I am just so amazed with the creativity involved in the creation of all of these new fabrics! I don't even know where to start! Well, I started with duskweave because it is absolutely perfect for a dress I had created in seasilk that, while lovely, was never quite colored right and this fabric won't need tinkering at all to be absolutely gorgeous! And honeysilk! I admit I have never quite been a fan of bees--although I adore Duke Cristoph and Lady Mabelle don't get me wrong--but I now wonder if jewelers across the city won't be making some honeycombed theme jewelry to go with this glorious fabric! I can just see a sunny dress is in my future! And the damask!
It looks like a new winter wardrobe will not be difficult to come by this fall!

So much of the family is either out on missions or has returned to Stormward now. It is too quiet in the house now. this makes it easy to get work done, but I kind of want to host a party just to bring some life back to Kennex Kay.

I got to spend time with family and friends today and was reminded how lucky I am.

I find myself continuously surprised by the interest others have shown in my choice to become godsworn. I don't imagine that most of it is really /about/ me though. I think maybe it's about themselves. Not in a way that's self-centered, mind. But maybe, more... asking for self-discovery? I don't know. I think I might be rambling. I was awake a long time last night and I stopped at the tavern for a few pints of ale before I came here. I definitely don't mind the occasional letter written to me about either-- ah, there I go. Still rambling.

I apologise to anyone who might recently have been hoping to snare me - whether for meeting, consultation, or simple chat. Though I do not believe that it is serious, my health has been rather inconveniently troublesome of late. Still, I should - at minimum - be able to respond to missives, if there is need or desire to contact me.

I don't know what Damask is. I am only mildly aware of brocade. I am not so sure that friendship means bringing competing new products to market at the same time. Lady Kaia and Lady Mabelle seem to be the steers of the fashion ship this season.....how long is a fashion season?

I have met new people this week!
...okay, I meet new people just about every week. I'm a merchant, and it's what I do. But some stick out more than others, even though MOST people are interesting if you pay enough attention to them. But I think there's at least one who might be a decent new friend!
Also, I can't help but notice silk markets getting someone depressed with the release of the new materials of late. I might have to re-plot some of my caravan schedules to take advantage of the new demands. And I should probably start working on the third edition, but things are so unstable at the moment that I'm not certain any of my models even WORK anymore. And gathering new information will take months, by which time the situation might have changed completely!
Change is good, so says Lagoma, and so I believe. But it sure is INCONVENIENT at times.

Honeysilk seems to be a success and a terror on the bank accounts of the more fashion-forward and high society enabling houses of Arx. Thankfully, Bisland doesn't pay Kaia's wardrobe bills anymore.

Relationship Note on Harlan
Ashford's First Bovine Grand Prix. The cows were mostly untrained in the art of racing and lacked the will to pursue victory at any costs that include passing up daisies and other wild flowers. Next year, the cows should be better. At least I got to eat a good deal of cheese.

I stayed up all night sewing a lovely honeysilk gown. No matter what color you dye it, the thread in the fabric really does shimmer! I got to use beautiful mink fur to line the bottom of the gown. One of these days I'm going to have to get some sewing down for the shop, but sometimes I find that far less fun than creating just whatever I want to and dressing my models in it.
I slept in and then hauled the babies off for a walk. All was a peaceful, lovely day up until the City started to shake. Asher and I managed to get the little ones calm but my stomach took a good while before it calmed. We never had such events in the Bonespire. I hope this is the last one.

The Pilgrimage was a success. It wasn't easy but for the most part it was a joyous event that has filled me with renewed faith and piety for Mangata.
I am still collecting my thoughts on it but I am truly grateful for those who joined me on my endeavor.

I am apologizing to Princess Alarissa and taking back my challenge that I put up a while ago. Many might not remember. That being said Princess Alarissa was a wonderful patron. I was wrong to challenge her and I was mostly being just pissy as I didn't want to stop being her protege. The princess is a fine woman and elegant noble and a good patron.
