3 Ivory Shields arrives, following Lexir.
Primus, First of Monique's Assistants, Tertius, Third of Monique's Assistants, Lexir arrive, following Monique.
The rooftop gardens of the Hart have been decorated with polished silver lanterns, and servants can be found everywhere offering red, white and sparkling wines, whiskey, vodka and rum. Cookies, cakes and baked goods of many kinds are also available, as are all manner of fruits, some of which have been dipped in Lycene chocolate.
Near the seaview terrace, an ensemble from the Bards College plays beautiful music that summons those with even the slightest inclination to dance without a care for anything but the pleasure of the melody and the movement of the body.
Dio Seraceni enters the gardens, dressed in a brocade umbra robe held to his body by a ruby silk sash. Beside him enters Raja Culler, dressed in a gorgeous seasilk gown and a stunning mirrorsilver and sapphire collared wreath. Behind the pair, Owen, an aged scholar in dark gray robes, walks beside Anne, carrying a chest, inside of which is a necklace of mirrorsilver ending in a luminous dragonweep pendant.
Dio smiles, and utters a brief word to Raja, before finding a glass of the Hart's rich Lenosian Red, and greeting those who have come to Princess Valencia's garden.
1 Culler Boatswain, 2 Culler Midshipman arrive, following Samira.
Nevermore, the sulking raven, 3 Fidante House Guards arrive, following Narcissa.
As part of her duty from the Bard's College, Nina is here as part of the band. She's at the forefront of the music makers, using her lute to strum up an opening promenade for people to walk in, grab drinks, and gather. A bit later, she will mingle, but as an entertainer she considers getting the party moving to be her most important of duties. Fortunately, she has Dio to help with the emcee work off this affair.
Nina herself is in an outfit of her own design, one of sheer honeysilk tulle, and a silken top beaded with glass and semiprecious gems. The light from the lanterns glitter off of every little sparkle in her ensamble, though her movement for now is just enough to promote the strumming of the lute.
A stargazing Pravosi princess claimed the ideal spot on the terrace for listening to the bards' performance. Adrienne's gaze is directed outwards, away from the glittering, dazzling finery of the attendees to the views of Arx beyond the terrace. A glass of sparkling wine rests on her knee while a few guards in Pravus livery keep an uncomfortably close watch. The steelsilk she wears is perhaps not solely a statement of fashion, lovely though it is.
They did say let freedom sparkle right? And that's what Mabelle likes to do most. Clad in a honeysilk gown that sparkles from... breast to knee, a large princess necklace resting upon her collarbone, the golden earrings to her ears, a starry arm cuff and a beautiful bracelet from the Jewelers of Ischia. Even her shoes sparkle, but not as much as her smile when her eyes land upon the hosts, "Marquis Seraceni, Mistress Nina, Mistress Raja, good evening. Everything looks delightfully shiny".
Narcissa arrives in the company of her guards in Fidante livery. Her golden eyes scan the crowd briefly, offering smiles of greeting to the unfamiliar and smiles of familiarity to those that warrant it. She continues conversing softly with the trio that accompanies her, apprehensive of the crowd for now and lingering towards the fringe.
Narcissa has joined the lush garden seating.
Rowenova has joined the cozy vine-covered pergola.
Lustry is happily helping herself to a glass of rum as she arrives wearing her personally designed honeysilk dress and heels. A bright, welcoming smile curls those plush lips, her two differently colored eyes carefully looking around the room for a familiar face or three.
There are no less than three dragonweeps decorating the Lady Monique Greenmarch as she arrives upon the Terrace of the Hart; one on a ring about her finger, another upon a torq around her neck and a final dragon tear clasping the mantle draping her shoulders. The rest of the Minx of the Marches is no less shiny. The star iron filigree upon her corset, the dawnstones that adorn it, the cardian snakeskin breeches that paint her endless legs, swallowed by flame-kissed knee high boots, and a pair of cupridium hairpins with garnet tips, fashioned as artist's paintbrushes, pinning her fiery hair up; but none of it shines as brightly as the man upon whose arm the Minx arrives, one Prince Lexir Pravus, whose hair is beyond compare and the Greenmarch can't seem to take her eyes off of as she leans in to murmur something.
Mabelle has joined the lush garden seating.
Entering on the arm of Marquis-Consort Gaspar Tessere, Lore Artiglio is cloaked in umbra and iridescite with large aquamarine gems. She smiles up at Gaspar and murmurs something, ending with an amused smile as they find somewhere to settle. She glances around, faces more foreign than known, making her sigh softly. "There are days I wonder if everyone I knew has died.. I see so few familiar faces..." One of those faces has her lighting up however, and lifting a hand, "Lady Greenmarch! Its been entirely too long!!" She seems genuinely pleased to see Monique, her smile board and warm.
On time - perhaps technically under-dressed - Caprice arrives alone, gleaming under multi-hued metal chains and little else. She's already drinking in the sights but it's the musicians who draw her first smile of the evening, an appreciative glance and dip of her head for the entertainers on duty.
This splendid summer evening finds Medeia escorting Norah on her arm. The petite woman is a sight to behold in a lavender honeysilk and lace dress with golden accessories holding amethysts and duskstone. Her hair is elaborately braided with skull hair combs tucked over each ear. A slight gesture as she spots Dio, in his direction, points the man out to Norah. "Come, I'll introduce you to the marquis." The women approach hom and Medeia smiles brightly. "Marquis Dio, it's wonderful to see you this evening. I'd like to introduce you to Marquessa Norah Eswynd." As she looks around, she spots a bunch of other familiar faces and gives some waves and nods in greeting.
After a few hours spent downstairs gambling it was a far more anxious Ciro that arrives at the gala than had entered the front doors. The man making his way around lingering at the edge of things as his right hand lifts one of his trusty flasks up to his lips taking a sip of the far stronger blackstrap rum within. The flask lowered moments later though not tucked away instead held against his stomach as his fingers nervously drum along it. His gaze flitting here and there as if the man for once was a bundle of nerves.
Raja walks in alongside the Marquis, holding up her head as if she has lived this life all her life. Her movements are graceful and the luscious seasilk shifts around her legs as she walks. She pauses as the Marquis speaks quietly to her, listening intently to what he has to say. She replies quietly, deftly claiming a glass of Lycene red wine for herself, thanking the server as they walk by. She turns her dark gaze out to look to the fine people milling about the rooftop garden. There is so much finery and so much elegance in one spot. It kind of stuns her to silence.
Lexir's head tilts a little to listen, eight inches in height difference between him and the Minx. A small, enigmatic little smile plays across his lips, accompanied soon thereafter with a little chuckle. He whispers something casually, almost flippantly, back, straightening afterwards and proceeding into an idle scan of the gardens. A hand lifts, bidding welcome to Valencia first, then tossing a salute and a more generous wave Nina's way - she's working after all.
Dio smiles to see Mabelle arrive, and bows to the Voice of House Laurent in courtly Lycene fashion. "Thank you, My Lady, though I think you've out done us all." His eyes catch sight of the bracelet she wears, and he laughs, saying, "So they won you over? Are you supporting Vanessa or Analisa tonight?"
Norah does her best not to gawk at the dragonweep as it's brought by. She's never actually seen a piece in person before, and it has the desired effect. She gently squeezes Medeia's arm. "It's a beautiful piece," she says, her tone gentle and impassive, but her eyes are full of wonder. She is all courtly elegance when she is introduced to Dio. "Marquis Seraceni, a pleasure. My Lady Medeia speaks highly of you."
It was an event she had been looking forward to, but she had not exactly counted on the many stairs that would take her to the breathtaking venue overlooking the city. She did make it and the expression on her face clearly states that is was well worth the effort. Belladonna's younger sister does her best to avoid many of those already gathered, making her way over to the terrace with a light tapping of her cane with each careful step and looking for a place to sitr for a spell. A drink can wait, at least for now as and greetings will come in time. She actually seems quite intent to let people come to her, at least for now.
Allegra has joined the seaview terrace.
The view on the roof of the Golden Hart is remarkable this evening. The air light and kissed with soft breeze, the city glimmers below like soft jewels, Moving subtly through the crowd, it would seem that the Hart's most excellent staff have held nothing back it would seem and everything has been done just as the Marquis of Seraceni requested. Indeed, all are treated with the utmost of warm welcome and care.
Dark raven black waves held lightly in place by silver pins, Valencia is there as well, dressed in scarlet southen silks that embrace enticing curves and slender waist. Nothing seems to escape the little Lycene princess sight as she watches happily over her staff and offers warm smiles to one and all as she greets each guest and sees that all is made comfortable
Jareth has joined the lush garden seating.
Monique's eyes pick out Lore, her voice catching at the Minx's attention, and surprise painting her gaze as she spots the other woman. "Mistress Lore Artiglio, a sight for sore eyes if ever there was one. Where have you been off to? I've missed you," she murmurs, waving to the woman. "Might I introduce you to Prince Lexir Pravus, whose hair doesn't seem to be possible, but does in fact exist? Second only to his sword arm. Your Highness, Mistress Lore, an old friend and paramount troublemaker."
Mabelle wiggles her fingers to some familiar faces such as Gaspar, Lexir and Caprice before collecting her glass of rum, wrapping ring clad fingers around it, "Both", she informs Dio and draws her fingers over the ivory hanging from her neck, "But Analise did send an extra gift which was a lovely gesture on her behalf. Not so sure about the outdoing though, everyone is sparkling so beautifully". Mabelle's eyes move around the room and she winks to Valencia in familiarity before heading over toward Narcissa, "Lady Fidante. I wish I crossed people's path so easily after corresponding with them all the time", she presses a soft kiss to the woman's cheek.
Narcissa accepts the kiss and returns it in air-kisses to either cheek in Lycene fashion. "It spares my poor Nevermore when we happen upon one another. At least he has stopped trying to spirit away anyone's silver." She inches over to make room for the Laurent beside her.
Looking a bit out of place among the finery and jewels, Samira arrives dressed in her usual garb. Despite her plain attire and lack of jewelry, her dark tresses have been detangled and pulled back, secured with a pair of amethyst-tipped hairpins. She strides in as though she belongs, gaze scanning the crowds curiously. Dark eyes widen faintly as they fall open Raja, her mouth opening and then snapping closed again.
A moment or two fasionablly late, but the Mummers one and only Rake... Jareth, slowly makes his way throough the crod joined on the rooftop garden. The salt and pepper haired actor is lithe in his movements with a grace and disheveled style to his hair that is likely intended.
Nina often has to work hard at these things, but... seeing Lexir and Monique walk in together, the sparkling bard gives them both a smile and nod without missing a beat in her song. She nods to Mabelle, as well, and continues leading the ensamble in, for now, a stately number, one suitable for entrance and quiet conversation. At least until such time as the auction begins, and she can take a small break for her own drink.
A gentle smile is offered Lexir's way as he greets Valencia politely, the little vixen's head gracefully bowing a welcome as he is swept away into the joyous gathering. Turning Raja is offered a bright smile and a warm ewlcome is is Lore and Nacrissa. "Please be so very welcome," she offers earnestly before offering Lustry a nod as well, "Welcome to my Hart. I hope you enjoy your time here," she invites. An impish look and a wink is returned to Mabelle, her dark eyes happy to see the woman in attendence as well. To Samira, there is a gentle nod and the offer of a hand in greeting, "Please be so very welcome here. I'm so very glad we are meeting."
When Dio hears Medeia's voice, he glances over his shoulder, smiling warmly. Turning to Norah, Dio bows. "It is a sincere pleasure, Marquessa. Lady Medeia has been a great help to my family, though I should think whatever she's said of me speaks more to her virtues than to mine. Is there anything we might get you to drink?"
The marquis smiled around and, contrary to his companion, saw many familiar faces. He followed Lore and smiled down at whatever she'd said and nodded to Monique as the introduction was given. "Lady Monique, a pleasure to see you again. Prince Lexir, wonderful to make your acquaintance. Marquis Gaspar Tessere." He bowed his head politely once more and spotted a glance over to Mabelle and returned her wave with a playful wink.
Lustry begins to make her way around the groups, curoiusly looking over who is talking to who and wearing what fabrics. After a few moments she moves to Valencia with a bright smile, "Thank you for the welcome, first time coming up here, it is truly quite lovely. I'm Princess Lustry Thrax, I not think we met before?"
Lore's smile grows at Moniqu'es response and she moves forward to press a kiss to the Minx's cheek, a gentle murmur passing from one to the other. She stpes back and turns her smile up towards Lexir, "Your Highness, its a true pleasure to make your acquaintance. May I ask, do you practice more than swordplay? I'm an avid pugilist, myself." Looking to Valencia next, she offers a bright grin, "Thank you! Its so nice to be back in the city. I've missed your Hart so." Then she's smiling up at Gaspar and offering, "Would you like something to drink, my lord? I think I spied a few Lenosian reds lurking about at the table."
The shadow of Allegra's arrival or perhaps her perfume draws Adrienne out of her reverie. The princess extends a hand to her cousin-by-marriage. "Hello, Allegra. Your loveliness puts the room to shame. Won't you join me?" She looks to the chair beside her. "You've caught me enjoying the music. You know our Glass Butterfly, of course?" A tip of her head toward Nina.
