Equally committed to her art and her duty to her House - it seems that Granato is fortunate indeed to have her as one of those helping to care for it. There is a good deal to be said, I think, for those who hold power over others having artistry in their soul.

I generally think there is no sin quite so grave, quite so frustrating, as being boring.

Being predictable is quite close, though.

I am overwhelmed by the generosity shown at the auction to commemorate Lord Commander Dayne Valardin. Over 3.5 million silver bid to see him added to the Hall of Heroes.

I am proud to say that the funds received are more than sufficient for the task and the excess will see that the Lord Commander and his memory are adequately honored and live on to the future.

Thank you, Archduchess Regent Jaenelle for organizing this and Auctioneer Wren for running it so well. And to all the bidders for their charity. It is Gild's blessings.

I cannot speak against the existence of love matches for it would make me the truest of all hypocrites. But I will offer some friendly advice to those who find themselves in the uncomfortable position of defending their love match:

Don't. You chose your heart over duty. Accept that you did that. Embrace what has been done with the humility that it requires.

You are never going to be accepted as an objective voice on the talents and value of your love, for obvious reasons. You love that person. I am not objective on the subject of Ainsley Grayson and it would be ludicrous if I professed to be.

Marrying for love and accepting the mantle of responsibility for your new house is what you must do. You cannot stop tongues from wagging, because they will and perhaps they should. When the first sweetness is off your love match, as you negotiate the ongoing strength of your marriage and how you will fit in the long term, you will have the opportunity to produce proof to society that your sense of duty is as strong as your love.

You can't do it now. It won't work.

Just put your heads down and serve. In a few years, if you serve well, no one will remember why you wed, and nothing will stand to inconvenience you in the labors you do in fealty to your new liege.

Love is wonderful. If people will talk, let them. Talk will not hurt you if you are competent.

I had the great honor of being able to complete my first painting themed on one of the gods for a friend of mine to hang in his office. I should think I should be thanking him and not the other way around. The entire project was an extended exercise in the contemplation of Lagoma. While I have ever revered the Triad of Creation, it was in the completion of a driftwood sculpture for my home that I realized that in comparison to Mangata and Petrichor, my mental image of Lagoma was sorely lacking. Not so now, I think. This is one of my favorite things in picking the composition of a new work. Always seeking to say as much as possible on the subject in symbolic imagery, the completion of the piece led me to consider the many places Her aspect touches on the Dream.

Lord Martino,

I am flattered by your words. You were my first friend in the city, and I am honored by your praise. To think, when we first met I was the wild girl chasing any adventurous take you offered.

Thank you for sticking beside me while I found my feet here and helping guide me to become the person I am now. Thank you for the kind gentle nudges I have needed to make better choices for myself.

I perhaps need to start calling you wise rather than just old.

House Clearlake hosted it's second Archery Tourney and I couldn't be happier for the turn out that we had. It was the perfect event to break in the new Clearlake Festival Grounds. I was very happy with the way it turned out over the many months of working on the plan. We had many great archers come out and I was thrilled to give out the new prizes for the top three scorers. Princess Ophelia took home first place, Countess Arcadia took second and Lady Rhiannon took third. I hope that all of the winners love their prizes and I hope that those that attended enjoyed their tokens that were handed out. I look forward to the Spring Festival that is soon to be held.

You know damn well I did not write that.

That you would put it in the whites, after we have already discussed this, while still implying that the work is my own is disrespectful and I do not appreciate it.

I expect a public apology forthwith, or this will not be over.

Relationship Note on Flavien

And it seems that it has been made even more awkward by Lord Flavian Laurent sharing the poem in the white journals, for all to see. It is a bit frustrating that such has been done, when clearly it was intended for me, and not Lord Flavien. And on top of it, it is not even in Lord Kedehern's writing.

Whoever has done this, please do not do so again.

In the past few months, we've seen the arrival of no less than five members of Thrax's extended family in Arx. The estate hasn't been this full of noise since Astrid came into the world. Not that I'm complaining, the new wing of the house provides a hell of a lot more room.

Although I do hope this isn't a sign that Maelstrom has started to sink into the sea.

It's amazing to see the crafters being inspired by Death in their works lately. I've spent quite a few silver on some of their works, myself. The Festival of Death is ongoing, with events spread out over the summer. I hope there'll be something for everyone to enjoy.

Not sure how many read my whites, but anyone who does who wants to just learn more about the Queen of Endings and Mother of new Beginnings, seek me out. Nothing I like talking about more!

(This journal has several sploches on it where water hit the parchment)

Two days out of Arx and the sailing goes smoothly. The wind has been at our backs meaning the crew have been able to relax more instead of manning the oars. They, like me, are keen to see the City of Swords again and visit wives, husbands and children they left behind in Southport.

Most of them I have had the honour of serving with and leading for several years now and the crew of the galley Osprey have seen me go from Captain, to Commodore to Admiral of Southport. While on larger scale actions I often command from the flagship dromond Sea Hawk, I must confess it feels more comfortable being back on Osprey.

An albatross was sighted overhead this morning and we sighted the surfacing of a whale shortly after. Good omens for the more superstitious. For me? They are a reminder of how beautiful Mangata's realm truly is.

Grief comes in many colors and shapes, I feel it is always important to let those feeling it, to /feel/ it, in however way they are doing so. To remember that there is no one right way to feel it, or to express it, or to work through it. More importantly, we should remind those that we care for that are experiencing it that we are there for them. In whatever capacity they made need us. Whether it be a quiet companion to sit with, a shoulder to cry on, a friend to share a bottle or two with, or however else. I hope that those out there that are grieving now that they are not alone in it, and that if they should wish someone to listen, or to sit with them, or a shoulder to lean or cry, or both. There are people here for you.

Having multiple dresses is convenient and nice, for every weather and occurance, but there shall always be a single dress or two that will be your favorite, high quality through fabric and seam, sparkling like no other, fitting you so well and hugging every curve.

Those shall remain in the back of the closet and in the depth of one's heart until their time to shine will come and they will shine brightly and be the envy of every one in the city.

Soon enough.
