Rivenshari and Navegant have become close friends over the years since they bent the knee to Greenmarch, a fact that I am overjoyed about The idea that I would actually plan a gala event is still a surprise to me, but here we are: a gala held on a flotilla of Rivenshari and Navegant ships - something I believe has not been done for a party.

So, we'll see how it goes. I'm glad to have had help, as this is not in my area of strength. But, the wisdom teaches, one does not get better at things by not doing them. The Whispers had better be on guard because at this rate I'll eventually steal all their party-planning contracts.

"Steadfast as Stone" is something of a mouthful as well, my liege.

If it helps, my Rangers often shorten it to "as stone" while my sailors seem to prefer "steadfast" and as for myself, we'll I prefer to use it in writing.

I may strategize and command well, but I infinitely prefer my library to the battlefield.

I find myself, as of late, eating the same meals again and again.

We often celebrate the bounty the gods have given us, particularly those of us with the funds to enjoy whatever we like for our meals.

Yet again and again, I request the same thing from my kitchen. There must be some comfort in that, mustn't there?

I've won plenty glory. I've had a few times might call serine. I know which I'd rate higher.

Relationship Note on Marian

I had the pleasure of watching Princess Marian take part in a Rite of Gloria with Princess Coraline. They are both honourable and well-trained fighters, though Marian ultimately drew first blood. I was proud of her, as I have been, for her strength, resolve and dedication. She is one of the best fighters that I know, and I can think of no one better to have the mantle of Warchief for Redrain.

Relationship Note on Kael

The saying, "I only know one way to reward people, give them more responsibility' is something my father Prince Radley liked to say. I look forward to the stories we will tell one day about your time with this new duty Marquis Kael Keaton, Sword of Sanctum.

For discussion:

You are required to take all of the silver from a family, leaving them destitute. You may not ask for volunteers, and it must not be your own. This family must not then be given a gift to make up the loss. The silver is to be given to a merciless band of raiders who will - assuredly - pillage your whole village if you do not obey these strict commands and impoverish a family in your care.

Would you plan and implement a grievous but limited act of injustice in order to prevent someone else from carrying out a massive injustice with wider impact?

If you would, why?
If you would not, why not?

Today has been a very busy day.

I should've better anticipated the swirl of gossip.

Also I should have known that 'I don't want to talk about it' wasn't actually going to keep anyone from talking about it.

I did meet some absolutely delightful people.

On the matter of wills: Writing one down in your journals is common practice, but I find that it's just as common (especially among the wealthier commons) to challenge the interpretation of those wills in court. Anything not carefully spelled out can be challenged after your death.

If you have significant personal wealth, do yourself and your heirs a favor and consult with an attorney about the wording of your will before you commit it to the journals. You will save your loved ones a lot of grief.

I wanted to take a moment to thank all of those who have offered me their sympathies and support - as well as their criticisms - whether in public or private. There are still a few letters I need to respond to, but they have been read, and it has meant an incredible deal. I have trust that with a good faith effort, a solution will be found.

I have never spent that much time in the butterfly gardens at the Menagerie, but it is truly an extraordinary place! So much scope for the imagination that it makes me wish I were a painter--although I ought to leave that to my protege, Lady Tabitha Whitehawk, for she is one of the most talented artists I've ever met!--or a poet! It was a magical few hours with wonderful friends and I must thank my dear husband Prince Niklas for thinking of it and convincing me to take an evening stroll!

I'm very much enjoying the bottle of Black Tower Cordial I picked up at the opening of Grenaldo and Tiazza's. Messere Berto does good work, as relates to his liquors, at least. I'm not usually one for sweet drinks, but there's a crispness to this one that makes the bite entirely refreshing, and I ever have a weakness for citrus.

I couldn't possibly ask for a more capable, well grounded and talented spouse. We'll be approaching our second wedding anniversary this winter and it feels like that time went by with a snap of my fingers. I know that there were eyes turned on us when we announced a Laurent-Pravus marriage betrothal. And I can't help but feel incredibly satisfied (perhaps smug is the right word) with how everything has gone so far, she's never failed us, me or this family. I love her dearly.

It did my heart good to attend to the blessing ceremony. Mother Bianca and all of the Faith paid good tribute to the gods, and my I feel my soul girded to face what is to come. I and those I love shall face terrible dangers in the days to come. I pray to Gloria that my courage holds, to Petrichor that my blade protects the land of the Lodge well. And to all the gods, be with us as we confront this foe, and may the virtues triumph over the dark of the Abyss.

I had nearly forgotten how beautiful spider webs are, my thoughts so focused on the creature who spins such stunning artwork. You've put me of a mind to have some sort of hair jewelry fashioned after a spider web. Maybe even with diamonds. No flies, though. Thank you, my lady, for reminding me of that sometimes even those things that might frighten us have their beautiful sides.

I noticed, darling, that you seemed to gain a taste for the spicy cheese that was served at the Salon's gathering. Did it perhaps whet your appetite for the exchange of firey (though always well placed and sublime, as is your nature) words? I wonder if the refreshments served at such gatherings are always so divine. Perhaps they might lure in more of the least-likely-to-sit-still kind, such as myself. Though I shall always be glad to serve as your escort, perhaps we might also seek to lure your husband to the next one. Sprinkling sweet crumbs and drops of whiskey, as necessary!

It seems there's a great amount of woodworking to be done in the near future, but I sort of look forward to it. Hopefully my creative juices can get flowing again.

I have no doubt my family and I can accomplish anything we set our minds to.