Lexir casts Monique a rueful look, informing Lore as introductions are made, "I fear for the day that she discovers a wigmaker that meets her standards, for that day shall be the day I am woefully parted from my precious hair. It is a constant struggle to avoid the knives, you know." The small smile he bears lingers, and he cuts Gaspar a brief nod when the man moves into the little circle to announce to the group as a whole, though he addresses Lore in particular, "Oh, I do coin tricks too."
Ciro finds his way closer to the ensemble from the Bard's College stopping a few yards away to listen, His eyes rather than taking in the sights of the night with the resplendent and beautiful gowns and outfits and the ones who wore them lowering to focus on that flask in his hand. The man's fingers continuing to drum in what the untrained eye might seem to be from memory as if trying to play along with the band but those who knew music were anything but. A nervous little tick that had taken hold of the man as he became lost to his thoughts and the sound of the music.
"It is my great pleasure to meet you, higness," Valencia happily returns to Lustery as she introduces herself. "I hope you will enjoy it. The view is exceptionally beaitful tonight. I think the stars are shining for the Marquis of Seraceni. He seems to know how to host an most excellent event, I think," she nods happily. "I am the Princess Valencia of Velenosa. Welcome to my Hart. And to you as well, my lady. Please be so very welcome as well, to my Hart and to the city. I hope your journey went well."
"Marquis, you're too kind," Medeia smiles warmly. "I'll find my way to a glass of red wine eventually, I see some people I should be saying hello to." Another glance around has her catching sight of Ciro. "Lord Ciro," she calls out to the man, "My dearest scoundrel business partner, you're certainly not ignoring me, are you?"
Samira manages to tear her curious gaze away from Raja as she hears Valencia's greeting. Turning to face the princess, she accepts the other woman's hand as it is extended to her. She'll not bow or curtsy, instead inclining her head in a polite manner. "Thank you. I'm Samira Culler. It's my first time stepping foot in the Hart and I have to say, it's stunning." None of her usual sarcasm present, the words are uttered with sincerity.
Narcissa beams a smile at Jareth as he appears and beckons him over.
3 Fidante House Guards, Santino arrive, following Calista.
Mabelle's eyes continue to wash over those present and examining without staring, their outfits for the night. She casts a big smile to Nina and then calls toward Adrienne, "Princess. Is it not bad enough you've moved all the way to the other side of the city, you remain far even now", she teases her, nodding to her company in form of Allegra and then turns to the woman who owns the establlishment, "Princess Valencia, you look radiant as ever. Thank you for welcoming us in your home". Mabelle also flashes her smile to Medeia, and mouths to Gaspar, "So pretty".
Just like Allegra to naviagte herself to a person she knows and of comfort. It is no secret that large gatherings tend to find this Pravus Princess hanging out on the fringes. A warm and welcoming smile is given to Adrienne as she moves to seetle into the offered seat, sewtting her cane down beside her on the floor. "Good evening Adrienne. Your words are far to kind and at the rsik of offending..untruthful. There is so much beauty in this room, you look lovely." Her eyes then drift to Nina and another msile given. "Ah yes. We suffered...I mean enjoyed the Naval Sypmosium together the other evening. I must say she made it much more enjoyable."
Monique dips a curtsey to Gaspar, and then embraces Lore in return, touching her ruby lips to the other woman's cheek. There's a loft of her brow, and a whispered comment in return, before the Minx offers to Gaspar, "A pleasure to see you, Marquis. I've been meaning to reach out. I didn't know you knew Mistress Artiglio. What a happy coincidence! How did you two meet?" There's a wave to Nina and the Minx's greedy eyes are drawn to the dragonweep like an eager moth to the flame, deeply appreciative, before she looks back to her group, catching Lexir's words, spurring a happy laugh from her lips. "Oh, it might not even take a master wigmaker. Just a dark alley and a sharp dagger, and some paste."
Raja lifts her wine to her lips, glancing around to all the beautiful people. In spite of being dressed up, she is just a little out of place at such events. With Valencia's greetings, Raja offers a smile and a dip of her head. "Thank you for having me." She says politely. Then she is off to mingle! The wine is sipped as she meanders through the crowd. But, a familiar voice pricks at her ears and she turns to see Samira. "Samira!" She is actually relieved to see a familiar face. She changes her course to go towards the other Culler. "I didn't realize you were going to be here!"
Medeia has joined the seaview terrace.
"She truly is a woman of divine patience," Norah says to Dio. "We are quite blessed to have Lady Medeia in our House and under our auspices." She shakes her head. "I am just fine at the moment, thank you." She drifts over to look at Allegra. "I am glad to hear someone enjoyed the naval symposium," she says, perhaps with a hint of a wry smile. She nods her head respectfully. "Marquessa Norah Eswynd. I don't believe I've had the pleasure of meeting you before."
Nina sees a few more looks put her way, and wraps the current song that she is playing. She turns and nods to the ensamble, and then the necklace - the auction item in question - is passed over to her, on a pillow. Nina takes one step down from the spot where she was standing. She takes the necklace off the pillow, and holds it up, putting it to her chest for a moment as if to show how it sets off her face, but not so much as to interrupt her gown or to truly 'wear' it, as this would be rude to those who were looking to purchase.
"Thank you everyone, for coming tonight," says Nina, her voice clear and bright. "We'll have a short time for you to examine the dragonweep necklace up close, before we move to dancing, and then the final bidding for the item!"
The smile given down to Lore was charming and fond, like two fast friends already. "Yes, darling. I'll leave the choosing up to you." The nod returned from Lexir was met with that easy, continuous smile and he smiled all the more at Monique's response. "A recent acquaintance, brought together by a singular goal. It a wondrous thing when that happens."
Ciro checks composure at hard. Critical Success! Ciro is spectacularly successful.
A wash of teal skims down the ebb and flow of licentious Lycene curves, bound solely by the thick clasp of a golden collar about the neck as the Duchess of Roses finally finds the Starlight Gardens. "I agree, that was a bit tricksy, but I enjoyed getting lost." She comments to her faithful Santino. The Summer's sultry heat is a good excuse as any to bring out the lighter fare of clothing, or lack there of as the Fidante's entire back is exposed and silk once more kisses the very low end of her spine. There was a note somewhere in the Villa that some family would be gathered here and Calista makes it a point to seek out Narcissa first; Another rose in a sea of Arx's most beautiful.
"I am so very pleased to meet you, Mistress Culler. I know your Master Torian. He has always been so very kind to me. Please, be so very welcome here. I hope this will be the first of many times you visit us, yes?" Valencia nods with great warmth. "Please feel free to enjoy all. Should you need anything, simply call." Looking to Lustry and back again she smiles, "Oh, and please allow me to present Princess Lustry of Thrax. This is her first visit as well upon our roof, yes? Princess, may I introduce Mistress Samira of Culler. " she nods again allowing the ladies to become more acquainted.
Lustry smiles to Samira as she mentions, "It is lovely to see you here Mistress Samira. How have you been since we chatted at the training center?" Sipping on her rum aftre inquiring though her focus remains upon her conversational partner.
A pale hand, free from ink for once, is lifted in greeting as Calista arrives. Her Voice laughs brightly and exclaims, "I was hoping I would see you here. Look, I found a Jareth and Lady Mabelle." Narcissa casts her burnished gaze to the others at her seating.
Hearing his name called out has Ciro doing two things very quickly, First is that tensing of his form like a man caught in some elaborate trap lasting just a second and then next was the lifting of the flask and a very deep draw from it. With that done the flask is lowered and brought down to rest against his thigh, the man's hand guiding the flask to tap against the duskweave of his wrap around style pants in time with the music. The Seraceni Lord now ready his eyes lift as he looks to Medeia, A broad grin spilling across his lips. "Well luck seems to be with me after all, I see you come to show up the necklace so many are here to try and lay hands upon. You.. well words do finally seem to fail me.. They would not do you justice in that dress." The man giving a quick wink as he moves to greet the woman.
Ciro has joined the seaview terrace.
Valencia's smile warms again as Mabelle speaks, her cheeks colouring softly to the compliment. "My sweet friend, coming from one of the most stylish and accomplished women in Avrum, I am honoured. You look so beautiful, as always. I am glad you are here, please be so very welcome, my dear." she nods back, taking a moment to be sure to introduce Mabelle to Samira and Lustry as well. Another smile comes to Raja and the offer of another hand in greeting, "Thank you for coming, my lady," she replies only to smile between the Cullers. "You know each other already? I'm so very pleased. Please be so welcome, yes?"
Laughing richly, Lore shakes her head at Lexir, "I'm afraid I have no comfort to offer you, Your Highness. What the Minx wants, the Minx gets. If that means your hair, well... at least it will grow back?" Mention of coin tricks has her brows lifting up in pleased curiosity, "You shall have to show me sometime, Your Highness, I adore tricks." The murmur from Monique has her laughing again and grinning impishly, eyes crinkling at the corners, "Indeed, my lady." She glances around briefly and murmurs to Gaspar, "I'll return shortly with something suitable. Do enjoy yourself while I'm away, hm?" Chuckling, she slips from Gaspar's side to go find them some drinks. There's a pause at the table, gathering a few glass of a wonderful red wine, and one glass of a nice whiskey. She glances over towards Dio and approaches him briefly, offering a dipped curtsy and smiling, "Marquis Seraceni. I wanted to thank you for hosting the naval meeting the other night. It was informative, and at times, entertaining." She flashes a brief, cheeky grin, then moves back towards the crowd. Gaspar is handed a glass of wine, Monique a glass of whiskey. Lexir gets a brief smile and is offered a glass of wine as well, "I wasn't sure what you might like, I hope wine is one of them."
Mabelle beams brightly upon seeing Calista, "My most exquisitly beautiful cousin. The whole room light up upon your entry". Mabelle teases and inform Dio, "You can hang down the lanterns now, we're good", she points her thumb at Calista. A blush upon her cheeks as she hears Valencia however, "You are too kind"
Jareth the Great, even if in his own mind watches with a curious lift to his scared brow. "It isv quite the crush.."His baritone voice lost to those around him.
When Mabelle catches her eye, Medeia smiles back and gives a little finger wave og greeting. She notes Gaspar, as well, repeating the gesture. "Lady Mabelle, Marquis Gaspar, I'm thrilled to see you both. Oh, and you have Pince Lexir and Lady Monique by you? What an auspicious evening." She sees Norah off to mingle as Ciro approaches her. She omves to close the distance with her hands ut to take his, reaching up to press a quick kiss to his cheek. "Let's find me a glass of wine and talk to wonderful people." She slips beside him and tucks her hand into the crook of his arm.
Calista slinks in close to Narcissa and wraps her cousin in a tender hug. "You have no idea how long it took me to find this particular garden but it was well worth it. What a view!" She extends the greetings to Mabelle and Jareth. "Hello! What a wonderful turnout. You all look so festive and ready for a good time."
"I'm glad to hear it. Torian's the best," Samira answers to Valencia with a small grin. "And thank you. I'm sure I'll be back again to explore." Attention turns to Lustry as she is introduced, a flicker of recognition crossing her features. "I've been doing well enough. Artwork and training, training, and more training mostly. How about you?" Hearing a familiar voice, she turns to greet Raja with obvious warmth. "Hey, you! I'm so glad to see you. I didn't know if I should come, but then I thought I might get inspiration for paintings or something." She steps back, studying Raja from head to toe. "You look beautiful! And fancy."
Monique spies Calista's arrival and the Minx casts the Duchess a warm smile and an elegant hand lifted to wave. But it's Gaspar whom the Minx replies to. "The singular goal of possessing a singular necklace tonight, perhaps?" she asks with a low thrum of laughter, accepting the glass of whiskey from Lore with an even bigger smile. "You remembered. Darling woman. Are we after the same thing this evening?" Her eyes track to the necklace by Nina, unerring and covetous. And then she spies Medeia, and there's a wave and a grin. "Gods, must you look so beautiful, my newly married lady? You put us to shame!"
"See what I have to deal with?" Lexir asks, his expression mournful, his tone despairing. He too cuts a glance over to the necklace to be auctioned, his dark eyes appreciative but nowhere near as greedy as Monique's. He manages to sneak in a casual word to her apparently regarding it before his attention returns to those closer to hand, accepting the glass of wine from Lore with an easy and amiable nod. "My dear, there are precious few liquors, spirits, decoctions, and elixirs I'd refuse. Give it all to me!" And with that, he toasts all those about him with a rakish smile ("To finer things and a finer Compact!") and it's bottoms up.
Harlan makes his way into the gardens, not exactly looking fabulous, but for sure acting ducal. "Worry not the most spectacular has arrived, if not late." He says in his low and jovial voice, walking in on his lumbering steps, that goofy grin on his face.
