Time.

Never enough of it, it seems. Every time I see my to-do list start to become small... A dozen things get added. Then I throw up my hands and wonder... how am I supposed to have time for all this?

And then I think about Copper.... and then I pout for a moment, and then I remember Hope...

and then...

I know I will just have to find the time, eventually.

I had the most wonderful teaparty earlier on this week. While I normally wouldn't fill up my journal with entries on such mundane things, for some reason the event really seemed to stir the blood. I think it was the weather, it just did something to me.

Nothing is so fine as to reunite with family - no matter the time apart. Blood is surely thicker than water and some relations are more alike than you may realize. It's been far too long and let us not allow that to happen again, good cousin.

I may have found a new initiate to the Bard's College. Be ready! Now just to drag him there.

Post Script: You did not win.

I attended a most wonderful gathering at the Whisper House today hosted by the lovely Bliss and Gianna Whisper.
I met some lovely people, made new friends, and was even reunited with some old ones.

I look forward to learning more in the arts of etiquette from the respected Whisper Emrys.
Also, I am genuinely considering becoming a non-whisper courtier.
Surely, the House could benefit from such connections.

Ah, at last I have arrived in the great city of Arx, ready to serve my new mistress. I had heard various tales of the place, but stories and imaginings are not reality. It is a fascinating and busy place, different from Setarco and Luciva, different from everywhere else I have been. I am surprised most at how friendly and kind are the people: what is a transaction elsewhere is so often given freely here.

This week I hosted my second tea party.
It was quite lovely.

The peers seem to enjoy them; and, the social connections they bring to the House are certainly a bonus.
I believe I may make of these something weekly.

These days -- the study in the manor is quick becoming my favorite place to be. Not real sure why, 'cause I only read when I'm reviewing some bit of paperwork on another. But, all the same.

It's warmer now.

Not just from the fire blazing from the hearth, either.

Galina and Goofus. Lump.

They're a good bunch. The cool weather's gotten under their skin, pricked their ears, making them noses twitch. They want to go running the woods at the edge of the Gray Forest. Not really hunting so much as herding. We've been talking long walks in those golden afternoons before it gets dark, and I'm scanning the trees while Lump digs and Goof chases leaves and Gal just stands there and scents the air with what I'm swearing is a smile. No hunting. Bird-watching plenty, though. Looking for crows. This might change when I get pick of the next Fine Valley litter. I'd like me a hunter. Which reminds me.

A short while ago, I saw Moxie off to a new home. A good decision I made, I know it, on account of what transpired afterward -- it were a little awkward, but -- that's all right by me. People that like dogs are good people. And anyone that don't? Well, Scholar, you'd best be suspicious of anyone that doesn't.

Because I would be.

It's amazing sometimes what you can learn just by watching and listening.

Not by reading. that's awful. Sorry, scholar.

Day by day it seems to get a little easier. I've managed to get whole days without locking myself in the study and weeping for you and Renatta.

Then Darion does something that reminds me of you and it all comes crashing back. He's definitely your son in so many ways. I hope I can teach him not to make the mistakes you did.

Tonight I learned more about the Minx of the Marches than I ever would have imagined, and I am fairly certain that there is still quite a bit to learn. In fact, I'm completely positive that there are things I don't know and that is probably for the better!

That said, she is a joyful host and an excellent teacher. Whether Lady Greenmarch or Minx is your preference, I am certain that she is going to be someone I am glad to know for a very long time.

My education continues. Once upon a time, I had thought that I was tolerably accomplished in all the necessary arts of a courtier: life in Arx has taught me otherwise, and over my years here I have been blessed to find a succession of tutors willing to help me to develop my expertise. In some cases, wholly new fields have been opened to me. And still, the process continues, with much more yet to learn. It is both intimidating and, to an aging bookworm, rather exhilharating. Even without touching upon all the assorted horrors with which we are threatened, there is still so *much* waiting to be discovered even within a single field of endeavour.

I have spoken recently about the importance of a good cloak. It was not it's object that I was previously aware I held such a strong opinion on. A cloak should impart gravitas, not necessarily to those who view it but the feeling of such to he or she that wears it. To that end, a flimsy cloak will simply not do. Occlude should have whipped it should not blow all around in the breeze, but be sturdy and resilient like those whom wear it
Personally I'm a fan of the heavy woollen cloak with light embroidery, to protect from the wind and rain, with a simple thick clasp.

Achscholar Sina has put out the call internally for assistance reorganizing and filing the stacks. I spend enough time browsing and reading the contents to know what an invaluable resource they are and how annoying it is when someone put something back in the wrong place. My only regret is this I will not be much use in moving books around so I will have to assist in moving people around instead. And of course providing copious amounts of tea (in another room).

Not long ago, I hosted a feast for Bisland, to honor the recent success of our House.
It turned out quite lovely!
I was glad to see many people come and celebrate with us!

The music was great, and we had plenty of drinks and food!
Although, at some point, I was told the entire plate of duck did go missing!
Of something I am sure, Princess Sabella did not look pleased at that.
She will definitely not forget nor forgive those who dared make her wait for that duck.

I was baffled to learn, later on, that the culprit was one of Miranda's retainers.
Apparently, he loved the food so much, he couldn't help himself and took the whole thing with him!
Surely, the faith must have something to say in regards to gluttony and stealing, no?
The nerve of him! I do hope lady Miranda gives him a proper reprimand.

Even so, I do wonder how he ducked the whole thing;
and, managed to pig-out his way past the guards without anybody noticing!
Hmm...something was most definitely fishy.

Clearly, and investigation should be made, it is highly possible one of these men are taking food bribes.
That simply cannot be; someone should definitely start looking for a new job.
I will make sure to get to the bottom of this!
