I enjoyed hearing my fellow musicians play in the musician's tourney. I wasn't entirely certain how such a contest was going to work, but it did. Truly, there is so much talent in this city.

Relationship Note on Joscelin

I received the goods I comissioned from Mistress Joscelin for the Gold Order. Her work is, as one almost expects these days, beyond compare. I am eternally grateful to you, Mistress Joscelin.

And you charge too little.

Relationship Note on Oliver

One of the best things about having a shop adjoining my husband's:

I slipped and hit my index finger with one of my bigger hammers. The ensuing (loud) swearing summoned my husband like a creature from Elysium, just to kiss it better.

This is going to make me rotten.

Relationship Note on Liliana

I have the very first piece of my own armour! It is a belt, which is not too protective, but it is the first piece of an incoming set. And it is wonderful - just what I was hoping for. Lady Liliana is a treasure!

My heart goes out to those who are suffering as more families struggle through change.

I'm sure we can all agree how fortunate, indeed how Blessed we are to have the Most Holy Dominus Aldwin, closest to the Gods, to navigate through these situations when it is required.

I remain eternally grateful.

Relationship Note on Edward

Small animals, Edward?! No, never! I am still deciding whether I would like a DOG or a BIRD and I would never! Although if you're going to make permanent such pithy one-liners I WILL state for the record:

You STEAL all the covers.

Thank you for not burning down the house. Or setting small animals on fire by accident.

Dear Lilith,

Take a deep breath. Hold your head up. Set that chin. You've come a long way and you need to keep strong. You know about tragedy. This isn't new and each time you make it through. You're strong. Sometimes you feel weak and scared but push those thoughts out of your head. They aren't true. You'll survive and you'll move on. Right now it might seem like you can't possibly but you can.

You're back in Arx. You love Arx. Remember hanging out in the Murder of Crows? Remember getting lost in the Crown Ward? Remember losing your map and being too stubborn to ask a guard for directions? You missed dinner but you found that charming little garden. The man even let you pick some berries. That was a good day. Plus you're here with Vera, now. She needs you. You've got responsibilities. You can do this. Keep strong, Lily.

I love you.

Lilith

My brief visit to the Training Center made one thing clear: I will need to train harder in the coming days. If I am to protect and serve that which I hold dear, it needs to be at my fullest potential, lest I return to the Queen with anything less than the certainty of a purpose fulfilled, and service fully rendered.

I shall look forward to the future opportunities to better myself.

Well I have finally unpacked...OKay so I’ve unpacked the important things. Mostly the wine and glasses and my clothes and accessories. But mostly I’ve been exploring Arx. So far I’ve met a few interesting people. And of course there is Arty, who welcomed me on my first day here. Such a doll.

I took a look at the grotto. Came across Lord Cullen there. Iwas quite surprised he hadn’t managed to drop his booze when I found him fast asleep in the pool. But he informed me he was a professional lush. I have no reason to disbelieve him. He’s quite charming as was lady Rosalie who joined us shortly there after. Alas I did not get to speak with the lady Rosalie nearly as much before I had to depart.

There are still many places for me to explore in this lovely city. And of course many darling and horrible people to meet I’m sure. I’m excited.

I never notice the noise when I am there in the forge...perhaps I am partially deafened from years of battle and too many blows to the head?

Yes, that must be it.

It's as often the anvil as it is you getting dents out of your armor from all those dangerous things you do, causing my hair to whiten and myself to be so proud. Unless you die. Then I'm dragging you back somehow so I can yell at you.

Yes yes, fine. My sister is wonderful and sources the very best coffee for us both.

She makes a LOT of noise in the forge though. I hope it's the anvil.

Relationship Note on Olivia

While the Orangery was a pleasant affair overall, I will make special mention of the wine. While I have been left with worse hangovers following festivities, I had never experienced a hangover on so little wine until today.

It's as likely that I am getting out of practice, though.

Spent some time traveling in between all the madness to clear my mind, get a handle on what is important to me. I feel the vow I took to uphold the virtues of a knight is one of the three most important vows I've made in my life. It is an oath I will gladly carry until the end of my life, and that will require me to struggle with who I am so that I can be true to it. A struggle that will also be life long, but there is a certain peace in that acceptance.

I also had time to work on more awful puns and jokes. Apparently those are the two halves of my brain of late, duty and comedy.

Day 4 of being stationed at the murder.

We held a mock trial in the center of the room after a curious case of a missing ball of yarn. Initial challenges was finding a child who wasn't going to use the little wooden 'serious-time' hammer to hit his fellow or bang on the table at random. I as an impartial judge, did not feel the right of the serious-time hammer fell to me. Also it was a good lesson in judgement and justice for them to carry into their later days.

After evidence was rounded up, it was promptly discovered that the ball of yarn was stolen by a nearby stray alley-cat. The cat was very mean. None of us felt brave enough to go get it, so it is now the alley-cat's property.

I publicly apologize to little Veron, your innocence proven makes your time-out judgement unfair and a disgusting abuse of our court.

The Baron's Muse is truly every bit as engrossing as Countess Mia proclaims. The beauty in the prose and the slow unwinding of the plot makes it more than a casual novel. The pointed social commentary braided through the narrative in itself says something -- a reflection of Arvian society, the mores of the nobility and gentry compared to their surroundings. Each careful turn of the page opens a deeper sense of brewing social troubles and beyond the cares of a landed noble in the lowest tiers. Here is a skillful bit of storytelling wrapped around something deeper and richer.

I have half an idea where the story may be going, but it defies convention on how it achieves it. Storm Knight/Storm Night, I applaud you for your skill and telling thus far.

Here's waiting for the next manuscript to land in Lady Monique's cares. No doubt some are blessed to know the outcomes in advance!

Naturally waiting is something akin to a special form of torture. Alas.

Found myself in a trove of books, may well be named a bookwyrm at this rate. Should I be lost after a certain period of time, send any personal effects or cares to Kenna Whitehawk.

Sleep is truly overrated. Books? Yes.
