It's starting to err dangerously close to my birthday. It's never something I never really cared to celebrate when it comes down to it. Never believed I had the right.

Still don't think I do. At this point it's just a sign I'm getting older, slower, and more grey. It's enough to make me cranky.

Some may already know after seeing me at the wedding reception (not mine), but... I am now back in Arx for some time. I soon hope to catch up with my fellow Knights of Solace as well as help out with any family matters I can.

I have had so many chances of late to step in to different roles and masks that are shed and picked up as easily as an uncorseted gown. Too much activity and things to do to be afraid. Or even much catch my breath. My nights are filled with creating stars and making flowers bloom under my fingertips and finding pleasure where I can before my work calls to me again. Sometimes I wander in the snowy nights to hear the quiet that blanketing of snow provides, just to let my mind rest. When I catch my reflection in a window or mirror of late, I often wonder, who is it that I will be today? What will I become? Who do I want to be? Sometimes when so many things are weaving and unraveling and unfurling around me, I have to remind myself to breathe, and to hold fast to those I love.

Relationship Note on Evaristo

People may wish something more substantial, but others may only want an ear to listen to them, without judgment or betrayal.

Both, and the permutations in between, help in their ways; it is left to you to find what is needed for the one seeking your aid.

Somebody accused me recently of not having any hobbies. I do have one, in fact.

I collect candlesticks.

The snow has kept me inside, so I've been writing letters instead of visiting the market as much as I desire or with others I wish to refresh my acquaintance with. My sister Ava and her husband are still content on their farm and have welcomed another child into their lives, a little boy they called Rupert. I should get out of the city once the spring thaw is genuinely underway and visit with them. I'm confident that Ava would be pleased to see me. Perhaps I won't even write ahead of my visit and make it a surprise.

I attended a most enjoyable gathering with my countess and lord patron at the Mazzetti estate a couple of nights ago. It was an evening filled with Ostrian brandy and spooky stories told by three very different and intriguing storytellers. Lord Theron went first and treated us with a more traditional ghost story. My patron, Lord Asriel, then gave us a recounting from his past that was terrifying. I shall never see cats the same ever again! And then the Lady Braith finished the evening of stories with a snowy tale from the northlands that proved to be a lesson as well. Our host was most gracious as well and it was all around a pleasant evening spent in new company.

Papers, papers, and more papers...notes and more notes. Training. I swear I haven't forgotten anyone.

The Crown is always looking to hear about any improvements required and ways to continue keeping the city safe, clean, and productive.

With that said, I promise the city is safe from seaborn attacks. We try to avoid opening fire on friendly ships at port with the understanding to accidents may occur due to unforeseeable issues such as illness.

The last few days have been truly exhausting. However they have also been enlightening in the fact how quickly people have together. What was already a bad situation could have been far far worse...I'm learning more here in the city than I ever thought I would.

I was sorry to have been unable to attend the night of story telling hosted at the manor, but it does please me to discover that those who were able to make it enjoyed themselves.

To clear up any confusion there may be out there (due to the classified ad which was posted everywhere): I still live in the same abode as I did before.

Winner Dinners have been a slow go, though, as I have been sorting myself out through so many life changes. However, I would like to start catching up with everyone I invited.

If we talked about this, or you are just interested in a Winner Dinner, please send me your favorite recipes. I am no food wizard, but I do pretty good.

Thank you House Thrax & House Darkwater for graciously hosting the Snowy Seas -- which was great fun! -- and giving away fantastic prizes. I absolutely love my champion belts (x2), my new coat, and the new booze. Thank you so much!

Little spots of humor found in Arx make me smile.

Found a sign outside a boutique the other day that was a warning, it said "wet when raining."

I look forward to finishing my dance costume. Even if I am not overly likely to wear ut for an audience larger than one. I am considering adding bells in addition to the discs, but am undecided. Perhaps I will make several versions with differing ornamentation. Though in truth I have a different muse of late and am experimenting with a venture into menswear with, so far, decent outcome.

I have a much more expensive venture on my mind for myself, as well. Though, like the gown of glass glazed rose petals, the specifics should definitely remain secret until the time is right if one is to maximize impact.

I have decided to finally get better at falconry.

It is a little ironic that I name my 'Whitehawk', have the best falconer in the city as a paramour, a majestic mews built in Hawkhold... and yet I haven't taken any lessons since I was a squire. And back then I wasn't an ounce good at it.

That should change. Hopefully.
