The joy of returning to Southport and seeing my wife Aahana and daughter Palania was tragically cut short at the news of the murder of her uncle Lord Syd Volkov.
Now she is beside herself with worry and grief and I can only pray that the perpertrators are found before Iong.

At first I was honored with how open you were with me. But that was formality talking. That propriety, if you will. By the time I left, I felt as though you are truly one of the only people in Arx that I truly "know" and yet there is so much more to learn from and about you. I hope that day is one of those we talked about yesterday. A day of conscious choosing. Of healing.
I hope we can speak that honestly and earnestly about anything.

I have returned to Redreef Estate, after a lengthy but productive set of trips tending to affairs in both the Maelstrom and Redreef Shores. I never expected to return to a fully peaceful and quiet Arx, for I am not sure such a thing has ever existed for longer than a few hours at a time. However, the developments in my absence are enough to leave me disquieted.
Firstly, as I have already made public, House Redreef stands alongside Legate Aureth on the matter of Eurusi trade. The future that we as a House seek to build is not one that includes men, women, and children being bought and sold as thought they were herds of livestock. Economists may look at the amount of coin sacrificed to give these people their freedom and despair, but that loss of coin will be short-lived compared to the lasting judgment of history.
Secondly, the murder of Lord Syd Volkov and the desecration of his body thereafter are crimes for which no penalty can be considered too steep. The City of Arx is not a battlefield, and none can rightfully claim the madness of war as justification. If any member or associate of House Redreef possesses information about what was done, they are to make it known. If I find that any under my watch or in my circle have concealed such information, I promise consequences.

Limerance is proving a more difficult study than Lagoma as painting ideas go. Little surprise, perhaps, given that Lagoma is associated with symbols of so many things. The symbolism of Limerance is a lot more challenging to capture in a single moment and thus image.

Recently I was chatting people in the Ambassador Salon and of course the topic of our foreign visitors and Platinum came up. I was told that Arx once received a mysterious delivery of platinum. How intriguing. I went to the archives to search through our recent history. There are many whites about platinum - the metal, the coin, the emperor of the Undying Empire. I found ones about about the delivery of ballistae in 1007.
But even more intriguing, I read whites about the Canticle of the Long Vigil written by Father Alessandro Rubino long ago. He wrote, "beware the coming war between a Platinum Empire, the Triarchs and the lords of the sky." Maybe there was an unstable balance of powers that he saw and his warning was of what would happen if the balance was tipped. Perhaps I can find this canticle to read for myself.
I was not diligent in my study of history as a child, thus I do not have insight from this to apply to our present day. On the other hand, I am a nonpareil sailor. Give me a ship, and I can take a historian anywhere.