Lustry grins as she gestures to her guards, "They are getting better at keeping up with me. I want to come visit that gallery you mentioned to me before." She looks to Raja as she comes out to join, that friendly welcoming smile remaining genuine as she greets, "Good evening, I am Princess Lustry Thrax, I don't think we have met before. I much say your perfume is absolutely lovely though. And your gown is breathtaking as well. Did you design it?"
Dio nods in agreement with Norah's words regarding Medeia. Overhearing Adrienne's epitaph for Nina, Dio chuckles, and pass a quick glance to the gifted bard, before turning to Valencia. "Quite the opposite, Your Highness. The beauty of your Hart, and the music of Nina Autumndale are as closest to Elysia as I can ever hope to get."
Hearing Raja greet Samira, Dio makes his way over to the Cullers.
When Valenica speaks to Mabelle, Dio grins, and Lore's words cause him to laugh outright. "I'm glad it was not an utter bore, though by Seraceni standards it was productive and tame."
Norah has joined the seaview terrace.
Narcissa returns the hug to her cousin warmly, wrapping a slender arm about Calista's shoulders momentarily before wine is procured for the Duchess. "Jareth is now speaking of crushes, and I haven't the slightest for whom by whom. I agree, it was -quite- the climb up here. I fear I have met my quota for daily physical activity."
Ciro leans into that quick kiss to his cheek as Medeia takes his hands and offers that greeting to him. "Well how could I turn down such a request, Let us hope though there is more than wine." The man lifting his flask giving it a little shake before carefully slipping the stopper back into it. The flask quickly tucked away as his arm is taken as he begins to wander with Medeia, "I may need to dance tonight, Just to warn you." The man telling her before his voice drops lower nearing a faux whisper as he adds, "No fire tonight though, only drink."
An arm reached around to Lore's waist, squeezing her closer for a second as he winked. A sip of the wine was taken and he nodded. "A perfect choice." He hoisted his glass high at the toast and laughed softly. He turned to Medeia and grinned at her. "My lady, you look ravishing." Gaspar stepped from Lore's side for a moment and kissed the Sai--Eswynd(!) woman's cheek. "Always a privilege to see you out and about, darling." He gave her a wink before answering Monique with a bit of a sigh. "It's not the best of time for me to think so lavishly, I'm afraid, Lady Monique. It's a sad day indeed when 'goals' and 'ambition' thwarts 'material desire', but...that is the life I now lead." He grinned all the more.
Mabelle winks to Dio, "I did not know you do tame", and her hand reaches up to greet Harlan among the mass sparkly people. A smile is cast toward Medeia, "Congratulations upon your nuptials. I thought I should say it in person as well".
Raja smiles to Valencia, "We do know one another, yes." She looks fondly to Samira. "There is inspiration all around. This place looks like magic. The ammount of wealth in one place. It's mind-boggling." Her gaze lifts as Dio makes his way closer, "Marquis Dio. May I introduce Samira to you." She gestures to Samira, smiling warmly.
Winking at Monique, Lore lifts the glass of wine to her lips for a sip, "Of course I remember. You were one of my favorite people in this city when I left, and I see no reason for you not to still hold that place now." Her smile for Lexir is amused as she nods, "Ah! You remind me fo someone else I once knew. He would drink anything you put in front of him as long as it had an alcohol content. I think we'll get along just swimmingly." She lifts her glass to the toast and takes another drink. Dio's response has her looking back with a laugh, "I've seen meetings that devolved into skinnydipping in the ocean and barrels of booze brought down to the beach. So it was very productive indeed!" The squeeze from Gaspar has her chuckling and smiling warmly at him, "I do try." Looking back to Monique, she gives a sly grin, "We may well be after the same item, my lady. We shall have to see how the silver falls, hm?"
Another bright smile comes to Valencia's lips and she nods to Samira and Raja again. "As I said to Mistress Samira, I hope this will be the first of many times you find my Hart. Know you are always welcome, and please give my best to Missere Master Torian for me. Tell him his company is greatly missed," the little vixen nods warm and begins to step back to allow Samira, Raja and Lustry space to chat. Another flush of cheek comes and she bows her head to the Dio, "I am afraid I will have to disagree. An event to help others always make the night and my Hart more beautiful, my Lord. I hope this will be the first of many such collaboration we forge moving forward. Thank you for the work you are doing, sir, I am honoured to help."
Mabelle's silent greeting earns a lifting hand in turn, paired with a flashing smile before Caprice's attention is back to the glint and glitter of those nearer her current location. In proof that there is at least a little something underneath her jewelry, she dips into a curtsey for Valencia, "Your Highness, everything looks just lovely; thank you for opening your Hart for such a beautiful event. Princess Lustry, good to see you again so soon!" She's on the move, if slowly, meaning not to take up too much of the hostess's time while also seeking out the other two to give her greetings and thanks.
Harlan spots Mabelle giving him a wave from a distance and narrows his eyes. He approaches the Laurent, bowing respectfully, Lady Dogthief Laurent. Where is my dog?" He asks her, still grinning and his tone of voice clearly one of jest and or mirth.
Calista lifts a jeweled hand to wave in greetings to Monique and offers the same -hello- towards Gaspar before her attentions return to Narcissa and Jareth. A well defined brow inches upwards in amusement, "Oh? Ot seems this is how my night will be then. I nearly had to mop up a poor unfortunate soul at the Hundred Cities earlier. Do tell of this crush, Jareth. Inquiring minds and well I am your patron after all." She teases.
Jareth bows his head to Calista as she greets Lady Narcissa, Mabelle then him. "Duchess, you are graceful and radiant as ever." The man if possible stepping into a quire background.
Lustry offers a bright smile as she looks to Caprice, "Messere Caprice, it is wonderful to see you as well. How have the days been treating you since we last spoke?" As Dio approaches where herself, Raja and Samira are all talking she greats the Count, "Good evening, I don't think we have met. I am Princess Lustry Thrax."
"Oh, Marquis Dio, you are far too kind! I am going to get myself a glass of wine," says Nina, who always works better with a little wine in her system, "And then, I will begin the dance program for everyone so that we can all make merry while the bidding begins!" She curtsies her sheer and poofy skirt, and then does as she claimed she would, getting a glass from the refreshments. With her left hand, she is still displaying the necklace, now back on its pillow, and watching it carefully as she does.
Mabelle raises her hand also to capture Caprice's attention and welcome her in her direction should she like, but Harlan calling her a dogthief releases a hearty chuckle, "I did enjoy seeing her back with her kin, how was your week with Toffee? Was she providing the emotional support of hunting teddy bears?", she teases the man before settling her attention upon Calista, "I've missed you terribly", she pecks her cheek.
Auda wanders out onto the Terrace quite late, but perhaps fashionably so? She glances around only until she spies the wine, making her way over that way before really looking around the rest of the room. Priorities, right?
"My darling Mistress Caprice. It has been too long. You look so very lovely tonight! Please be so welcome. I am so glad you are here and that you approve," Valencia offers back to the Virtuoso of Silk, her dark eye admiring her style and presence as ever. "Please enjoy yourself, yes?" she nods wamly to offer a welcoming smile and warm incline of head to Calista as she passes by and to Jareth as well. "Oh, Missere Jareth, it has been some time since I have seen you as well. I am glad you are here. Please be so welcome."
Lexir's first pull from his glass is long and lingering, tongue lazily dragging his lips to clean out the wine after it's done. "The world is vast, and full of undiscovered treasures and sensations. Why handicap yourself with just things alcoholic? I'll try them all out." His gaze sweeps through the room again as he busies himself with another sip of wine, little leisurely waves sent out further afield, to Mabelle and Medeia, to Caprice and Rowenova.
"It is sometimes necessary, I'm afraid," replies Dio to Mabelle smiling. His dark eyes linger on her for a moment, but Lore's words bring a warm smile to his features and he takes another sip of wine. "If any such meetings should be held in the future, I shall expect an invite, Messere," Dio replies to Lore.
At Raja's introduction, Dio says to Samira, "It is a sincere pleasure, Samira. Raja has told me of your work with the youth of the Lowers, and how you have nurtured the arts of Jayus. With your permission, I should like to visit your school someday."
Dio raises his glass in toast to Nina at her words, before his dark eyes turn to Princess Adrienne.
Medeia Laughs briefly at Monique's compliment and shakes her head, saying, "I could never put /you/ to shame, Mo. Look at you." Then she grins at Gaspar, quickly returning a kiss to his cheek as he's near. "Thank you, and truly, the privilege is mine." She dips her head appreciatively to Mabelle. "Thank you, as well, my lady." Her eyes scan that group and then asks, "Do you all know Lord Ciro Seraceni?" A gesture at the man whose arm she's on. "If you don't, I do hope you'll fix that." Her gaze drifts to Harlan with a smile. "Duke Harlan, what a treat for all of us this evening." She still hasn't found that wine. And Ciro said something about a dance. "Of course, we can dance."
Raja looks to Valencia, "I shall m'lady." She dips her head politely. "I have heard many tales of this place. I should have come here much sooner than tonight." Her gaze turns up to the sky above, "It's magnificent up here." She shifts her gaze to Lustry, "Hello. My apologies. I am Raja Culler. It is good to meet you, Princess." She then lifts her own glass to toast Nina's words as well!
"Do tell." Narcissa echoes Calista, focusing her eyes on Jareth until he spills.
Jareth looks slightly bashful.. ''Me.. crush... no my fair companions. I was just complimenting Princess Valencia on the scenery and the evenings turnout." As the mentioned Princess greets him the actor smiles and bows his head to her in greeting.
"They must be catching on that they have to be doubly quick in order to stay with you," Samira remarks to Lustry, jutting her chin toward the guards. "And you're welcome, of course. I enjoy hearing how different people interpret the artwork on display." Noting Dio's approach and hearing Raja's subsequent introduction, she bows her head to the marquis, on her best behavior. "Pleasure to meet you, Marquis Dio. This is a beautiful event you've put on. And thank you. You're welcome to come see it and witness the talents of the Lowers residents. There's a wide array of wonderful art on display there."
Harlan lifts a brow at Mabelle, and then a glass of whatever from a passing server taking a drink. "My week was short lived Lady Mabelle. And nothing ever will see me fully recover from the trauma you put a poor duke- s... dukes plural, through." He takes another drink and can't help but grin. The grin widens for Medeia, "No need to lie to me my lady. No treats are involved with me showing up if the Duchess doesn't join," He trails off and looks behind him for a moment, "I don't think she is coming at least." The talk of dancing gets him to perk up from mid drink, "Oh! I like to dance. I am pretty good at it. Who needs a partner?"
As she steps in to return Mabelle's greeting, Calista's eyes warmly pass Harlan. "It has been a long time Duke Harlan. You are looking well these days. It is good to see you." Then she turns her attention to Mabelle and crinkles her nose. "And I've missed you, terribly, too. We need to have drinks one of these afternoons and just catch up. Come by the pool, we will have a ladies afternoon." With her arm still slinked about Mabelle's waist, the Duchess bows her head to the Hart's proprietor. "Princess Valencia, what a gorgeous rooftop garden. I may have to find a way to steal myself here some evening."
Caught, Adrienne pauses in the ritual of introductions and greetings at a gala to tentatively lift her glass toward Dio from her seat near the musicians. It is a gesture she is still practicing.
Mabelle winks afar to Lexir in acknowledgement and grins to Dio, "Well I shall look forward to the next event that is not tame". Her smile for him lingers for a moment before focusing back on the Fidantes, leaning toward Calista's embrace, "Just say the word and I will be there. I'll even make a new bathing suite in your honor", she winks to her cousin. Harlan again releases a laughter from her, "I do not think the Dukes, plural, were suffering. I did arrange for a nice dinner there at the end, did I not? But perhaps I should arrange for a Toffee lookalike for you from Artshall. I'm going there soon working on a new project"
Lustry smiles as she responds, "Well met Mistress Raja. I was saying how much I love your outfit and was inquiring if it was of your own design. I find it lovely." She looks to Samira as she agrees, "Oh yes, very quickly, and I will try and come by in the next few days."
When his gaze moved from those to catch Calista, the Duchess of Roses through the crowd, his gaze lingered with a warmth to it and a nod of his return in return of the wave. He waved away the compliment from Medeia and grinned back at her though. "Hardly. I'm a droplet in the ocean, fortunate enough to be surrounded by a number of pearls, each more lovely than the last." Whatever it was that Lore had whispered to him, earned a soft chuckle.
Narcissa doesn't seem all too convinced by Jareth's performance and simply shakes her head. With Calista's greetings and well-wishes, she stage whispers behind her hand to Mabelle, "She makes it seem so effortless, doesn't she?"
Monique preens in Medeia's direction, vain creature that she is. But Lore gets the Minx's full attention. "Perhaps we ought to pool our resources and share it?" she teases the other woman. "Shared custody, as it were?" She lifts her drink in salute to Lore and then tugs at Lexir's muscled arm. "Perhaps we ought to find a quiet place away from the throng to strategize?" The invitation open to those around her.
"I frequently host events that are not particularly tame," Nina says, passing by Monique for a moment, with a little smile. "We should have another soon. I think. In the Pravus Ward. I know of a few good spots for one to let their inhibitions a little freer."
