This is an unfortunately delayed journal entry due to my two little monsters having rashes and starting to grow teeth. Teeth! They are hungry now for barley and milk. A bit before bed seems to help them through the night with the teething pain.
My open house at The Silver Lining was what I would personally consider a huge success. I never once imagined that so many people would show up. I met so many new people who were interested in what I do. I especially appreciated getting to know Baroness Margerie and Lord Kastelon. Thank you to all of you who showed up for the event, and those who have purchased from me in the past - whether it was from the shop or personally. I do so appreciate each and every one of you.

I have been given a great deal to think about in recent days - frankly, more than I anticipated having to, given the nature of things. I look back on some of my earlier entries where I wrote with such passion and fervor, and I wonder where that version of myself got off to.
Merely consumed by other tasks that are of equal importance to her, I know.

Y'know, I have never tried to forge armor with pockets. Armor isn't something I get asked to do often, so it never even came to mind over the years, much as I do like pockets myself. I'm willing to give it a try! I might even have an idea as well.

Five months along, four months to go. I am cherishing every moment that my body still feels like my own, because I know that soon, it will belong entirely to the child and its whims. At least I once more have an appetite. Gods, how I once judged all of the women who wrote about their pregnancies in the Whites. Maybe I was envious. Maybe I'll judge myself later, in retrospect.

Interesting meetings recently. Enough to have me pay attention to the daily happenings in the city, something that has been more difficult of late.
It's been a mixed blessing.
I was glad, however, to learn of Lady Sanya's latest choice. The Liberators' is a worthy cause.

War makes people wicked because, to take part in it, one must harden oneself against all regret, all appreciation of delicacy, and sensitive values. In war, one must live as if those values did not exist, and when many who return lack the resilience to return to those values. It is far easier to breach all mores of society and live like a monster than to reclaim one's humanity and forego the easiest solutions to pressing needs.

Berenice has outdone me again: I had one child, she has had four, and in their infant state they are slightly more endearing than my raging daughter. Three blue kittens, one black, each with crescents or sickles or splashes of white on them.
In a few short months, I shall have to decide their homes. How to determine who is deserving of the spawn of such a haughty queen? It will be something to consider.

I have a new apron and it is one of the most wonderful things I have ever been gifted. The pockets are perfect sizes and the design is amazing. My old one felt apart some time ago and I just never saw to replacing it. This one? I bet will last til I am old and gray. If I make it to old and gray, mind you.

Sometimes it's good to try your hand at something new, and sometimes it's not.
I tried poetry this week. I hadn't intended to since poetry isn't something that I've ever enjoyed, but on hearing of Lady Mabelle's contest, inspiration struck! I thought it four lines of perfection myself, and Ria nearly choked on a nut so great was his surprise that I, /I/ could write something so passionate. Lady Mabelle's reaction was a little less promising, so I shall not pen another poem. It's perhaps for the best.
I have turned my hand to art instead, and tonight sketched the figure of a man emerging from the ocean. Now, as I look at what I drew, he more resembles a squid than anything else.

Another birthday, tomorrow. Another year I've survived. This getting old, it's not half so bad as I'd always feared it would be. I wouldn't say I've wisened with time, but I'm still alive. That's got to count for something.

Many years ago, I wouldn't have thought my life would go in this direction. But I'm happy with the decision I've made. And I thank Master Aleksei for being so welcoming. I hope to be a worthy addition to the Liberators.

My anger is often silent, seething. It sits heavy like an unworked lump of metal waiting to take shape. I look forward to wielding it though I don't envy those to whom this newly forged blade will be directed towards.
