Relationship Note on Hadrian

Who could have guessed your foresight would have both tested and my intended at great lengths. I am not sure I know of any other road to betrothal so filled with tests and uncertainties. Worth it though if might say so and you are far too clever and plotting for your own good. Now I must learn to dance with you from a day to day basis.

This should be fun.

Challenge accepted.

Relationship Note on Cambria

Making changes is not always something that comes easily. Especially when one leaves a home they have known all their life. But this change in the recent days of moving to Mazetti from Sanna has been rather surreal and not in a bad way. My new home has been welcoming and all together warm in my reception among them. I could not ask for more of them. All things considered House Mazetti is something of a gem if I might say so.

Relationship Note on Hana

These last weeks I have truly grown to appreciate the alaricite blade that Weaponsmith Hana forged for me. I asked for no embellishment. Just the gleaming silver color that befits my office.

It is a superb weapon and I could not be happier with it.

I won a birthday joust! Happiest of days to Duke Cristoph, and again... he deserves all the gratitude for bringing such joy on his day.

Grandmaster Thena led the Knights of Solace remarkably well. I hope I can live up to her years of service with just a fraction of how she led so well.

I make no promises concerning having a fraction of her ability when it comes to journal skirmishes however. Perhaps there is some young squire in our ranks who will grow up to be just as feisty as she is. Until then. Have a lovely week everyone.

Business has been god, which is nice, but it's been stagnant as well. Gone are the days of wide swings in work, between the shop and the school everything is so... steady. It's boring.

Good thing there's other blessings come along now.

I have been remiss to post of late, but I suppose that happens. Emilie and Brennan are nearly six months old, and they are adorable little trouble makers. I am very glad for nannies, nursemaids and others who are assisting in keeping our daring duo out of trouble. I can only imagine how much trouble they will get into when they are mobile.

More mobile.

They're getting there, I swear, trying to go so fast. I sort of see why some have more babies - they grow so fast!

We have had to fire our herald. I feel a bit badly about it because he seemed like a good sort and was very good with the trumpet, but he just kept getting names wrong.

Relationship Note on Baltus

Another beautiful evening in my Hart.

A game of chance with Lord Baltus of Darkwater, whose charm, good nature and clever wit I am growing rather fond of, was such brilliant fun. Much to my delight, by the end of the evening we had the most excellent company of Lady Thea, Lady Kaia, Princess Reese, Count Graham among others join the festivities as well.

It was such a perfectly wonderful night. One I hope will be repeated many times over.

Relationship Note on Preston

I cannot speak on the grounds of Faith and religion, for I have not devoted myself to its study, nor have I sworn my life to them like Grandmaster Preston has. Yet something he wrote in his last entry made me consider the nature of questions, and I find I disagree on a minor point.

To deny the existence of the Gods would be foolish indeed when they are all around us, when we exist in Aion's Dream. Yet is to ask questions on their nature, on their being, subject to the same interdict? How can we understand Them better if we do not ask questions?

How can we understand the role of the King and our most ancient and venerated institutions if we do not ask?

None of us are born with innate knowledge. All must be learnt. To simply be told that this is Mangata is not enough to understand Her, to see Her in the waters of the sea and the winds of the storm. One must ask a thousand and one questions, as an adult if they were never asked as a child.

I suspect Grandmaster Preston did not refer in his entry to questioning as I framed it. Perhaps he instead meant the kind of questioning that serves not to dispell ignorance but instead serves to make a point, the questioning that is more weapon than any other tool. I cannot speak for the man, however, having never met him. Still, I believe the nuance must be made.

To question can be beneficial and indeed necessary, depending on the intent.

I was never really an avid jouster; my interest in it would be considered superficial by some, and they would be right. In practical terms, one isn't going to use a lance in combat for the purposes of unseating an enemy horseman. There is too much chaos, the movements too small, and it's rare anyone will be riding their horse in a straight line, let alone an opponent doing the same.

It is, however, something that some might say is expected of me, but they can say whatever they like. Traveling on the roads, I would say I am at best out of practice with a lance. I prefer using much shorter militant arms when I'm riding, and the close confines of a mounted combat typically require such.

The only reason I'm doing it today is because I appreciate House Laurent for their honey, especially with Lady Mabelle gifting me with some in the past.

One does hope Duke Cristoph appreciated it, because my back most certainly did not. My pride can stay on the ground where it fell.

We all wear some sort of mask. What kind is up to you. The question is, how often do you allow people to catch a glimpse of the real you? That person behind it. I'm slowly allowing small glimpses of myself to be seen. I suppose we'll see who can see the difference.

The call of the seas and the freedom they offer is all the more enticing when one has a caravel to sail upon. Sometimes I wonder why I linger in the capital at all.