As he is guided along by Medeia to a group of rather new faces at least to him Ciro is quick to offer a warm smile, His head dipping in turn to each. His gaze first finding Monique taking in her outfit. And largely the fine jewelery worn by the woman. The man telling her, "Lady Eswynd did not tell me she had friends with such fine tastes, Though I shouldn't be too surpised." A glance briefly given back to Medeia before he looks back to the woman, "It is lovely work you have, I may need the name of your jeweler." With that said he looks to Mabelle and offers a similar dip of his head in greeting though as it raises his head cants slightly to the side as he looks to her, "Your reputation precedes you, The mistress of bees and keeper of fine honey I have heard of. Had been meaning to meet you, though perhaps another time is better for it." The man's focus soon turning between Gaspar and Harlan offering them similar dips of his head in greeting and a warm smile. "Evening, Good to meet you both."
"My dear Mistress Raja, it is never to late to find my Hart and never too late to get to be friends," Valencia nods warmly to the woman as she slips off to leave them to enjoy themselves. Gracefully moving through the crowd, Valencia's large dark eyes drift to see that all have refreshments and are feeling at ease.
Drifting towards Nina, the little Lycene smiles. "My dearest Mistress Nina, thank you for make my roof terrace so magical. Music such as this makes the event so much more special. I thank you for this and am so honoured to have you and your fellow musicians grace us," Valencia smiles gently. "Please let us know should you need anything. My staff ar instructed to see to your care. Simply ask my lady Lizette for anything you may need, yes?"
"You would be very welcome to come and enjoy my Hart, Duchess. As often as you are able to. I'm glad to see you once more. It has been some time," Valencia replies nodding with genuine warmth "And you was well, Miseere Jareth."
The Duchess Calista gives Harlan just enough attention to get him to grin and wink at her. "Clearly the Duchess needs a dance partner!" He holds a hand out to her with a not even halfway subtle wink, which at this point, clearly means he is just trying to be ridiculous. Although Mabelle draws a rather serious look from the Ashford Duke, "Lady Laurent. I can tell the difference between MY dog and a common pretender." When Ciro greets him, he gives a genuine smile and bow of his head.
Monique's attention slips to Nina and there's an easy, attentive nod. "Happily. Name the place and I shall be there. " But Ciro captures her attention next and of course she can't help but preen some more, ego inflating. "I am afraid," a shadow touches her fiery brow, "that the jeweler is no longer with us, but her name was Josephine Arterius and she was peerless. I miss her each and everyday."
Raja looks down to her dress and shifts slightly, "Sadly, I am not gifted with the talent of designing such beautiful garments. What I wear was all gifted to me by people that mean something to me. Sadly, fashion is not my strong point. I rely on those smarter in such things." A laugh escapes her. "But, I do admit, it makes me feel.. amazing." Is she blushing? Yes. Yes she is.
Leaning lightly, playfully, into Gaspar, she winks up at him and chuckles. Turning back to Monique, she lets out a richer laugh and nods, "Perhaps we could work out some sort arrangement, my lady. I would not normally share, but with an esteemed personage such as yourself? That is an option I would be glad to look into." She sips from her glass and lets her eyes drift to Nina once more, lingering on that necklace before turning back to her companions and giving a nod, "I am game for collaboration and strategizing. Perhaps the seaside terrace? It seems quiet enough..."
Mabelle's eyes light up at Ciro's greeting. Another laughter, must be the rum! "Mistress of bees and keeper of fine honey! Oh my! I was never called that. I think the Honey Duke might be jealous!". Holding her side to soothe, she grins at Ciro, "We should most certainly meet, I am quite fond of your house, your Marquis knows well", she glances toward Dio. Mabelle then huffs at Harlan, "Toffee is from Artshall, I was going to get you one but now I wont. And he's my dog!". Narcissa's murmur does grant her an amiable elbow, "She really is not trying, I think. Cousing Calista just oozes luxury"
Marquessa Pudding, a doughy dog arrives, delivering a message to Nina before departing.
As Dio seems to be making his way over towards the terracw where she is seated, Allegra tries to catch his attention, waving her fingers lightly and then making a motion like she is bringing a glass to her lips. Ah the attempt of non-verbal communication.
"The pergola seems emptier though, last I checked," Lexir observes, his wine glass used as some sort of pointer, gesturing here and there. Offering a hand and an arm to Monique, he arches a brow and takes another sip of wining, an expectant look on his face. "As the leader of this little venture, it behooves you to make the final decision!"
Nina does one more circle around the room, and then returns to the musical station. There, she does the following in careful procedure-- puts the cushion with the necklace down -- though, notably, under the watch of one of the present Iron Guard - downs her wine, in one whole drink, and then, picks up her lute. After all of this, she again leads the band in another round of rousing music... this time, picking up the pace for those who wish to dance.
"It is a pleasure, Your Highness," replies Dio to Lustry. His eyes do not shift from the brown and blue eyes of the Princess, as he takes a sip of his wine. A rare, sincere smile crosses Dio's features at Lustry's compliment to Raja's outfit, and he then offers a brief word of pardon as he passes with Valencia to Nina and then towards Adrienne and Allegra.
The Marquis's eyes briefly pass to Ciro and Harlan, and he finishes his wine, before acquiring two more glasses from a passing servant. Coming to stand before the Pravosi Princesses, Dio bows his head, and says, "I am very glad you've come." He offers a glass of Lenosian Red to Allegra. "I hope I've chosen wisely..." he says, watching to see if the red wine is to her liking.
Medeia stops a passing server to get her wine and some rum for Ciro. "This is an incredibly well attended event with many of the best people in the city here tonight," she says to no one in particular. There's still several she hasn't even greeted, but has noticed. "I don't think I'll be able to say hello to everyone I want to unless I just start yelling to them." Quick waves are sent to Narcissa and Valencia whenever she can catch their attention, before she makes her ways toward the terrace where Adrienne sits with Norah and Allegra. "Princess Adrienne, what a delight! How are you? And Prince Sebatian?" Her gaze falls to Allegra. "Hello! I am Lady Medeia Eswynd, this gentleman on my arm is Lord Ciro Seraceni."
A surreptitious grin presses to Calista's full lips and it's anyone's guess to whom she is offering such to. When the Duke of Ashford's hand is extended, even in a wonderfully ridiculous manner, the Fidante takes it and gives the man a gentle squeeze. "Do not tempt me, Duke Harlan. Do you not remember this is how we met at the Velenosa Ball all those years ago? You were new to the city, I had arrived late. A sweet little ingenue then, I did not see you and we fell into the dance floor. You were quick to recover and pretend it was all on purpose. This man has the flair for theatrics, let me tell you!" Calista shares with Narcissa, Mabelle, and Jareth. "I would never turn down the opportunity to dance as my partner is so many miles away in Tor." There's a flash of brilliant white in her charming smile for both ladies. "You are going to make me turn scarlet."
Caprice leaves Valencia's immediate presence with a warm smile - which lingers as she catches the movement from Lexir and dips her head in a respectful nod towards him and his own current company. "Delightfully busy," she responds to Lustry, turning with interest that brightens in recognition for the Princess's new acquaintances. "Samira, good to see you here! Messere Raja, you do look exquisite." Dio's remarks to Samira draw the clothier's smile a little wider; she dips in a curtsey for him while he's still near, "Marquis, thank you for putting together such a lovely event. And it's in support of the Liberators?"
Lustry smiles as she says to Raja, "Whoever did gift you this dress has a wonderful eyes, you wear it wonderfully. I mean that." She looks to Caprice with a fond smile, "Busy is always a wonderful thing." She looks back to Dio as she compliments, "This even is indeed very lovely Marquis. I not think we have met though. I am Princess Lustry Thrax."
At Ciro's remarks, Gaspar looked the man over quickly and smiled. "My lord." There was a bit more study, but he was polite enough. "Marquis Gaspar Tessere." The laughter from Lore had him smiling all the more (rhyme!). He sipped at his wine comfortably and enjoyed the evening and company.
Ciro's smile falters hearing Monique talk of the artist behind such beautiful work no longer being with them. His features softenin as he looks to her with a look of sympathy, "I am sorry, I did not know. Her loss surely is one that is felt by her fellow artisans and her work a reminder of the woman that held such a creative spark." His head dips to her with that being said. When Mabelle offers her response to his greeting that smile soon returns as he looks to her, "Well I do hope he does not get so jealous as to rob us of the chance to talk further, And that is good news. Perhaps we can meet at the water gardens day after tomorrow for a bit of discussion and drink?" The man proposing before being drawn off for rum and more introductions. Medeia is given a look and Ciro leans in whispering to her moments later before turning a warm smile to Adrienne, "Princess." His head dipping to her before looking to Allegra a flick of recongition showing as if it were there but just out of grasp why she seemed familiar.
A warm smile and wave is returned to Mediea, the little vixen seeming happy to greet both her and Norah. "Welcome," she calls with a brightening smile. "And congratulations to you and your new lord. Lord Haakon seems a very nice man. And welcome, Marquessa Eswynd. It is beautiful to see you again. Thank you for gracing us with your company. My best to your Marquis," she add with a graceful inclien of her head.
Narcissa continues to Mabelle from behind the fluttering of her stygian folding fan, "Yes, and that is the beauty of it! It is not an act, or even an attempt, it just simply is. All the best talents are naturals, though a well-trained student can sometimes become close to the prodigy..." she banishes the thought with a lift of her small shoulders. "A flair for the theatrics is an accessory finally suited for the dance floor. Shall you have a tango?"
"Perhaps Adrienne. I must admit that dancing has never been something I have ever really attempted. Hard to look elegant and graceful when one of your legs wants to do something and the other basically tells it /hello...want to re-think that?/." Allegra nods once however and then shrugs. "Perhaps I shall take you up on your offer tho." As Dio arrives with the requested wine, an incline of her head is given as she takes it. "You only add to your legendary status Captain...your chivalry is unmatched. I am sure it will be to my liking." A small sip is taken and she gives a somewhat forced smile. "It's...wonderfully different."
Harlan lifts his brow at Mabelle, "We should let Toffee choose LAdy Laurent!" He turns his head and lowers his gaze at Calista and smiles, "Or perhaps. I remember quite clearly Duchess Fidante, and I am surreptitiously trying to recreate such magic?" He lifts his chin a bit to seem like he has planned all this out. Likely not true, but he does his best to make it seem like he is that calculated. "In the end If I get a dance, I win one way or another."
"I'll look forward to seeing you there then," Samira notes to Lustry. She sneaks another admiring glance toward Raja, perhaps unused to seeing her fellow Culler so dressed up. Sliding an arm thrugh Raja's, she leans in to murmur a quiet remark. Probably more praise. Caprice receives a bright smile as soon as the artist's focus lands upon her. "Caprice! I'm glad to see you here. You've already made Princess Lustry's acquaintance then? And you and Raja know each other?" It seems she's checking to ensure no introductions ought to be made.
Wine in hand, Auda's attention turns to the people that are actually here! She strolls towards Raja and those with her, giving a little nod to them all. So far she's quiet, but that means very little.
"Marquis Dio Seraceni," murmurs Adrienne as she rises, a glass of sparkling wine mostly untouched in her hand. "What a beautiful moment you have created here. And from naval strategy to art in such short time? Do you have a preference between the two studies?" She lets Dio and Allegra discuss the wine while turning to greet Ciro and Medeia. Her movements are fluid and the look in her pale and golden eyes is kind while she figures out who is talking to her. "Lady Medeia, Lord Ciro." Those eyes narrow with faint speculation. "I understand congratulations are in order. You won a competition?" She leans in to offer Medeia a kiss to the air beyond her cheek, however, with a few whispered words for the Lady Eswynd.
"The pergola, I think, looks like a lovely place to make a plan," Monique decides with an easy grin between Lore and Lexir that stretches wider still as she heads in that direction. But before she does, there's a meaningful look to Ciro and the Minx leans in to murmur something private.
Mabelle glances between Harlan and Calista, "Yes, his charms are quite the presence. He keeps trying to take away my dog. Perhaps its his way to.. no! I shall not say it!", she teases, likely having nothing to say at all. Smiling over to Ciro, Mabelle promises, "Certainly. But you will have to remind me because .. because you will have to remind me", she blames the rum and winks to Ciro, "I'm sure Marquis Dio will not mind if I spend time with another pirate", she winks to him as well. Or maybe her eye has a twitch from all the sparkling, who knows. Blinking with BOTH eyes she asks Narcissa, "Are you offering me to tango?" and then informs Harlan undoubtly, "She will choose me".
Monique has joined the cozy vine-covered pergola.
Raja can now feel heat in her cheeks as the Princess continued to praise her outfit. "Thank you. I will make sure they know of your generous praise." Raja's face is red now. Could it be the wine? No.. she has had so very little. Wait, it is the lack of wine. Her glass is lifted to her lips where she sips of the red wine. Her dark gaze turns to Samira and then she just gives the woman a hug. "Thanks." She says to whatever is said to her. She leans in to whisper to Samira, but very briefly. She glances to Caprice and smiles, "I think we have met before, though I can remember where.."
