Maelstrom is quiet. But I think that I needed some. Though I miss my atrium and Astrids battlecry. Too much to do here as I meet with artisans, suppliers and artists who are making their way to plan and provide for the renovations. The chance to be some small portion of the estate in the city and the exposure brings many to vie for their chance.

What a lovely few days with unexpected boons. I suddenly find myself with a kind patron who's also given me the encouragement to keep my head in the clouds, that the perspective is one that allows me to see things others more grounded might not. I have new people who I hope will become friends or even kindred spirits. And I've met the King, and didn't get exiled for making a fool of myself. A fair cousin has joined our household as well -- a merry welcome to Elora.

Relationship Note on Ouida
My dear sweet, sister, in law as she may be has proven herself adept at adapting to Arx. I think we all miss Fair Harbour but she has taken to the city with such aplomb I could not be more proud. She has been a boon to myself and her brother, one can say that the Sword of our house has more than the right amount of compassion and intelligence to wield it.
I know for certain she will only wield it when time calls for it and never before. Daily she wields her charm and of that Harthall has an abundance and she a glorious flower amongst the garden to help it shine in different seasons when the others have faded.
Ouida will only serve to help us rise and I will be glad to stand beside her.

I miss sleep. With all that's going on at the Lodge, I get a few, short hours in between to lay my head down and see Magpie and Pie. When I do finally get to sleep, then it's full of nightmares.
I gotta agree with my Partner, though. I know the simple truth is that we're going back; because she will and I'll be there to protect her, if at all possible. And we'll be more ready next time. But I'm in no hurry to get on with it.
Being able to sleep through the night first would be nice.

I met the King of the Compact this week.
Merely out and about exploring the city, at one of the higher-recommended coffee-houses in the wards, and what should I see but a great passel of knights in armor a-gleaming, watching over his Majesty his very own self, taking drinks with a young ladyship of another new House. His Majesty gave me worthwhile (if not cheap) advise on drinks to be had, and gave blessings to the new Count and Countess of my new home and fealty. Which was past kind of him.
I suppose it might be this is the kind of thing that can happen in Arx.

I received a most beautiful gift from someone this week and I wore it a bit earlier than I was supposed to. I hope that he doesn't mind it too much, but I couldn't wait. It was a wonderful pick me up after the past few weeks.

I was so glad to hear that Prince Laric's trip to the Mourning Isles was successful! I would have loved to go except for the boat ride and then the whole being ready for this baby thing. Considering how sick I was in the beginning, I can't imagine my seasickness would've been any better. Though maybe because this baby is half Kennex it would've been better? Though Prince Niklas gets just as seasick as I do, so perhaps it would've been three times as bad, one for each of us?
In any case, I am quite glad it went so well and happy to see everyone back home!

I loved the birthday party for your twins - I apologize for not paying more attention to the two small ones, but I got quite busy with all the other adorable toddlers there. It was wonderfully chaotic, fun and terrifying at the same time - but I did enjoy myself immensely.

Several days later, and I am still feeling the bite of the Crimson Wolf.
Is there anything better to shake off the langour of too much time within the walls of a keep, counting one's sums and minding one's correspondence than a bout with an opponent of superior skill and strength? Not much, to this Oathlander. Though keeping company with beautiful ladies and charming lords, as I have also been privileged to do in the last week is a very close second.
There are those who will day that they only truly find themselves in battle; I have known, and loved, and served alongside many of them. I will not the deny the beauty of unchaining the beast within, to feel every part of you, every sense, every breath, every beat of your heart, all more alive than every before as you not only try not to die, but cut those before you down. On the sands, we have the opportunity to lengthen our leashes, and it is good for the spirit and the body.
So too, I hear, are the baths in the Grotto, of which I believe I will partake in tonight, to soothe the aftermath!
