It has been so long since I have designed anything for myself; perfumes, jewelry, clothing, daggers... I find myself staring at a blank page and wondering... Who am I? What could I adorn myself with to reflect who I am to other people. Who is Mirari Corsetina? What has she given to this world? What is her essence? What do I etch into mirror-silver to tell the world who I am. When I look into my heart there is a deep, empty well where love used to live. It lives there no more.

Does anyone have a remedy to remove squid ink? My skin is a deep shade of blue.
I have tried bathing in alcohol and while it has lessened the effect of the ink. It's still there.
I will also pay if anyone can think of a prank that tops this.

I celebrated another birthday this year, among friends and family. We had an excellent time jousting and while I didn't even make it beyond the first round at our little tourney, I was able to win against my sister and Lady Amari later on for fun. Which to be clear, is no small thing. Both are excellent riders, Lady Amari has clearly been spending more time with Baron Norwood.

I think there are two points I would clarify. The first is that obviously I speak from the view of the Orthodoxy on that - there are variations in doctrine, that approach is my own. The second is that there is a difference, I think that you acknowledge, between asking questions for understanding and questioning the nature of something. The Godsworn are there to help guide people, to educate them on what things are with the divine, and the ways of our people - I would encourage all to speak to the Archlectors, the Legates, the other Godsworn in the city - it is a boon to have so many here, to be able to discover all the facets of the Gods from those most learned. It is questioning the nature of things, of doubting, those fundamental truths which gives me discomfort - that is all.

Poetry like that is the reason why despite my love of and admitted admiration for the works of Lord Rysen who I consider a dear friend, I must honestly say you are my favorite poet in the Compact. Because powerful art forces you to examine things you /know/ you know, and look at them with new eyes.
As controversial as the subject matter may be considered, it is true that Freedom means both the freedom to do good and ill. And it is worth examining that some people's freedom has a different worth and scope and cost than that of others. That it is a Choice that mankind makes when one oppresses another or forces another to suffer.
You have a level of insight that I don't rightly know you are often enough credited for. And a rare level of bravery to continue questioning, examining all aspects of that which we hold dear. While I don't believe anyone would consider that freedom and ability to Choose any less sacred or holy, it may well lead others to think more about the choices that they do in fact make.
Perhaps you should speak to Archlector Vayne if you have not yet, because I understand the Mirrormasks are a perfect place for that sort of examination. If you come to a point where you are no longer excommunicated, that is.

I did not design the system, nor, if you may recall, did I say that it was without flaw. But just because something has flaws does not mean it has no merit either. Change, I believe is a viable option. Refining a system is oft better than simply abandoning it entirely.

The harvest of this year's cherry groves has increased over the previous years. The increase in freed thralls that have come to Astarrea to take part in our traditions are to thank for this. They have brought different ideas with them as well as more labor to use, meaning fewer issues with the trees and more hands to harvest the fruits. I have sent word back to Vera that she should expect to see an increase in price per bushel to make up for the additional labor used.
The mines have seen an uptick as well. A new charter was granted to a company of entirely freed-thralls and they have struck upon several veins.
At the same time, piracy continues to take its toll. We will have to step up our patrols along the trade routes to compensate, which means a need for additional taxes on the goods that come and go from Astarrea's harbor. That one bears some thought before implementation. Perhaps the new headquarters for the Redwood Mercs will help curtail a little of the lawlessness.

Dame Thena's guidance I'm sure will be missed - though I am certain the Solace will have an able commander in her whenever she is needed. I am also confident that though no doubt he will be different to Dame Thena, as Dame Thena and I were different to those Grandmasters who came before us, Sir Jeffeth will give all that he is to ensuring the success of the Knights of Solace and fighting for the Gods. It is that commitment that is consistent across the Grandmasters of the two orders, and which is so necessary.