Harlen arrives, following Duarte.
"To the pergola, then!" Lore lifts her glass and turns to follow Monique, tucking her arm into Gaspar's to lead him along with her. She sips from her glass then looks up to him with a grin, "You've become part of the party now, my lord. I'm afraid there's no going back." Chuckling, she moves to join Monique and Lexir at the pergola.
Lore has joined the cozy vine-covered pergola.
Narcissa finds her turn to blink at Mabelle, "I...was asking our darling cousin, Calista if she would have a tango, but if you so wish I can perhaps be convinced Lady Laurent."
Lexir has joined the cozy vine-covered pergola.
"Honestly, I expected nothing less, Duke Harlan." Calista dips into a elegant and graceful curtsey. "I shall let you lead the way. It'll be a wonderful change of pace. My servants tire of me leading them around the rooms whenever I feel the need to break into dance." There's some talk about taking one of Mabelle's decadently named pooches and something about a tango. Shadowed emerald eyes carefully watch her cousins conspiring. "I do not like this." She teases Narcissa.
Gaspar has joined the cozy vine-covered pergola.
"In passing," Caprice offers in response, with a glance to Raja as if to confirm. "We met in a rush at Brother Felix's shop once and I've been interested in seeing her work ever since. We share a patron as well, if I'm not mistaken. And I'm honored to be assisting Her Highness with an upcoming event.. Ooh." At last it seems the quicker pace of the music has pierced the din of conversation. Bright-eyed, she turns her head. "Are we dancing? We should be dancing."
Whatever Ciro whispered to her has Medeia laughing softly and whispering something back before having that greeting from Adrienne and giving a similar kiss to the air beside her cheek. "No, not quite /won/ so much as saved a woman a headache and inherited... a headache." She glances at Ciro. "Somehow this one convinced me to let it be a /joint/ headache." She smirks at Ciro.
Mabelle pouts at Calista, "Do not get jealous. I want to dance too. Its not my fault I'm only getting invitations from my female cousins!", she protests.
Norah looks up from where she is seated with her glass of iced tea. "Headaches are best shared," she opines to Medeia. "At the very least, someone else understands your pain."
"I'm glad you've come, Messere Caprice," replies Dio smiling. "Yes, in these times of apostates doubting the gifts of Skald and many of our finest warriors risking their lives, I'd hoped to see some money and attention to the Liberators in the hopes that there might be some good out of all of this, even if I'm not around to see it."
Dio bows to Lustry. "You are right, Your Highness. I am Marquis Dio Seraceni, and it is a pleasure to meet you."
When Allegra speaks of Dio's chivalry, the Pirate Lord laughs. "Careful with accusations of my chivalry, Your Highness. Someone might take you seriously." He watches Allegra's reaction to the wine. "You cannot tell me you don't love Lenosian Red...?"
Turning to Adrienne, Dio smiles. "They are bound for me, Your Highness. Naval prowess affords us greater opportunity to enjoy the riches of Gild." The marquis smiles to see Medeia and Ciro. "I plan on having many headaches on account of your winnings, should it ever produce a drinkable rum."
Following the scent of fresh baked pastries mixed with an assortment of booze, Duarte eventually tracks his way to the Hart's rooftop. He take a big whiff of the air and 'ahhhs'. He slides the way of the baked goods and begins to pile them on a plate. It is no wonder how he's gotten that little paunch he's begun to develop in the mid section (as men his age are wont to do). And then - to wash down these delectable treats - is whiskey. Of course.
The guests mingling and chatting happily seem to bring even more warmth to Valencia's smile. Drifting back to keep an eye upon things, the dark eyed Lycene seems to find a great sense of joy in seeing all enjoying the music and the ambiance of the lantern lit rooftop. For a moment, she looks up to the dark night sky, her smile sweet and her expression soft and warm as she simply takes a moment and breath.
Lexir Lexir snags some snacks from a passing server - okay, to be honest, he snags the entire tray ("Let me just take this of your ha-") - and brings it along with him to the pergola, a healthy selection of figure-ruining pastries and cakes alongside marginally more healthier fruits, sans the chocolate dipped variety. "Messere Artiglio, might I asked how you're acquainted with the Minx here? A fan of the short fiction written about her, perhaps?"
Nina who must run the show, of course cannot go out and dance while she is still playing. But for the benefit of the party, she's playing up a storm. Sticking to lute tonight, she has her fingers moving fiercely as she provides the dance music from the stage. Her outfit glitters, and so does that dragonweep necklace, on guard and just out of reach.
Ciro's head dips respectfully to Adrienne as she greets him, "Ah yes, in a way. There was gambling involved, a proper night of it with liars and cheats and just a small bit of attempted poisoning. But made it through and now have a lovely little disaster to tear from the jaws of despair and make a shining gem making Ischia's finest rum." The man's words are warm and playful but also sincere, As if the man had no doubt that they could do such a thing. The man grinning as he looks to Medeia, "A gem.. a beautiful gem that we just need to..do lots to." The man giving a little shrug as he lifts his glass taking a deep drink from the rum on that note.
"What ever helps you sleep at night Lady Laurent." Harlan says teasingly to Mabelle. Clearly. Or hopefully clearly, he is joking. When Calista accepts his offer to dance he beams brightly, "Ah excellent! I promise I was a lot better than last time!" Likely true! He has had a few lessons, "Worry not Lady Mabelle. Despite your unapologetic theft of something that brings me joy. I still was going to ask you next." He says confidently as IF she would bother to dance with him.
"I remain unconvinced." Narcissa clicks her tongue to chide Calista's assurance, a soft peal of rippling laughter soon following before she drowns the merry notes with the last of her wine. Jareth refills it just in time and she dips her head to him with gratitude. "You always know when to enter, your stage directions have always been superb."
Lustry begins to make her way towards Ciro and Medeia as she inquires, "Mind if I join you two?" Her hands trading her now empty glass of rum for a new, full one. A gently sip on it as she smiles.
Mabelle collects her new drink from Jareth with a grateful smile, "Thank you, so kind". She narrows her eyes at Harlan, "I might hold you to that", before informing Narcissa, "I'm not sure I like this ban on conspiring. What am I to do with the other 23 hours of my day?"
"The key, Lady Narcissa.. is to watch and listen." He then lufts his wine glass in salute.
"My brother is among those who founded the order," Caprice notes with enthusiasm, and no small bit of pride, to Dio. Lifting her 'shackled' wrists as if for emphasis, she adds, "I'm delighted to do my part, however modest by comparison, to aid in your endeavor." And on that note, the copper-haired clothier is turning to slip through the crowds, possibly to find an unwitting dance partner on her way to a clear space.
Samira smiles fondly at Raja, sliding her arms around her in a return hug. Her movements carry a gentle quality, as if taking care not to muss the other woman's hair or outfit. The murmured remark earns a curious glance and a nod. "Oh, that's right. I'd nearly forgotten you're both Lady Zoey's proteges. Raja, I hadn't had a chance to tell you, but Caprice has agreed to take me on as her protege, brave woman that she is." She sensd a playful grin toward Caprice, then glances to the musicians. "Mm, I may need a drink if there's to be dancing."
Duarte finds a place to settle with his stacked plate of pastries. He selects a croissant and begins to pick off the lycene chocolate, creating a discarded pile of chocolate shards on his plate.
"Fair point, Marquessa," Medeia notes to Norah. "Is that how we both handle my husband? A shared headache?" The petite woman teases, but there is fondness in her expression and tone. She looks aside to Dio with a laugh. "Marquis Dio, do not doubt me. I have years of experience producing wines and other liquors. Any failure I will blame squarely on your cousin." She winks at Ciro. "Mm, it just needs... so very much polish." Lustry's approach is met with a grin. "Princess Lustry! I not only don't mind, I insist. Join us. Princess Lustry Thrax, do you know Princess Adrienne Pravus? And my Marquessa, Norah Eswynd." She gestures at the two women.
Lustry has joined the seaview terrace.
"Conspire to conspire, naturally." Narcissa advises Mabelle.
Of course she likes Lenosian Red. Everbody likes Lenosian Red...right? Allegra takes another sip and give Dio another smile. "Of course. Who doesn't? The way it lingers on the palette..." She rolls her eyes and laughs softly. "It tastes just fine. I mean it is not Setarco Gold...but let's be honest, what is?" As more people join the terrace seating, they are given a smile of welcoming, but Allegra chooses to not intervene in their conversations for an introduction just yet.
Adrienne's brows arch higher as she is treated to tales of poisonings, gambling, rum, and treasure. Uncertain, she answers with a gaze travelling between Medeia and Ciro, "Lady Medeia is a woman of undeniable accompliment, and I've heard nothing but delighted praise of your exploits in Arx, Lord Ciro. If you believe your venture, then I believe in you. Perhaps you might find it in you to make a Pravosi vintage." Does rum come in vintages? Who knows? Definitely not the Valardin. Adrienne touches a hand to Allegra's arm and murmurs, simply, "You have my word. I'd not let you be embarrassed. Or do you dance as well as you fight and you create, Marquis Dio?"
For these new introductions, Adrienne turns her gaze to Lustry and Norah with a mild tilt of her chin. "It is my pleasure to make your acquaintance. The Marquis and Princess Valencia - and of course our Nina Autumndale - have created something beautiful here, in sight and in company, have they not?"
Raja smiles to Caprice, "I opened a shop in the Lowers. I really should work on some more projects. I haven't advertised yet as I feel I need more items to be in the shop before I do such a thing." She glances between Samira and Caprice. "Well, I hope it all works out for you two. I just know Lady Zoey has been the most amazing woman to work under. I only have the most respect for her." The talk of dancing is spoken and she pauses. "I could try to dance. I am not sure how well I will do in these shoes." She smirks, "And the dancing that is most appropriate for this setting is not the sort of dancing I know. But, I can learn!"
Mabelle glances toward Narcissa, "Are we allowed to conspire in general, then?"
Lustry gracefully slips into the seats as she responds, "I have not had the pleasure until now. It is lovely to meet you Princess Adrienne and you as well Marquessa Norah. This is quite a lovely party." She looks to Medeia, "Thank you for the introductions Lady Medeia, is it greatly appreciated." She offers a nod with Adrienne, "Indeed they truly have."
"Hmm, we shall see and Lady Narcissa and Lady Mabelle will be the judges of that, Duke Harlan." Calista replies with a soft, mellifluous laugh. A touch of that crimson she warned about earlier kisses the apples of her cheeks. "Do you even have twenty-three hours, Mabelle? You are quite the socialite, my dear. And now I have to wonder what it is Master Jareth has been observing alllll these years. Perhaps we will have to invite him to our ladies pool party so that he may provide some delicious gossip." A step or two away from the group has Calista's hips swaying beneath the embrace of teal silk. "I cannot promise that I will not step on your toes. I can sometimes be vertically challenged." The last just said in passing as to not focus so much on the fact that at times Calista can be clumsy and trip over her own two feet.
Narcissa sets her glass down to then clap her hands together jovially. "Yes! The most important matter is -what- to conspire 'in general' about first. Shall we circle back around to Missere Jareth's unadmitted crush on whatever has caught his eye as of late? Or do you have another item in mind?" A beat. "Oh wait, now we are to act as judge and jury of Duke Harlan."
Only once the croissant has become a thing of sacrilege - it's chocolatey exterior fully picked off - does Duarte sample it.
"Truly, the creation is all that of Mistress Nina and Marquis Dio. I have simply offered my Hart to hold all this wonderful," Valencia smiles warmly back to Adrienne. "I am glad you approve. And congratulations to you as well on your recent marriage. I'm trilled that Prince Sabastian has found such a beautiful match. Prince Patrizio speaks very highly of you," she nods gently. "I hope you will visit my Hart more often. You are both welcome here."
"You're likely to sell out nearly as soon as you've made your stock public," is Caprice's expert opinion to Raja. "I empathize with the feeling, indeed, but I hope you won't let it hold you back! As for -projects-," the glimmering chains about her frame are beginning to sway, influenced by the subtler movement of her body finding the rhythm of the music. "If you find yourself needing more, -do- let me know... I can give you half a dozen. Yes! Dancing! Drink up - go barefoot if you'd like. I'll join you. And show you something for a group! Or we can make up our own, in the spirit of the event."
Norah bows her head to Lustry and Adrienne. "Your Highnesses, a pleasure. How do you know our Lady Medeia?"
Mabelle turns her eyes to Harlan anew, piercing him with her crystal orbs, "I did not steal her! She is mine! I am not to blame that you like pink dogs. I shall complain to the other dukes and we will bring you to Duke Court and I'll be right". Duke Court. There should really be a Duke court. Winking to Calista, she tells her, "I have about twelve. Is that enough to conspire? And speaking of, you might find interest in my new venture through the Oathlands, I'll write you a note later". Always working. Stop working. "I can judge Duke Harlan without looking", Mabelle promises Narcissa, a grin hanging from her lips, impish, bearing all bad things, "Well as long as I can conspire against something. And as for Jareth", she grins at the man, "I wouldnt know".
