain it's just a trick my mind was playing on me; though the fossa, I'm pretty sure, harbors some grudge against me. It resembles a cat. The other two, though different counter parts of the same species, are so unlike anything I've ever seen before.
The people there were friendly, and I was able to learn the language of Brightshore during my time there.
I'll talk more about it on the morrow. I do need to save some points for my lecture, after all.

talking in a garden to friends taking in a game of chance and
now here we are partners in a brewery.
While the dead gull has had her troubles and they are plenty
there is one thing it did not have..
It didn't have us. And if there is one thing that I have learned
in the short time we have known one another it is that
together we can accomplish much.
But fuck, we need a new name for the place. Dead Gull...
It just won't do.

Another night and another search of the lowers to no avail. No matter what corner I slip around, no matter the drink drained and the attempt to find where I found her the last time.. ending in failure. Ending in disappointment. The wicked blonde must be found, I only pray that my sister is able to help.
I know not where else to turn for it, This issue..this plague. I need to be free of it. I will be free of it..

The sun, the sound of laughter, the peacefulness of it all; this is why I fight so hard to preserve life. To ensure we can all have perfect moments like that.

I appreciate the people who have spoken to me about giving their troops for protection for the Physicians and Mercy's, above and beyond what good the Knights of Solace will be doing.
Your names are on my list.
It's a short fucking list.
I'd be happy to add more to it.
In related news, Giada is a fucking Gild-send. A good QM is essential to any organization.

Perhaps the traditionalists' attack on the Carnival is one of the factors that has led my mind to drift backward of late and recall something I had almost forgotten.
In the weeks before my sister and I launched our campaign to claim the title that was my birthright, and with it the future of our domain, we spent some time discreetly recruiting soldiers in the granite mountains of Darkwater Isle.
Lady Marina was off with the sailors, playing to her strengths, and I stopped and shared a bottle with a blind old man with a bearded, bandaged face. The sun had fallen behind the mountains and the man was very drunk, but for a moment he seemed to speak in my dead father's voice.
"How could you disobey," my father's voice seemed to say, "the man who brought you up according to a fantasy? Your softness, your fragility... Your feminine grace and delicacy... They'll be the death of me."
I resolved in that moment, passing that bottle back and forth with that old drunk, that I would never allow myself to be weak again.

I was invited for drinks at a friend yesterday but I declined, because I felt I would need a good night's sleep before today's work. I am cleaning the shop and doing an inventory count. Really, it would be very irresponsible to drink before that, it's important not to count it wrong. What if I miss something and then the numbers don't add up?
Oh, and this math book actually has some good use for my accounting, I realised.
Got to tell my neighbor later, I am sure he will appreciate the information, he also has a shop. I will also explain to him the futility of too large stock. That is just money you've spent that does not yield money back for a long time. No, it is better to restock just the right amounts and follow demand. Prices also fluctuate all the time, so if you say, buy lots of metal this month, then you might realise next month the price is lower and you've then actually LOST money.

Frolicking finery blind to mirror's design.
Heart's folly becomes our logic's inveigh,
Chicanery, pure and smiling - Tehom's divine.
Thirteen keys for the sought single door,
Words waiting to soft minds sweetly bait.
Silver tongue embracing verse's lore,
Fools tying their noose with inept prate.
With bait to await, reflection doth call,
The Black Judgement summons you, fear and gall.
Pride's knell, heraldic note of mirror's sight,
A Darkest Rose to broker and bind plight.

Relationship Note on Venturo
Venturo's promise to find employment for former thralls is not only close to my heart, but inspiring. As such, I pledge my assistance to his endeavor. If there is knowledge I can share, a skill I can teach, to ensure the success of such individuals, my time is offered freely. I trust him in this.
