It takes a lot of silver to see the docks around Southport grow and, with that, it benefits those making the journey from both sides of Compact. It will draw in ships from further, fine merchants seeking to use the city before launching themselves into the Lyceum then beyond. For the merchants of Southport, our dear friends as well, this is a fine opportunity to set up within the docks and begin making contacts with lands further than we could have planned before.
With this, we shall all grow and dear thanks must be paid to those who aided in the project. To help Malvici be ready to be called upon and defend the Compact once more.

Hard work pays off. So proud to be part of something as big as Southport's trading port. And the newest tavern that resides there. The team that was put together couldn't have been any better.

My brother came back to the city. I haven't seen him in several years! I had actually thought he was dead! But no, he was off being drunk and doing whatever it is he does. You know it's been too long that he didn't realize it was me! Then again, last time he saw me I was still considered a kid. I don't know what to think. Part of me wants to hug him because I actually looked up to him when I was a kid. Another part wants to punch in his stupid smile for leaving! He's an ass.

I've not had much opportunity to get ahead on some of my own goals but it has been quite pleasant to see some fruit from work behind the scenes in helping others accomplish their goals. I am hoping that perhaps things will slow down enough that I can get my feet under me and move forward.

I hear a lot of rumors, some louder than others. The one in particular I can't wrap my head around is how an entire noble House is bent to ruin the reputation of a single commoner. I thought we were beneath their notice and all that? Isn't that why commoners' challenge to nobles go unanswered? We raise a fuss and it's down right -crass- to give it attention? Who'd have thought, years of cultural tradition just thrown aside because someone got their knickers in a twist over the opinion of a 'nobody'.

Relationship Note on
Lianne
It is my honor to accept appointment as Marquessa Lianne's Voice for House Malespero.
I would at this time commit to the archives a reminder of what she has done for the March of Nilanza. Who among us can say that they have transformed a city poorly governed, beseiged, and divided by civil strife into a peaceful paradise? Marquessa Lianne Malespero is accomplished in countless ways: physician, patron of the arts, theologian. She sought this challenge when she did not need to, when others happily - some might say wisely - turned away. More, she succeeds where few could.
We thrive under Marquessa Lianne's leadership. As her Voice, I look forward to further strengthening the relationships she has built with you, our good peers in the Compact.

I swear to the gods, everyone is fighting giant killer crustaceans except for me. Is there any justice in this world? Anything right at all?

Ever since I started to venture out more often, as Mia believes I need to be more 'sociable', I've had this unshakable sensation that I might be boring or that I never have a great amount to add. I can never tell if that's a good or bad thing, you'd think you get old enough and you stop caring about that kind of thing. It only bothers me slightly, I think. Enough that I write the musings down. Or it's a side effect of being old and wondering how much one has left to contribute to the world.

What's been going on of late with the animals out west got me worried about the livestock of Graypeak. I'll need to make double sure that we got our good Dogs out to those farmers and whatnot to help where they needed.
And if anyone - anything - ANYTHING threatens the well-being of my Dogs -- well --
I'm coming for them.

I feel as though I need to make a goal for myself, Scholar Constance. With you being my witness today - I shall. One day, I'd like to be a prince.
Or, barring that, a well-dressed fop.
Oh. Wait.
Dreams do come true.

So I got married, Scholar!
Archlector Hamish married me, which was nice. Um. Not like that. I mean he witnessed our vows.
For once in life, I'm truly happy.
Normal service will be resumed in... well, probably the next time some silk swans in where they ain't wanted. But there was a silk at the shrine who was happy for us and wished us joy, and she got invited to the party. I sent her a proper letter saying so and everything.

Well, tonight was horrible.
I never want to hear a sound like that ever again in my life.

Something drove us both to say something, that it was at Death's Shrine was fitting to us both. A noblewoman, one that Raymesin was actually -nice- too, bore witness and it was quite by accident. She was patient and polite and wished us well, and between her and Blessed Hamish I felt suitably seen. No change of names, simple vows that are far from small. This was for us.

Quite by accident I stumbled upon the wedding of Raymesin Ulbran and Tanith Grayhope when visiting the Shrine of the Queen of Endings today. It was a short, simple ceremony, but the love I saw between them was as grand as any ceremony I've been witness to. I wish many years of joy and prosperity to the happy couple.

I suppose it is rather odd, isn't it? Getting married in Death's Shrine. Stranger still that it doesn't feel that way to me.
Scholar. Why are you looking at me funny?

Had a somewhat Malvici party at the Hundred Cities Inn this evening. Proved entertaining, as did the stories that ensued. Nobody can say Malvicis can't drink. Or if you talk to the Sword, be fashionable...Or something.

Rukhnis has me on a steady diet of bone broth, eggs, cooked vegetables drenched in butter and salt, and some fruit from Southport or the Ashford orangery in the evening. She and my cousin Clara have also concocted two types of tea that help to reduce inflammation: one with some manner of stimulant for the morning, and the second meant to relax my body in the evening.
I've been walking around more, even returned to training with Leonce. My body's still stiff, and my strength has not returned, but I'm feeling better everyday. Such are the benefits to living with two skilled physicians.
With time away from marital training, I've sought to develop my investigative skills. Lord Bedivere Whitehawk has shown me various techniques for searching the archives, and even ways to systematically examine the environment to deduce information from what is or is not found.
My senses have reawakened under the training of Count Giulio Corvini. The time in captivity was alternating periods of intense physical suffering and dreadful rumination, and it had dulled my senses considerably. Count Giulio has give me techniques to return my attention to scents, hearing, touch, taste and sight. He has regenerated the animal inside that the shavs attempted to beat into submission.

To visit the Baroness Hope Chantreuxe-Devirre of Brindleberry Wood has been a unique and singular experience. I can certainly see why it is spoken of in hushed whispers with reverence. To be the guest of honour in her annual ball more-over so, and I hope the hermits of the Brindleberry Wood think fondly of me. I shall endeavour to sing their praises, and to see to it that her generosity is not forgotten. Her name is apt, and I am sure I will find others that she has an interest in meeting - and who would be interested in meeting her.

Leola
Dame Leola gifted me this very pretty dress. Now I need A. a place to wear it to and B. weather to warm up so I won't be cold and C.a nice gift to give in return. I'm crap at this kind of thing.
My brother Olivian gave me a necklace to match it too. So I gave him some oakhide. To be fair, it was to trade for something else, but still. Enjoy little bro.
