So many things I wish I could say to you.
I have written this page a dozen times and yet words seem to fail to adequately express how I feel. How much I enjoyed your company; how much you touched my heart; made me smile; and how deeply you will missed. More than you will ever understand, I think.

I don't have any objection to the reason behind the boycott of Eurusi trade, but there is something I've always wondered about that this brings to mind. What do the Eurusi traders bring home from Arx?
Is it our coin they covet? Our silks? Our art? It is something I've never had the right opportunity to ask. Perhaps now I never will.

The Legate answered promptly, and very thoroughly, when I sent word to him with my personal inquiries regarding the embargo. His reasons struck me as both following the will and virtues of the Gods, as well as taking into account the necessities of our world and our place in it.
Should others have such questions, or even concerns, I would imagine he would respond with the same ability and care to enlighten.

The very sad and most shocking news has arrived to me in Gemecitta...
Lord Syd Volkov was murdered.
It breaks my heart that such a man met such a fate.

I am blessed with truly outstanding family. My cousin, Princess Helena Redrain, hosted a most wonderful fashion show in honor of the Queen of Endings and Beginnings, and I was honored to get to participate in it. The whole affair was wonderful! The gifts she had for everyone who attended are treasures I'll keep - and I could hardly keep myself from taking a second of the three different types of scarves offered. I did not envy the judges, for the competition was rather fierce. Every outfit - and not just those on the models! - were like candy for the eyes. I chose a stunning circlet for my prize, as I favor that type of hair ornament a great deal already, and it seemed almost made for my outfit.
I keep thinking that I can not manage more amazing memories from such things, and I am continuously proven wrong.

They are heathens of a most serious and dangerous type, to trade with them is to enrich them. To enrich them is to help them. And now to do so makes one an enemy of the Faith.
Some scamp may believe they can escape such, that the Legates are here in Arx. Father Aureth will not notice if you buy this fabric, you think. Just one shipment might slip past Mother Ailith. And it is true, the Legates themselves are here in Arx. But. The will of the Faith is not enforced by them alone. The Templars stand as the arm of the Faith, and we are everywhere. Every parish, every port, every castle. We will see your misdeeds. You see, you do not have to evade one Legate, or 4. You do not have to evade the Dominus. Or indeed the 13 Archlectors and 2 Grandmasters. You must evade a hundred thousand Templars. A hundred thousand Solace. You must evade each Scholar and every Mercy. Is it not easier to live without foreign niceties paid for by the diminishing of our righteousness than it is to live with that guilt and doubt pressing on you?

As I continue to update my files on foreign kingdoms I wonder about many things. Of late, I ponder lifespans. There are stories where people have lived a thousand years. We hear stories about Platinum and the Metallic Order from long before the reckoning. At a recent talk, the emissary from Cardia said that he has served in his office for 900 years. How is it that these people live such long lives? I've heard stories told about an emperor who sold his soul to live forever but that was a child's tale. Children's tales are simple things that entertain or teach moral precepts, are they not?

While I believe that the charity of Gild is a virtue that we do willingly and wholeheartedly embrace, and I encourage any who are left bereft to seek it out from the Faith, the concept of recompense under these circumstances is misguided.

It was always wrong to look away from the evil abroad in order to line our purses. As the Eurusi influence attempts to mount, as their darkness spreads among our impoverished populace while they claim merely to be here to observe, as a few outliers amongst our peerage flirt with the politics of justification with respect to embroilment in their black deeds:

I took an oath to shepherd the Faithful, to protect the lost and the wandering and lead them back to the light. I shall do so until Death returns me to Her Wheel.

There are a great many beautiful flowers that grow in the tundra of our northern lands, believe it or not. I am hard-pressed to think of which I would be though. Never really thought of myself as a flower... though I like them plenty. I have a gorgeous blue orchid that grows in my room. A gift I will always treasure.

I do not believe it can be a secret or a surprise that the Faith disapproves of these foreign influences and their disregard for fundamental commands of the Gods. The game played when dealing with those whom the Faith or your Liege disapproves of is that disapproval may reach a point where it breaks into outright embargo, as has happened.
