Relationship Note on Arik

The Iron Guard can't be everywhere no matter how many members they have, and they can't protect people from every danger either. Although it's hardly just northern associated nobles that die in alleyways. To echo someone else, those are just the ones that get noticed.

Today I saw someone I have not laid my eye upon in quite some time. It is good to know they are doing well, but there is still there is a faint ache. The only thing worse from a friendship drifting apart, is one that does so because it must.

I found out tonight that my beard is not nearly as full as others.

That's fine. Probably not the best idea that a surgeon have long facial hair.

I know few that work harder than the Keatons. I consider them to be one of my few close friends. So to be able to attend the Assembly of Peers, and see their ascension brings me great joy. It is well earned, and to see hard work rewarded is also heartening. Well done, both of you!

I went to my first beard judging today. It was all very chaotic and I am not sure what happened. But the cider was very good.

Relationship Note on Reigna

Today, the Keatons were -- after much dedication and hard work on behalf of their people -- elevated to the rank of Marquis and of Marquessa. I'm quite pleased for Oakhaven, and on a far more personal note, for them. After all, it was Reigna Keaton alone who tried to save me at Stormwall after my foolish attempt to protect our fleeing wounded and healers, who had no other guard save Dame Harrow to cover their retreat. And though she was forced to flee, she was the only one who'd tried at all. Were it not for her moment of aid to my guards, I may not have lived to pen this now. My respect for the woman is, needless to say, immense. That I do not know her better is a regret, and one that I ought to remedy soon.

I have heard that history repeats its self, I know those who were before that now walk the streets, but does that mean that history is destined to repeat its self? If it is, then perhaps we should more closely study that which we know of our history. There is so much we have yet to even scratch the surface on knowing.

Relationship Note on Paige

During the Assembly of Peers I considered bringing up the most recent death in the lowers. It is hard for me to accept that the Iron Guard needs no help when Countess Stahlben makes the third northern born or northern placed noble to die in the alleyways. Suffice to say those who seek trouble often find it and she was always one to seek trouble or make her own.

Shame.

The beard judging competition was interesting. The Redrains are an entertaining bunch, and the Keaton lady with her fake beard was as entertaining, if not more.
