Relationship Note on Titania

Oh, my dear dear sweet child...
It really upsets me every time I hear about any young people dying...

But you were always so sweet, my dear... And I haven't met you enough since you left the house. I should had tried harder...

I'm making a tea contest.
I don't expect a lot of people to participate, but it can be fun and help me to find new flavors.

To participate people just need to send me their ideas for new blends.
I'll try which works best, maybe I'll choose a few, and I'll give that blend their name. And send them a pouch. And probably a small present too.
It can be fun.

I should make a small event to say who won.
Maybe a nice picnic, summer is coming.

Relationship Note on Titania

I remember the day we met so very well. You arrived in the courtyard and we began speaking. Our conversation moved as did we, and at last we were in the Hall of Heroes. You told me stories of your adventures, you inspired me.

There were possibilities to make a real difference with my lives, my actions, my words. Recently arrived in Arx from a war that haunted me, you were a beacon of hope. Your words reminded me that there were things I loved even still, that war had not taken. And your devotion to Mangata began to stir my own.

We did not spend a lot of time together, I should have sought you out more, I have been saying that a lot lately. But the time we did have, that is something I will cherish the rest of my days, as I will cherish your memory.

Thank you. Thank you for being my friend, and thank you for being you, because you were amazing. May your next turn round the wheel be as amazing as you are my friend.

Relationship Note on Tomwell

Tonight the Faith of the Pantheon will be welcoming a man whose heart recommends him as a priest of warmth and compassion. I could not be prouder to stand with him as he comes to this point in the journey of his life.

To new beginnings.

To learn you have come,
But know you should well,
That knowledge here waits,
Still under a spell.

And find you the key,
And find you the guide,
Four guardians meet,
Where knowledge abides.

Bring hierophant's blood,
Or druids to learn,
Thus into the heart,
Your way you shall earn.

For this is the start,
Where wisdom was left,
'Fore secrets were hidden,
'Fore druids were reft.

And waiting here still,
The elements live,
For hierophants new,
Old knowledge to give.

Relationship Note on Sunaia

Welcome to the city, cousin.

It is not as bad as you might imagine it to be, and close enough to Ashford and nature in general to make exploring none-too-difficult. I have even been able to manage it, buried in duties as I am.

Panem et circenses...it's so easy to be distracted by our diversions or securities that we miss the bigger picture. I sometimes wander what piece of the picture that I am missing. What diversion has distracted me from my path.

Relationship Note on Rinel

Grief goes on exactly as long as you let it, like standing under a waterfall at the edge of a very deep pool. Don't let it swallow you whole. There's work to be done, and productivity is the antithesis of drowning in sorrow. The time to climb out of the water will come sooner rather than later, and there's nothing that stops the chill of that water like the light of a worthy cause.

Part of my task as a priest of the Pantheon -- and specifically as Archlector of Death -- is to spend time getting to know the memories of the departed that I have never met, or if I've met them, never known them well. It requires interviewing people, viewing their public writings, and thinking seriously on their lives and their legacy. I do this because I think it is important to eulogize people according to their lives, so that their friends and loved ones can have funereal rites that are written specifically with them in mind.

It's an interesting exercise in human empathy. I recommend it to any who find themselves in a place to speak about the recently deceased.

The news of what happened to Lady Titania has just reached me. I am going to need time to process it. I hope she still lives, I hope she might yet be rescued, but I do not know from where or from how. I pray someone does. We will all have lost a kind and noble soul otherwise.

** Written in Faruq's overly loopy and flowing handwriting **

My first few weeks in Arx have been interesting to say the least. Near a month on now, barring the occasional foray to deal with pirates, and I can tell there is a pressure building in the air. The mood grows tense in so many circles with people both mourning the seeming rash of deaths that have occurred recently and preparing themselves for more.

It gives the city an air like it is on the eve of a momentous battle but I have heard of no armies marching upon the city or Compact.

Maybe I am being overly sensitive but it feels like something is coming.

Something big.

I hope I am wrong.

Relationship Note on Titania

Countess Titania will be greatly missed. My prayers and thoughts go out to her husband, to her child and to her family in Kennex. Countess Titania was a woman of rare beauty. She was a being of the sea. Grayson was extremely happy and honored to have her join our faction with her marriage to Count Fireviper. Her husband I remember loving and cherishing her much. Countess Titania was present at the fight for Maelstorm. That battle was a bit ago at this time. She had got a cobalt bow and that was was well deserved. She frequently was around us Graysons who went to that battle and I felt much more comfortable around Maelstrom because of her welcome. She lead us through the grounds and she knew the ruins like nobody else. Despite being a woman of the sea, she was eager to join our Gray Forest Mission and helped us to keep the forest safe. Titania was a good woman, strong, wise, calm and a survivor. She switched families at a time of conflict and duress, continued on and landed on her feet. I am sorry to hear of her passing as I am sure that many others are as well. I am sorry that her child will not grow up to know her, but I if I am around, I will sure I share the stories of her.

"Rehabilitation." A word I have come to dread. The Mercies at the Training Center are experts, of course. And as a physician I well understand the necessity. Still, the pain and embarrassment--and for what? To walk without a limp again will be a miracle, to say nothing of running.

I miss running. I miss Maman and Papa. I miss Pacton.

I miss her.

How long does grief go on?

Relationship Note on Barric

People are writing their memorials of Lord Valerio and Prince Barric.

I never had the pleasure of knowing Lord Valerio. From what is written in the whites, I think I would have liked him.

As for Prince Barric....

The Prince Barric I knew was complicated. We sparred some - he was seeking to master every weapon, I needed to focus on other things, and he was willing and able to help. He handled himself with the certainty of a man who does not doubt who he is. A core of... Integrity. He had his honour. And he had his goals. And that was enough. He could be brusque, but not, I think, mean-spirited in intent. Just very firm on his convictions, whatever they were.

He kept meaning to talk to me about the Gold Order.

We never got to have more than one such conversation, and he had to leave too soon, due to duty.

I suppose that's what happened. He left to soon, due to duty.

Gloria welcome him for his courage. The Queen care for his soul.

Thank you, Prince Barric, for all you were.

This woman was quite kind to me, and is a wonderful medic with the Commons Clinic. It is good to know that all people in Arx have access to the medicine as well as the Physicians. I would suggest donating to them, which I don't often do, but medics need all the assistance they can receive to provide all the better for the community.

Relationship Note on Joscelin

I was starting to lose hope in finding a good teacher -- perhaps I should work on my patience -- and then not one, but two appeared before me. Today, Joscelin leader of the Crafter's Guild invited me over and spent the entire day with me helping me learn the ins and outs of metalworking. She told me that I wouldn't be leaving until my smithing would be on par with all but the most skilled experts in the city, and that was no empty boast.

After that, I took my spare funds and went and hired a weaponsmith to craft me a rubicund halberd named Zephyr. With it I came within inches of beating Holt, a man I could hardly scratch days before. Things are turning out pretty nicely.