Dio's eyes widen at Medeia's words. Turning to Ciro, he says, "Is there anything she can't do?" Dio laughs warmly at Allegra's words, and says, "Indeed you are right. But if there is anything you perfer - you must tell me. A gala in honor of the Liberators means you are free to drink Lenosian Red or not, and you must make a choice you won't regret - or a choice that you'll regret later - but not now."
At Adrienne's question, Dio smiles, and shakes his head. "No, Your Highness, but I enjoy it a great deal. There is something about losing oneself in the music, and the movements of one's partner that is a rare ecstasy. Do you dance, if I may ask?"
Harlan chuckles softly at Calista, "I am sure they will judge in my favor. I am older. Wiser, a better dancer, and somehow, I did not think it possible, more handsome than ever." He says with a big stupid grin, offering one open hand up high for Calista, preparing for a dance. "Shall I prove it?" First the question is posed to the duchess, but then he looks to his judges as well with a smile.
Adrienne's pale eyes warm for Valencia as she counters with the ease of a lifetime's practice, "Unfortunately, you are bound to accept my compliments, your Highness. I have not been to your Hart, and I am worse for having waited so long. I'll happily accept your invitation and share may thanks with our new general."
Adrienne's mouth gives a faint twitch at Norah's question before she answers, quite soberly, "Lady Medeia /Saik/ was a guest at my wedding and hosted myself and Prince Sebastian for a wine tasting at her home. It was our first outing, and I could not have imagined a better one. She was very patient with my ignorance."
When Lustry comes over Ciro offers her a grin, "Ah if it isn't the Princess of Ocotpi and contests. Evening.." His head dipping with those words before lifting as he tells her, "And not at all, Please join us. We were merely enjoying a bit of banter and our drinks before things get interesting and we see the real danger in the city." The man giving a quick wink before dropping his voice to faux whisper to the trio, "I would not want to be the winner of this auction." When Adrienne asks of doing a Pravosi vintage he smiles, "I am sure that will make its way through and be a fine drink indeed. I may even have just the idea for it." The man grinning as he tells her that. Ciro's glass lifted, "And I do hope they have been only the good exploits." The man's words edged in mischief before he is shaking his head, "I do not fight like my cousin no, Though dance..that I have been known to do a time or two.." A sidelong glance given to Medeia as he tells her, "I told you I might dance tonight, And just think of how happy Dio will be its not with fire or in the manor." A wicked grin slipping along his lips as the words spill from Ciro with clear amusement. The question from Dio has Ciro looking his way, "Not that I have found as of yet, I would wager on no.. More than I wagered on other things tonight."
Duarte goes to take a third bite of his croissant when something flutters in his periphery, catching his eye. Mouth agape, Duarte slowly lowers the bread. He searches the crowd for what that flitter flatter could've been. Then he sees Caprice waving at him. He stands and abandons his plate where it is (but brings the whiskey) and drifts off into the tailor's direction. "Messere Caprice. The evening finds you well."
Nina rises from her seat, and takes a bow, taking a moment. "All Lords, Ladies, and citizens of Arx, present here tonight. By your leave, we shall have one more rousing dance, to the drums, before the auction of the necklace will begin. For those who wish to dance, please let yourself be free and let your spirits soar on this beautiful summer night! And for those who do not wish to dance, do as you will, but I insist you enjoy yourself regardless!"
Nina gives a curtsey, turns, and stomps her feet a few more times. She claps her hands once, and another song begins, that one heavy on the drums at first, for those who want to get into foot-stomping and dancing around. The flute player picks out high notes, and Nina here simply leads the motion, spinning around so that her skirts flare as she leads by example.
Raja beams a smile towards Caprice. "Let's dance! Forget everyone and everything else! Let us dance in honor of our freedom! Or freedom of choice!" The Liberator lifts her drink, finishing it off before heading out to the dance floor. She becons Samira to come along as well!
"Judging without looking; you continue to be full of all sorts of surprises." Narcissa compliments Mabelle, amusement dancing in her golden eyes. Their attention slides over to Harlan. "You have no other choice but to prove it, duke."
Jareth harumphs gently at Narcissa thinking he has a crush, he decided with a wink of his scarred brow. "Are you so sure it would not be you who has caught my eye, M'lady.. for I know my flowery words simply amuse Lady Laurent."
"Dearest cousin, Lady Mabelle, I've just decided, you need to meet my friend, Lord Yuri Tessere. I will arrange it. You have so much radiance you could cheer an entire army of dour nobles and make them forget their woes." Still in mid hold, just about to embark on a dance with Harlan, the Duchess of Roses calls to Santino, her assistant and bids him to send a messenger, pronto. However, her words are said in haste as the hostess, Nina gives an announcement. "Duke Harlan, we must light a fire on that dance floor. Do not embarrass me or disappoint me." She tells him as if this were the competition of a lifetime.
Adrienne listens to Nina before her gaze falls to Dio, a rare warmth in the reserved Pravosi Princess. "I do dance, yes, and although I would not pretend to match your sensibilities, I do enjoy it. It's likely the only reason I survived my last trip to Setarco. Our people love a party." And isn't /that/ an understatement.
"All that matters, my dear Princess Adrienne, is that you have found my Hart now," Valencia nods back with earnest grace. "I am glad you like it so well. I look forward to seeing your lovely presence more often, highness. Seeing my Hart full of such good company is something I adore." Turning, a welcoming smile is offered to Duarte. "It is lovely to see another familiar face, my lord. Please be so welcome back to my Hart. I hope you will be supporting this excellent cause, yes?"
The movement draws Samira's attention more closely to Caprice's garments, admiration shining in her gaze. The talk of dancing draws another wry smile from her as she acquiesces with a shrug of her slender shoulders. "Sounds like it could be fun! What's the worst that could happen, besides a couple trod-upon toes?" Reaching out abruptly to snag a drink from the tray of a passing server, she hastily downs the drink before discarding the glass and obligingly following Raja and Caprice onto the dance floor.
Raja checks dexterity and athletics at normal. Raja marginally fails.
Lustry offers a nod to Norah before she looks to Ciro, "Evening to you as well Lord Ciro." She just sips on her rum once more before she asks, "And what sort of banter did I possible miss?" A curious grin curling those lips as she inquires. She mentions to Ciro, "I was wanting to come and watch the auction and see all the lovely work."
Mabelle grins and Narcissa, and totally aimed to tease Harlan, Mabelle notes to her, "Oh I've just seen enough". Her grin remains hanging on her lips before she assures Jareth, "Oh! I love your flowery words. I just do not understand them". Mabelle chuckles at Calista then, assuring her, "I've met Yuri indeed. A sweet man . Always worrying about his mother. I do enjoy his company however and would not mind to meet him again".
"It will find me better, Count Amadeo," Caprice replies to Duarte with a breathless laugh, encouraging applause aimed towards Raja and Samira, "if you'd join us in dancing. Or if you're unavoidably detained," she slants an understanding look to his whiskey, "have you ever been a caller before?"
Harlan checks charm and performance at normal. Harlan is successful.
Dio's dark eyes remain on Ciro for a moment. "You didn't... our silver..." He finishes his wine in one drink, and hands it to a passing server. Turning to Adrienne and bowing with a courtly Lycene flourish, he says, "May I have this dance, Your Highness?"
Calista checks charm and performance at normal. Calista is successful.
"It's terribly loud, my dear. I've not worn a collar." Duarte says to Caprice - who has decided to take her life in her own hands by asking the Count to Dance.
Duarte accepts Caprice's offer and hand to have a dance, but then Valencia's words catch Duarte's ear and he turns. He is caught right off guard. "The...cause?" he shifts his eyes to the side and leans an ear toward Caprice, hoping she will whisper to him what the cause is before he makes a total fool of himself.
Dancing. If one thought the little Lyence princess could not smile any more, they would be sorely mistaken. At seeing Nina's take to the floor in a ripple of skirts andn grace, she cannot help herself. The smile only grows brighter as she is join by more lovely ladies as Caprice, Raja and Samira join in the dance as well. Softly she clasps her hands together and watches with growing delight and soon it is Dio and Adrienne who also grace the floor.
Medeia smiles at Lustry as she joins them. "Have you come into possession of any new rums, your highness?" Then, she glances at Norah before looking to Adrienne as she answers. "Ah, yes," Looking back to Norah, she asks, "Remember the wedding I dragged Haakon to? Was hers." An amused look to Adrienne. "Your wedding was one of the first 'tests' he passed during courtship. Thank you." She laughs at Dio's question and Ciro's answer. "There is /plenty/ I cannot do. Like grow a vegetable. Or convince an animal to do anything. Or turn hide into wearable armor. Or sail a ship." See? There are things. "Shall we dance then, my lord?" She holds her hand out to Ciro.
Dancing is not one of Raja Culler's strong suits, but she does seem to enjoy herself! Thankfully, she manages to stay upright, but her moves are a little.. off. In spite of it, she continues dancing, laughing with Samira and Caprice.
Ciro checks charm and manipulation at normal. Ciro is marginally successful.
Harlan smiles once last time and bows his head to Calista, "I would never Duchess. That would be rude." And well she had asked so Harlan starts leading them on a dance around the floor area designated for that. He might might not exactly be super creative or risk taking, but he knows his moves and can keep them moving a a decent pace, with enough flare to be passable.
After only the slightest of pauses, Adrienne offers her hand to Dio - the other sets down her glass of sparkling wine. "It would be my honor, Marquis. Your Highnesses, my Lords and Ladies, please pardon me a moment." With a chivalry innate to Valardin, Adrienne murmurs something politely to Dio, a negotiation perhaps of who is leading who as she joins him on the floor.
"Flowery words only amuse me too, unless there is a talent behind them." Narcissa retorts with good humor to Jareth. She drains the rest of her wine and with a last glance to the crowd extends an apology, "The throng has grown beyond my capacity for the day I fear, you will have to forgive me. I do bid you all a good evening and thank you for the mirth. "
A gently amused look is given to the Count Duarte. "Marquis Dio and Mistress Nina are raising funds to assist the Liberators in their work," Valencia explains patiently, her dark eyes smiling as more join the dancing. "There will be an auction, but I am sure donations would be so very welcome and are much needed, yes? I hope you and everyone here will support his efforts. There are so many to assist."
Dio checks charm and performance at easy. Dio is successful.
Duarte nods to Caprice's kind ofference of details. He mouths 'thank you' to the tailor. Then he looks to Valencia and smiles, "Of course!" Then he snaps his heels together and says to Caprice, "But first!...."

The question from Lustry has Ciro grinning, "Only the best of banter, on the distillery myself and Lady Eswynd found our way to getting it." The man giving a little shrug before he nods, "Of course, it should be a rather fine show of things I figure. Know I spent more than a few hours looking at it when it was in the manor." When Dio asks that question there is a blink and then another, "It was only 200, don't fret so much cousin. I'll win it back before you know it." A warmth showing there but with how he leans in and whispers something quickly to Medeia before attempting to drag her off to dance some might be left to wonder 200 what.
Lustry smiles as she mentions, "Lord Orland was very generous and sent me a bottle of Maelstrom White Rum and also a bottle of a bottle of silver nightmare rum. Which I was estatic to recieve. And still very excited for the rum tasting contest that we will be hosting Lady Medeia." She then looks to Ciro as she responds, "I am very excited to see what rum or rums you are going to be submitting to my contest."
Allegra does enjoy watching, and the Lenosian wine is growing on her actually. Her eyes fall to the dance floor, a smile on her lips as she obviously is finding amusement and pleasure in watching all of the people dancing. She murmurs more so to herself, anyone at her table maybe hearing her. "Those stairs were worth it."
Mabelle glances up to Narcissa, "No dancing? I shall see you another day, soon". She smiles to her warmly and squeezes her hand. when Jareth murmurs something to her, she smiles, "Of course, only if you promise not to dance better than me".

Calista is, for all intents and purposes doing a lovely job on the dance floor as Harlan's partner. She stays in time and keeps her steps with his. It is not the sort of Lycene display she might put on at the villa soirees, but she is having a wonderful time. When she is turned, Calista turns and does not stumble over her toes. Their steps go forwards and backwards, they stomp when the dance calls for stomping AND there's even a lift that is executed quite nicely. All in all Calista and Harlan are redeemed from their past attempts.
Adrienne checks perception and empathy at easy. Adrienne fails.
Dio cannot hide his amusement at Adrienne's delay, but Medeia's words cause him to laugh, and at Ciro's words he opens his mouth - but when the Pravosi princess actually accepts his proposal with such eloquence, Dio looks surprised, though not unhappy. Taking her hand, he moves towards the terrace overlooking the sea, and by the music of musicians of the Bards College, he moves with Adrienne in simple, but not ungraceful steps to the time of the music.

Apparently Cullers are more accustomed to drunken dancing in the Murder than the refined dancing that occurs at social events such as this one. Samira joins the others on the dance floor, but her moves are far from graceful. Attempting a fancy turn (or what she thinks passes for one) with a flourish, she trips over her own feet and loses her balance. Flailing as she begins to topple, she instinctively grabs the nearest thing - which happens to be Raja's arm.
