Today I took on Lady Medeia Saik as my protege. This will lead to many--amazing collaborations to come. She is a force to be reckoned with once she gets going. I'm more than certain I'll learn just as much from her as I hope she'll learn from me.

Having gotten back from my brother's pilgrimage, I would like to say..I learned so much. From every stop(Where everyone was most welcoming), from every person that attended. We even went pearl-fishing off of Pearlspire. We ran into pirates. I mean, it was quite the adventure. Nothing like what I expected. I'm so honored to have sailed with these people. Even Ravna. Who spent his time not sober. I'm not sure how he did it. But he did it. Not falling overboard. Not even once. I came home with a new sense of peace. A sense of serenity that I feel I've been missing for quite sometime.
All in all, I learned what a strong force Mangata is. She is fierce and lovely, as well as peaceful. The sea as always should be respected and if you're not ready to respect her, keep your feet on land.

Taking care of these somewhat adorable parasites and the mother beast makes me realize just how much I want a family of my own. A child.

Poor Micana, my assistant, seems to have writer's cramp or scribe's wrist from all the copying and work on notes and messages lately. I'll have to be more considerate and space some of that work out better for her. Maybe will put her to some research instead for a while.

Fine, I will admit it. Yes, Scholar, I had to buy new sheets today. The old ones were sticky.
It's not what you think, Scholar. Let me explain.
I thought it was a stray cat at first - maybe a little bit overweight and slightly malformed. It's nose was too big and its ears too small. Had maybe been in some kind of accident as its tail was missing all of its hair. Poor creature! I thought. But it was so darling, once you could get over the stench of... trash tuna? Yes distinctly tuna that had been left out in the garbage for days.
So I took it in, and then I cleaned it up. (No the smell didn't go away). It looked very morose actually, with its somehow big but beady eyes.
I retired to bed with my night cap and a good, steamy book about pastry and then it jumped up into bed with me with all the rest of the cats.
And then it rolled over for a tummy rub and idly I reached over to acquiesce, finding the fur stiff and wiry - slightly oily not unlike that of a hound, but on the stomach smooth and soft.
But then.
From a horrific yawning maw in its stomach I felt pour forth fleshy, wriggling, warm life forms. In my panic, my somewhat extravagant and eccentric imagination yielded to me pictures of octopus kittens and fuzzy snakes with clawed feet and nibbly sharp jowls. A pulpy, amorphous tentacled mass, unknowable and truly horrific - a caricature of the sleek and knowable form of a cat. Instinct with fearsome and unnatural malignancy It was not truly unfaithful to the spirit of the mass, as I would come to find out, as when I looked down and shrieked I would realize that in all of my doting affection I had adopted (or had been adopted by)... a possum.
I watched in horror by lantern light as the writhing, wriggling, corpulent mass took form and as I caught sight of each little snoot. 1... 2.... 3... I counted for what seemed like an hour, over and over as each little mouth, when I came close, would hiss and sometimes snap until they got the feel of me.
Twenty.
Twenty little baby possums had ventured forth from the maw and attached themselves parasitically to the creature's spine and head using their tiny claws to wind and twist and tangle their way into the hair of the mother-beast, clinging.
And that, scholar, is why I've had to buy new sheets. The old ones were sticky from the hot toddy I poured all over myself and my blankets during the shocking events.

Given the low probability of survival, especially in instances where the disease has infiltrated all lobes of the lungs, palliative treatment is advised. Collect from the patient names of loved ones or associates who might have been in close contact with them during the course of their illness. Ensure access to clean, crisp air and administer ether as appropriate to alleviate coughing fits and suffering.

Before I took on my current commanding leadership of the Phoenix Brigade, I was commanding Southport's City Guard. I had started a project regarding the land defenses within the city. It was a lot of traveling back and forth, a lot of correspondences. Now however, I can finally say it's completed. I've seen it. It will give our enemies second thought of trying to enter our home. I'm grateful for all the help I received to get it finished!

I've taken on a student, of sorts. A friend's son who has an interest in herbs and healing; poor kid had to watch me do the bone-saw thing on a dockworker who had a crate crush his leg really nasty-like. Yeah, I'm taking him the gentler side of things as well, but if he's going to run with me he better get used to blood fast. I think he'll be fine. He's a tough kid.

The giant skull in Southport Square made a nice little shelter from the gusts of autumn wind for a picnic. Conversation did rather echo a bit depending on where one sat or stood but few can claim having had a picnic in a more unusual spot.

Well, it is official. I am officially ready and willing to entertain offers of marriage for some members of House Farshaw. Of course those interested will need to be capable of marrying into the house, but I am open to discussions for those curious. I look forward to the prospects and potential to build a lasting relationship with other houses through this endeavor.

I am so excited right now I could burst! I will wait to do that, however. Asher always knows how to make me a happy girl. I'm always glad he took a chance on a younger woman without much experience who was in a not great situation. Thank you for taking a chance on me. Thank you for continuing to make me the happiest girl in the City.
