Another story. Unsurprisingly, it's a sad one, the way history repeats itself. It makes you realize the cruelty that it is to forget. Whether by choice, or by theft. When you forget something you betray and abandon your friends. You lose your sense of self. And without a sense of self... what kind of future can you have? This war that continues... it stretches beyond. How can you ever win if you continually forget that you were fighting? Are we doomed only to repeat our past?

Almost finished my preparation for my feast and game night. I am just going over the rules. I still think it took me longer to decide the menu to come up with a design for the trophies. I hope everyone has a good time.

You know what is frustrating? It is frustrating when you make grand plans, but the one person you /really/ need just disappears! Ugh. It's ok. I will just need to find an alternative way of accomplishing my goal.

Are you good at arm wrestling but even better at flexing like a macho person?
Are you good at drinking knights and nobles under the table (most of the time) but even better at being beat in that same regard by Lowers lasses who show up but then you still win a dress tailoring even though you totally lost?!
Are you good at writing as a scribe (but even better at lettering people with 'nonstandard ideas' paired up with rediculous undertones)?
Whether you know the answer to any of these questions (or not) matters not because you can come to the Like-A-Rowenova Feast and Game Night [ @cal 4603 ] -- at the Golden Hart (thank you Princess Valencia!) -- and find out for yourself, or... well, whether you are like myself. Hah! (Do not forget to bring along your like-me letter if you are planning to try to write like me!)
Many thanks and much Love to my Morien Man: the Handsome Host of all this and the very best of future husbands!

Commoner's Rights. This was something that was brought up at the last commoner's meeting. I am not sure I entirely understand what this means. Though, I /would/ like to see if something can be done about rogue guards taking justice into their own hands. We had enough of that underneath the reign of Lyseander Craw. Maybe something can be done to help the commoners of Arx to have a better justice system? Yes, I know the guard may have to use force in certain circumstances. You know if some loony dust-addled goon comes at them with a sword or something. I am glad Commander Silas helped to put an end to the rogue guards that were here, but what if it happens again? I don't want more dead people over minor offenses again.

The jousting tournament was absolutely exhilarating, just the change of pace I needed. It was a thrill to watch Lady Amari and Lady Jael face off, then to witness Lady Jael joust against my father. I thought Papa would burst with pride by the end of it. There were so many other exciting pairings to watch as well.
It was an absolute privilege and honor to compete among such incredibly skilled, fierce competitors in an event to honor Gloria.

The King seems to think that wearing tiaras at a jaunty angle is a thing.
I suppose if anyone is going to start a trend it may as well be him, though!

Lady Emily's First Frost Festival at the Deepwood Grounds was quite lovely! I was able to make it for the archery contest, which Prince Kenjay did a fantastic job calling, and was very impressed with the skill shown by all the competitors!
All in all it was a wonderful time and now I am here, writing this journal and partaking of this delightful cider I got as a gift for attending!

What a wonderful joust that Duke Cristoph held together with Legate Cassandra and the High Lord Alis the other day. The jousters were in fine form, and it was a hard fought battle that ultimately led to Lady Adalyn's brilliant victory.
Rosie was in perfect form as one might imagine, and well-earned the apple that was her reward after. And although I wish I had advanced further than the second round, I can only say fine things about Dame Bree who unhorsed me. Her aim was true and strong, and mine, though it would have likely struck down any other rider in the contest, was not enough in the moment. I raise my lance to her skill.

Hear this:
I prepare a third reaving into the Near Saffron Isles against Gildorian slavers and their allies, to take their lives, take their ships, and free their slaves. Let all those with a ship or a sword and the will to use them send me word.

I'm not one for writing about matters such as this, but I was encouraged to do so by an unexpected provocateur.
Today I managed to find a great deal of bacon at one of the butchers, and I bought the entire lot. Before I knew it, it was cooked and eaten, with several large eggs I also procured along with some fine black tea and, yes, coffee. A small repayment for kindness is the least that I could do for the Grandmaster and the others after what happened recently.
Already I find myself diverging towards that topic, and the look I'm being given is rather startling to see. The lad won't like me talking about his glowering here, but if he's opening up even more, than eventually he'll find that people have plenty to say, and to write, about others. Let this be the first public record that I couldn't be prouder of the progress which Aendal Ferrin has shown since I took him in. You have so much potential in you, and all you need is the will to achieve it.

I have had a vision, a dream... a dream of a beautiful place where there is always music in the air and trade and discourse flow like a waterfall, coming down the mountains. Or what I imagine it looks like. I have never seen one.

I really regret missing the joust! I enjoy watching, even if the atmosphere can get a little... intense, for my tastes. It's good fun.

Work goes apace on the dockyard outside of Arx. I am learning a lot about building underwater. It must be nice to be able to breathe there, do the work without any uncertainty. For now, I only know that the rocks that I cannot see are properly settled if the rocks I can see stay where I want them. It's a little bit of learning as I go and a lot of overcoming setbacks by redoubling one's efforts.

Losing oneself in work is the best remedy for mushy thoughts. Even better when failing the work could be harmful to your health. When you have almost no spare time for thinking about certainty, the time you can spend in thought tends to be crystal clear, unwasted on what may be, or what was, only what is next.

Kaia
Lady Kaia Malvici is truly a lady among ladies. I remember her fondly from youth, before her marriage. She was different then, I almost did not recognize the woman she has blossomed into. Glorious is the only word that comes to mind. She is effortless as she serves a drink. She is refined elegance. I look forward to our next conversation.

I spent time in the Shrine of Vellichor, praying and reflecting on things. It seems strange to say, but as much as I admire Vellichor, still I wonder if discipleship of Vellichor is for me. Since I'm still not sure, I think I will continue my visits to the various shrines, moving on now. It's interesting to think about the meaning of such dedication, service to a god.
It leads me to consider what I want to do, and what I want to be. Where do I want to spend my time?
Why are there always more questions than answers?

War philosophy is something I occasionally find interesting, if only out of idle curiosity. There are a great many things that I would argue about in your journals, all of them pedantic, unimportant, and almost certainly wrong. I feel confident in saying, however, that ideas are every bit as important when it comes to war as physical weapons, and even more important when it comes to keeping whatever such wars gain. Freedom is an idea as well as an ideal, a path as well as a desired destination.
Tyrants do not respect a great many things beyond physical power. It is something that tends to lead to their downfall.