Narcissa has left the lush garden seating.
Nevermore, the sulking raven, 3 Fidante House Guards leave, following Narcissa.
Duarte, not paying attention, looking good, trips over Samira and sommersaults into Adrienne.
Mabelle allows Jareth to hold onto her arm and lead her to the dancefloor. She smiles to him and holds onto his hands in all the super appropriate places.

She is, as usual, a rather talented and graceful presence on the dance floor.
Lustry gracefully begins to rise up and makes her way to the dance floor and begins to just dance with herself in a series of spins to the music.

Harlan happily ruins exactly zero of the Duchess shoes. He smiles as they go about their routine. One might think it planned, "See. Told you I was better now." Harlan says with a wink mid-lift. He sets her down gently and they go on about their merry way for the rest of the dance, "Or do I still need more judges?" He asks grinning and looking about at some of the less successful displays of the dancing arts.
The dancers reel and about the floor with reckless abandon. Even the mishaps, which inevitably happen at such events, are spectacular. From the sidelines, Valencia's brow lift softly in gentle concern, ready to discreetly call for assistance should the dancing cause any sort of unfortunate injury. Fortunately, there is a great deal of fine drink flowing to take the edge off any turned ankles it would seem, though that may be the cause rather than the remedy.
More at ease on a dance floor than she is holding a glass of wine at a gala, Adrienne makes quiet conversation and lets Dio lead her across the floor beneath starlight and to the whisper of steelsilk.
Up until the moment that a wild Count Duarte comes barrelling across the dance floor. Adrienne sees him too late. Whatever she might have said to Dio is cut off as she collides roughly with her partner, hand horsecollaring him at the neck of his robe. "What the- Count Duarte?!" Surprise and irritation turns into look of utter dismay because it is one of her vassals that has collided with her and while this may be mentioned in some book of etiquette, she's quite forgotten the page. "Shall we throw you at the Skal'dajans? You may be our secret weapon." She offers a reassuring narrowing of her eyes before resuming her dance with a look of profound apology to Dio.
Raja laughs as Samira begins to topple! Who else is better to laugh at than your own family? But wait.. Samira is toppling right into her! Raja lets out a sharp startled sound and has to work to try and catch the falling artist! Somehow, she manages to keep them up, but this leaves Raja laughing heartily! "Careful there twinkle toes! You would think you were learning to dance from me!"
A lithe actor, Jareth leds the Lady Mabelle onto the dance floor. He listens to her and smiles, "Of course.. I shall .." Well whatever the salt and pepper man was clearly about to say is lost when he moves just a little too close to a lantern..."Waut... oh.." He sniffs and has a look of panic while trying to stop a thenrising flane and smoke from his arm... Well.. he has played in a comedy or five.....
"Oh- oh no- oh NO-" Caprice can only watch in fascinated horror as her unwitting dance partner takes out half of the crowd... Her hands lift to cover her cheeks, her mouth. Her shoulders shake. She's... laughing.
Ciro moves onto the dance floor with Medeia moving to face her after finding that little space of lone dance floor. The man bowing deeply to her before taking her hand stepping in close, Ciro's movements holding a subtle grace to them as he begins to move with Medeia following the music with his movements. Ciro's head dipping in to speak softly with Medeia as he moves with her on the dance floor.
Lustry gracefully slips from the dance floor to handle a missive, moving to a quieter part of the area to read over it.
Diane, a bright-eyed peregrine falcon arrives, delivering a message to Lustry before departing.
Monique gets Silhouette, a slender leather-wrapped steel stiletto from the secret places on Monique's body where weapons hide.
Monique wields Silhouette, a slender leather-wrapped steel stiletto.
Duarte clambers up and dusts himself off. Adrienne's dismay is received with a slow inhale, and reply. "I believe nothing is broken, your highness, thank you for your concern." He turns to walk back to Caprice, but limps. He frowns deeply and looks down to the dance floor. "I seem to be missing a shoe..."
They might need to bob and weave about some of the other dancers. From somewhere a wild shoe (not spidersilk) comes flying across, just between Harlan and Calista's faces. "Oof! Well, We are certainly in no position to judge or well be judged anymore!" Calista says as she turns from a potential elbow coming right for her. "I believe this is a socialite's battlefield.
Mabelle blinkes for a moment as her partner catches.... fire. She squeals and pulls her arms away from him because she's highly flammable. "Water, water!", this is not how dances should go!
Medeia takes The Ender of Queens, a stygian-handled rubicund stiletto from black honeysilk garter.
Samira can't quite stifle her giggles as she goes careening right into Raja's arms, inadvertently causing a chain reaction of dancer mishaps to which she is apparently completely oblivious. She loops one arm around Raja's shoulders and throws the other out in an exuberant fashion - woe betide any dancers in her way this time - to strike an exaggerated pose. "TADA!" As if she meant to do all that.
Medeia puts The Ender of Queens, a stygian-handled rubicund stiletto in black honeysilk garter.
Lustry reads over the missive and slips out of the party, offering an apologetic smile before descending down the stairs.

Harlan blinks a few times and leads Calista away from the flaming thespian. "Indeed. Lessons seem to have paid off." He ducks sharply, "Remind me when I catch fire my dancing days are over yes?"
Whatever Dio's reaction to the collision with Adrienne on account of Duarte, it would be hard to interpret as displeased. With little effort, he sweeps the princess along to the music, and grins at Duarte before a quiet word from the princess brings his attention back to his dance partner.
Norah leaps into action when she sees Jareth aflame. She was enjoying that iced tea, but it's put to better use putting him out. She catches her breath, trying to pat the flames out. "How did this happen?" she asks, halfway between bewildered and scolding.
Valencia's large dark eyes glimmer with mirth as Raja and Samira own the floor with their unabashed enthusiasm. Shaking her head with warm delight, she cannot help but applaud them both.
"To say he really lit that dance floor on fire, is in poor taste, no?" Calista winces at her own dumb joke and though she's pushed away from it, she calls out to the actor and protege. "Just stop, get thyself on the floor, and roll!"
Continuing to follow Ciro's lead, Medeia steps along to the music in fluid motions. His whispered comment brings a delighted grin to her face before she overhears something from Harlan. "Duke Harlan, you have always proven to be a fine dancer in my experience." And then... There's a man on fire and she's pushing Ciro off the dance floor, gently, and waits to see if a medic is needed - though she knows there is at least one other available.
Mabelle panics somewhat, but really she's only good for the aftercare, "He ran into a lantern. Maybe all the sparklies". She slips back and allows people to drench the man and roll him on the floor. She only ever pours water on a person if he upsets her and really he's been through enough.
Raja laughs at Samira, cheering for the younger woman. But then a flicker of fire catches her gaze. Raja's eyes go wide to see Jareth's attire catching fire! For the moment, she is stunned! Blink blink. "Ok." She looks to Samira, grinning widely, "Never seen anyone on fire at a Murder party.."
As Nina's music has caused the dance to become quite spirited out there - it must, alas, often come to an end. She finishes the leading of the drum-heavy number, and then turns to address the crowd again... taking another bow. "To all present, we are about to close out for the final bidding on our necklace auction--" She clears her throat, as it seems that someone out there is on fire. Well, that almost never happens at her concerts... but she keeps it classy. "So if you, have any last moment bids please get them in now!"
Ciro smiles when he is rewarded with that smile from Medeia, A glance given over towards Harlan as she offers those words of encouragement. "Well if she speaks of it then it must be true Duke Harlan." A broad grin offered to the man only to all to soon be replaced with a look of confusion. When he spots the reason he is being pushed off the dance floor the man failing completely so far as etiquette is concerned can't help but stiffle a laugh before pointing out. "I stand corrected, there is fire."
Gaspar has left the cozy vine-covered pergola.
"For what it's worth, my Lord," Caprice's hands lower, her grin not quite fully controlled - though there is a hint of sincere apology in it, "that really was quite -dashing-. Your shoe..? Oh dear." This is not an area where she's likely to shine, but the woman obligingly turns to inspect the floor near her own feet before scanning further out.
Caprice checks perception and investigation at normal. Caprice marginally fails.
Jareth is doused by tea.. and a few other drinks from caring people. The man beguns to chuckle.. "Well... if one must make a scene,.." The ruined tunic is quickly yanked off to try and smother the rest of the flames leaving him unabashed and topless..
Duarte simply removes his other shoe and takes up Caprice's hand. Problem solved. "This will be mercy on your feet, so perhaps a fortuitous thing." After all - it was /she/ who asked /him/ to dance.
Mabelle frowns worried as she looks at Jareth, "I suppose no good comes out of asking me to dance. I will send you a new outfit", she looks guilty as fudge.
Allegra is quite please with her decision to remain seated and not try dancing. Having a leg that does not like to dance appears to be the least of her worries. She leans back, sips her wine and raises a brow in suprise at the chaos that bears witness to the dance floor. We have slamming. We have jamming. Oh look, is that man on fire? Oh look he is. She sips again and shakes her head. "I may have actually not been the worst out there."
While Valencia is obviously turned and not seeing, her staff are there to help Jareth as discreetly as one might try to help a man once on fire now dripping tea. A little blonde barmaid offers a polite curtsy and a soft clean towel, inviting him to come aside so she might help him refresh himself before rejoining. The spilled drinks are quickly leaned and the lanterns shifted. Soon no sigh of the mishap remains, save the witnesses and the singe upon Jareth's tunic.
As Monique hears the start to bidding, she calls out from the pergola. "Three hundred thousand silver
Harlan looks over to Medeia and Ciro with a grin, still keeping a side-eyed watch on the dance-floor antics. "That is because The Lady has only known me post-lessons. The poor Duchess had to experience me at my worst in terms of dancing."
Samira laughs, sweeping a playful bow toward Valencia as she realizes the woman's applause is meant for herself and Raja. Upon straightening, she realizes Raja's focus has shifted and turns to follow her wide-eyed gaze to Jareth's predicament. Once the flames are doused, she exhales a breath of relief and turns back to Raja with a wry glance. "Can't say that I have either. I'm kinda surprised we haven't yet, to be honest, considering all the things people get up to there." She flashes a grin and then gives Raja's arm a light tug, ready to clear the dance floor.
Caprice is, it seems, easily distracted from heroic efforts at footwear retrieval by the lure of more dancing - which is probably just as well, as she'd likely return with somebody -else's- shoe in all the chaos. "I did suggest barefoot dancing," she remarks to the Count, though further commentary is waylaid as the music ends and the bidding begins. Catching sight of the Cullers quitting the field, she flashes the pair a fond grin before turning back, and rising up on her toes to catch another glimpse of the necklace up for bids.
Mabelle considers Nina's pretty pretty necklace and then considers all the things she has to do in the back of her head and then lets it go.
"Thank you!!" Nina looks out to the crowd. "The Lady Monique has bested our top bid so far at 300 thousand silver!" A pause, and Nina leans over, listening to Calista add her input. "All right, the top bid now, is 500 and one thousand silver!"
Raja turns to make a little note. She speaks quietly to Samira, "I have to tell Tanith about this.." She chuckles lowly as the bidding happens. She carefully puts it in a young lad's hand and sends him off.
Harlan looks around, "Oh Jewelry. Six Hundred thousand."
Monique squints over at Calista and Harlan, her eyes narrowing fiercely and she offers, "Six hundred and fifty thousand."
Jareth whistles listening to the bid.. lowering his hand and not getting into a bid war with money from the enobled.
Duarte's bow to Caprice is unnecessarily ostentatious for the occasion. He then claps for the bards and drifts off the...hey look! The other shoe!
Valencia offers a curtsy to Samira in return, her head bowing gracefully and her dark eyes dancing playfully. A breath comes as she her attentive staff see to keeping things running. Even one of the Hart's mercies makes a brief appearance, but seeing that the now half naked Jareth seems not in need of care at least from what has been said, she drifts back into the background again. As the bidding begins, she smiles again and nods to Dio and steps back to watch the bidders call out for a truly stunning piece of jewerly
Harlan looks Monique over and grins, "Come now. I have a wife to spoil. You can be more intimidating than that. Seven.
Briar, a quiet young woman arrives, delivering a message to Lexir before departing.
Calista gives her former dance partner a smirk and a crinkle of her nose. Another glance to Monique as well with a smile. "One Million."
Dio continues to dance with Adrienne in time with the music. At the soft words of his partner, a grave look passes over his features, but when he hears the sound of his former protege contending with the Duke of Ashford Keep, his expression lightens and his smile meets Valencia's, before allowing himself to be swept along by the dance.
Allegra discovers not to take a sip when a bid of a million is dropped, choking a bit and trying her best to elegantly disguise it.
Mabelle meets Allegra's eyes and smiles back in commiseration.
Nina sees a nod from Monique, and is about to call out a raised bid, when a few things happen at once. A slip is passed her way with a higher bid, and then she hears six-hundred called out in the back. Then Monique, not to be outdone, calls Six-fifty, and Nina takes a moment of breath. "Then now it is 650 thousand as our highest bid!" An astonishing follow up happens then, and she looks at Harlan. "700 thousand silver! My Ladies, and Lords, it is a lot of money on the line. Ah, and now the bid is for One Million in silver!"
