'I'm was reading an interesting treatise that was titled the Costs and Benefits of Acting Confident and Outgoing. By Scholar R. U. Smiley. It wasn't a terribly dull read nor even a very long one - providing me a lot of very useful information about how I could act in larger gatherings and groups without feeling as though every outing should be an experiment in social behaviors. But, it closed out on a dedication that said: 'To my pride and joy.' When I turned the page - there it was. One page on the left said JOY and the other on the right said PRIDE in very swirly calligraphy and that was it. That's how it ended.

I have no words to describe the Eclipse of Mirrors this week eloquently in the Whites, though I feel like as Second Reflection I ought offer up my own reflection on both the evenings events in particular and all of the lessons we consider, pray on, and ponder during the Holy Feast of the Thirteenth.
I must ask for time to consider before I write for the public to read.
For now I leave it with that though His presence is felt more deeply on that night than any other for most, know that Tehom is always among us. He sees the sins we try to hide. He also offers us a path to better ourselves should we deign to seek out those sins in the Reflection, to commit to rise above our darkest impulses.
He offers said path brighter during the Bloodmoon, yet always. Seekers and supplicants looking to find it should begin in the Shrine of the Thirteenth.
With open minds.

Tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow.
How many things I put off for the coming dawn. There can only be so many hours committed to a given task, if the task is to be done well. Scrub away at the floors before you start trying to tidy the cabinets, organize books, set out the winter clothes and put away the summer. Likewise stop trying to design a ball, arrange for ongoing winter studies, incidentally build a major institution, and possibly work to arrange half a dozen other events.
That's just this morning.

I am suppose to post a correction for sending toys to the Deputy Commander before he will let me see his new toy.
Does anyone else find this funny?
Now, to be more clear.
Deputy Commander Calaudrin asked me to stop sending him toys after... the second one, I think? But I did it anyway. But in my defense, he didn't tell me WHY he wanted me to stop. Just to stop. I really did think he needed toys for a while.
The rattle, in particular, was a good idea in my mind. I don't know his life!

To set the record straight, as Lady Kenna has misrepresented our exchange...
I asked her about the toys and she didn't have the kind that I needed. She started sending me some. I told her in no uncertain terms to stop, more than once. She continued to send them. My apartment isn't a toy store.
That said, no one would have known she was the lunatic if she didn't admit to it in her own journal.

I write this and am thankful to be alive. The enemy came and the Blades met it. I am not happy with my performance, though my Blades were amazing. I blame myself for the deaths on the field today and below the ground. I must do better. I have too. What good is seeing things others cannot if you are rendered unable to act? When this is over there will be far too many funerary arrangements to make. Far to many death letters to write too families.
I recognize it is war. I know there will always be losses. But there is always room to improve. I just am unsure where to turn. Looking outward for answers has given me none. But I do seem to find them when I look inwards. So perhaps that is what I must do again. When there is time. And I can hear out my right ear again. It's still ringing.

Oaths are held in great regard by commoner and noble alike.
Those who break their oaths are despised by all in the Compact.
I do not know what oaths, if any, were involved with your work for House Darkwater; whether or not a sacred vow was made you are a treacherous man who broke trust, not only the trust you had forged with the House for whom you worked but, and this is even worse, the trust your sailors had in you, when you chose to murder your own people.
You would do best to spend no small amount of time at the Shrine of Limerance. You have a great deal to learn and for which you should seek his guidance. Perhaps you will see where things went wrong. Perhaps you will become a Devotion. Certainly stranger things have happened.
Either way, were I someone who abandoned my duty and killed Darkwater sailors for disagreeing with my choice, I might avoid the Thrax Ward, and certainly Darkwater Reach. No matter how good the rum there may be.

Please do not leave vague entries in your journal. I have had several people ask me 'What did I do this time?" and while they may not entirely be in the wrong to think such things, I would rather have done something to warrant such a question.
Though I do understand your situation and as I wrote before, do not hesitate to send such things my way, I shall ensure that you will never find yourself in a situation where you find the subject lacking, again. I will sort the wheat from the chaff, or the cucumbers from the underdeveloped carrots as it were.
We shall never be quenched... by small carrots.

Eclipse of Mirrors.
That is a holiday I have not often celebrated. I am not certain if I will do so again, but I am certain that the Mirrormasks and House Velenosa put on a very good party. The Masquerade was a lot of fun and I am fairly certain it was not just because of my date.