Raja just has a boggled look on her face even thinking about a whole million silver. She blindly reaches for a drink from a passing server and just tosses it back.
A messenger arrives, delivering a message to Raja before departing.
Samira grins at Caprice as she catches the other woman's eye. Valencia's curtsy earns a wide smile before the shorter Culler turns attention to the bidding. She holds a quiet whispered exchange with Raja for a moment. As the bid of a million silver is thrown out, she raises her brows and then carefully arranges her features into a blank, unreadable expression.
Warm serenity seems to settle in Valencia's eyes as the bidding continues. Quietly she watches the faces and smiles seeming grateful that they are being so generous for the cause.
Harlan just stares at Calista, "Ouch Duchess... Now it is a pride thing. One Million, One hundred."
Ciro grins giving a quick wink to Medeia before stepping away, the man tugging free one of his flasks uncorking it to take a little sip as he weaves and wanders through the others in search of Monique. His gaze flitting between faces and gowns before finally finding the woman. Ciro's movements bringing him up alongside the woman only to have him leaning in to whisper to her.
The call of a million silver is enough to draw even Adrienne away from conversation and dance, head turning to stare at Nina whenever the dance permits.
Monique gives a shake of her crimson head, looking entirely bereft, finishing off her whiskey with a bitter sigh. She leans in to murmur something in return to Ciro, but the Minx of the Marches remains silent and sullen aside from that.
Calista glances to Harlan now and while she could definitely continue, if there is no one else who will outbid 1.1 million silver, the Duchess bows out. "You have a beautiful wife who deserves beautiful things and this is a wonderful donation, Duke Harlan."
Raja calls to Calista, smiling, "You deserve beautiful things too!"
Calista is overheard praising Raja.
Nina looks sadly at Monique, then at Calista. She knows, from running her own auctions, just how sad it is that not everyone can win, when bidding money is on the line. The worst thing is that people end up disappointed from these things! "I wish I had more necklaces to give! But alas, there is only the one. It is splendid, and I think you all so very much. Remember that this will be a donation to the cause of the Liberators, whose cause is just! The bidding now stands, at one million and 100 thousand, to Duke Harlan Ashford! Is that our final bid tonight?"
Mabelle murmurs something to a man from the librators passing by, offering him a few writs of donation for the group as the auction concludes. Clapping her hands, she applauds Harlan, "Indeed a generous donation. Duchess Ashford is very lucky".
A soft gasp comes from the crowd at so rich a bid and audible applause as Calista gracefully declines upping the bid. Breath head, Valencia waits to see if anyone else might rise to continue the bidding over the treasure.
A messenger arrives, delivering a message to Medeia before departing.
Calista is overheard praising Harlan: Wonderfully played. A spectacular bid and an exceptional cause.
Calista is overheard praising Nina: Radiant Hostess
Calista is overheard praising Dio: Dashing Host
Calista is overheard praising Valencia: The Heart of the Hart
Valencia is overheard praising Dio: Congratulations on an excellent fundraiser! A dashing and charming man made even more so thanks to his charitable nature.
Harlan laughs softly, "I think I was bamboozled." He grins at Calista, "She does indeed. Plus the next Bovine Grand Prix is coming up, and I have a LONG way to go with out-doing the outfit I got her last time." He sighs with a flare for the dramatic. He turns to Mabelle, "I have some cousins you can marry. I try to spoil everyone just a little." He turns and nods to Nina, "Guess we can meet at the bank at some point in the near future then?"
Jareth makes his way off the dance floor and bows in departure for the evening.
Jareth has left the dance floor.
Valencia is overheard praising Nina: Talented beyond measure with a golden heart that sings true. Congratulations on a successful event!
Raja is overheard praising Harlan: Congratulations on a beautiful necklace that supports such a worthy cause!
Valencia is overheard praising Jareth: Such flare and grace regardless of circumstance.
6 Ivory Shields, Oubi the Owl arrive, following Graziella.
Mabelle teases Harlan, "I'd ask Cristoph for the price for that. Might leave you very little to spoil others with", she winks to him.
Adrienne is overheard praising Dio: A fine dancer and an even finer diplomat.
Calista blows a kiss to Raja. "You honor me with such kind words. Thank you." But as for bamboozling, the Duchess laughs. "Do you dare accuse me of driving up the bidding of an auction that goes to a wonderful cause?" She pretends to be offended by but smiles quietly to herself.
Adrienne is overheard praising Nina: It is no party if I can't hear Nina Autumndale perform.
Valencia is overheard praising Harlan: Generous with a fine eye for excellent artistry. Congratulations and thank you.
Duarte is overheard praising Caprice: The very finest of dance partners!
Adrienne is overheard praising Valencia: As beautiful as the wonder she has created in the Hart.
Nina is overheard praising Dio: Thank you for being such a wonderful party host!
Nina laughs, smiling at Harlan. "Indeed. The Marquis will accept your payment, and I can give you the necklace in exchange. Now, or whenever time is most appropriate." Nina steps down from the platform. "And now! Let us drink! For the night is still young, and beautiful, and there are many out there yet to be freed by your generosity!"
Nina is overheard praising Monique: A strong contender in the bid!
Nina is overheard praising Calista: A strong contender in the bid!
6 Ivory Shields, Oubi the Owl leave, following Graziella.
Valencia is overheard praising Calista: Grace, generosity and such a good heart.
Duarte finds himself returned to his earlier seating. But he's found his pastries have been cleared away. Oh well. He'll go select some more.
Raja turns to look to Samira after the bidding is over. "Wow. The Liberators can do a lot of good things with that kind of money." She seems quite pleased with how all this turned out.
With Harlan winning the bid, Dio slows his steps and bows with deepest respect to Adrienne. His dark eyes remain on the princess for a moment, but he moves through the crowd toward the Duke of Ashford Keep. "My Lord, congratulations, and thank you very much for supporting the cause of the Liberators and of Skald." Quickly acquiring more wine, he turns to those assembled and raises his glass. "To Duke Harlan Ashford, and the Liberators!"
Dio is overheard praising Harlan: Supporting the fight for freedom with wealth and style.
Allegra raises her wine glass to the toast, softly murmuring. "To Duke Harlan Ashford and the Liberators."
Nina hands over the necklace in a ceremonial fashion, removing it from the pillow, and giving it to the Duke. A polite applause from her ungloved hands, and then she turns to address the crowd again. "Thank you all! Feel free to drink and dance until the night becomes day!" And with that she returns to the band, and begins again to start the music.
Valencia finally takes a breath as the room breaks out into final applause as the winner of the bidding war is hailed along with those fiercely competing to win the day. Even the Hart's staff are smiling to see such generosity blossom. As Dio congratulations Harlan the crowd raises their glasses in tandem with many a voice cheering and calling out for Dio, Harlan, Nina and the Liberators!
Dio is overheard praising Nina: Blessed by Jayus!
Allegra is overheard praising Harlan: For his support of Freedom.
Harlan grins at Dio, "Well it is had to not support freedom. Just lucky when I can do that AND get something nice for the Duchess all at once." He lifts his drink at the toasts and takes a drink.
Calista finds herself a glass of whatever is being passed around and lifts her glass in toast to Harlan, Nina, Dio, Valencia, and the Liberators.
Samira still seems to be trying to wrap her head around a sum as large as a million silver. She turns to Raja, nodding in emphatic agreement. "That's a huge amount of money. Seems like the event was a great success at raising funds." A toast provides the perfect opportunity for procuring more alcohol. She locates a server, quickly selecting a glass and raising it aloft.
"My gentle friends, please, if you will, a toast to the Marquis of Seraceni, to Mistress Nina Autumndale and to the Liberators," Valencia calls out and raises her glass to those present. "To light, luck and love. To freedom and peace for all!"
Ciro is overheard praising Harlan: Not sure what mistake he made, but surely with this he's forgiven.
Mabelle raises her glass of rum, "To charity and charitable people and those of us who know how to throw excellent parties! To Freedom!" She toasts, sips, and heads toward Calista
"I must take my leave, but not before stopping by the bank to offer my own donation. Duke Harlan, a pleasure as always. Please send my regards and congratulations to your Duchess." Calista turns to Mabelle now and offers her cousin a hug and kiss on the cheek. "Drinks by the pool soon. I also have a new suit I would like to wear, sooner rather than later."
A messenger arrives, delivering a message to Mirari before departing.
Dio is overheard praising Valencia: The essence of Lycene hospitality and a true light of the Compact.
Adrienne accepts a glass of water in a crystal chalice from a servant as she rejoins Allegra Pravus away from the dance floor. Her brows arch meaningfully as the bidding completes. "I'll be taking the carriage back to the estate. Will you be staying, cousin?" Adrienne turns at Valencia's call for a toast. She applauds with the glass in her hand before taking a deep drink of the water.
Mirari is glancing over a missive as she enters. She's dripping in expensive silks and jewelry; notably a pair of stygian hands at her throat, spilling a waterfall of red glass over her neck. She seems uncaring of how macabre this might look. She lets her gaze lift and flick over the gardens, briefly alighting her gaze on Duarte-- alone with his pastries. A small roll of her eyes is given and she heads in that direction.
Medeia has left the dance floor.
Medeia has joined the seaview terrace.
Monique puts Silhouette, a slender leather-wrapped steel stiletto in the secret places on Monique's body where weapons hide.
3 Fidante House Guards, Santino leave, following Calista.
Bowing to Harlan, Dio turns to make his way to the side of Allegra. He takes another long drink of wine. His eye are glassy, reflecting the fire of the garden's silvery lamps. At Adrienne's question, the marquis turns to Allegra and says, "May I ask for a dance before you depart, Your Highness?" offering her a calloused sailor's hand.
Raja has left the dance floor.
Mabelle notices Mirari upon her entry, curiously looking at the woman, but particularly finding interest in her pants. She might be staring. Its not intentional.
After all the excitement of the fire on the dance floor and the bidding, Medeia drifts back over to the terrace with her wine to sit and stargaze.
Duarte lifts a croissant picked free of chocolate as his contribution to the toast and takes a bite. He looks over and sees Mirari approaching him. He nearly chokes from surprise (or beauty?) Many people here have seen Duarte smile. He does so so easily. But very few have likely seen him smile the way he smiles for Mirari. Something truly reverent and warm. He stands to meet her arrival and bows.
There is often a sweet calm that comes after a fundraiser or event like this. Where you realize you're not quite breathing as bids or wagers are made and silver raised for good causes. But at the end of one so remarkable, it's hard not to smile and this is certainly the case for Valencia. She turns to find a drink, but does not need to go far, for there is little Lizette to the rescue, the small barmaid handing her another glass of excellent Lycene red to enjoy. A few instructions shared and Valencia is drifting again to look out over the city and down to the ships in the bay.
Knowingly, Adrienne says to Allegra, "Enjoy your dance. I will have the carriage returned for you." Her head inclines respectfully to Dio. "Please look after my cousin, Marquis, with equal care." As quietly as a woman with an entourage of six guards can, Adrienne makes her farewells to a few other friends and acquaintenances before slipping out of the terrace.
Slinking forth from a shady seatuation (and after having shared much food with the good boy Sir Flop) is Scout Rowenova who certainly looks a bit woodsy with those leaf bits and tiny twigs all stuck in the wolf furs she always wears. Within her left/gloved hand is a shiny fork which she nonchalantly spins with obviously-practiced ease.
Back to list
Calista
I was happy to have found my cousins, Narcissa and Mabelle in the company of my esteemed protege Jareth, renown thespian from the Black Rose Theater. Our gracious hosts, Marquis Dio, Mistress Nina, and Princess Valencia out did themselves with the decor.
I did not have the chance to speak with Lady Monique nor Marquis Gaspar, but they were both in attendance as well. However, the familiar face I'd not seen in what felt like centuries, is that belonging to Duke Harlan Ashford. It was so very nice to catch up. He was also so very kind as to invite me to dance, knowing my Inigo is still in Tor.
I believe we redeemed ourselves with a very proper dance where no toes suffered casualties. I cannot say the same for Master Jareth who somehow ended up knocking himself into a lantern and catching on fire. He is fine, thank the gods, but sadly will need a new shirt.
The bidding began and it quickly appeared there were three contenders, Lady Monique, Duke Harlan, and myself. The bids were climbing and the moment was getting intense. I heard a few coughs of surprise when the price escalated. Lady Monique bowed out and its was just Duke Harlan and myself. It seemed like this would be another dance. However, he said something that touched my heart.
"My wife deserves beautiful things."
I could not agree more with him. In that moment, I knew it would be an incredible gift for his Duchess and she is indeed very deserving of beautiful things.
I bowed out of the bidding but am very proud of grand donations this gives to the Liberators.
And if I could be so bold as to suggest "Calista" as a name for the child that will most likely result from this incredible gesture of love... it rolls off the tongue so beautifully.
