The newest Sword of Farhaven and in my mind none more deserving of the title. One of the only people in the city that is my friend regardless of title nor favor. Also one of the only people I regularly spar with of my own free will.

The heart of Winter approaches and a grand Seliki tradition with it! A celebration of the year's trials and triumphs, tales, food, ales, the setting alight of a bonfire before pushing it from a cliff into the sea! All the makings of a fun endeavor! However with few such suitable cliffs in Arx, we may just have to get creative. Suggestions for what we may push burning off of what are most welcome.

By our laws and traditions the Gods were on his side, but he was wearing a full kit of some of my best work as well.

In my humble opinion, there can be very little difference between a day stolen to play in the snow and a day spent training. Oh, hmm! I guess the intent. And a lot of other aspects, too! ... This was not training.

Princess Jaenelle is quite the adept hostess, and I am delighted that I'll have a bunch of new recipes to try out in my own kitchen, to replicate or experiment with.
In addition, the company was delightful, and the food (as may be construed from the above) simply delicious. And while wearing blindfolds and feeding one's partner added... Unique challenges, especially with soup, I am pleased to call the evening a rousing success.

I do quite enjoy the horse I was gifted by Lord Gawain. He's an Oathlands Half-draft destrier, and a very beautiful animal. Unfortunately he's aware of this. Fortunately, as long as his ego is catered to, he behaves.

Relationship Note on Lyiana
Lyiana and her daughter have quickly become a very important part of my life, and I cherish the time I spend in their company. Fraiya wants to be a knight when she grows up. I've promised the girl to see her squired, and I will. She needs to come of a proper age for that first, though.
As for Lyiana, she's intoxicating and passionate and I could spend hours just listening to her talk.

I always wanted a sister growing up.

Tonight's journal feast is about what I'd expect of a group of scholars getting together. Much quietude, at least at first. I think we're all a bunch of introverts at heart. It took me quite a bit to even speak up at all, as such is not in my nature normally. I should probably work on that.
The food is delightful, however, and the conversation, what there is of it, stimulating. I hope that there will be more of these events in the future, and that we Scholars may find a way to get together and share ideas more often. Though, I suppose I am content meeting together in twos and threes in private too, however, which is far more in my comfort zone.
I'm afraid I don't have anything too controversial or important to write today. I journal nearly every day, or at least a few times a week, so that does leave journal day lacking, often, in things that I care to write about. It is nice to have a day of rest, however, and enjoy a fine feast. It has been nice to meet new people, and engage more with my fellow Scholars.

I don't know yet if you are a boy or a girl, but either way, eventually duty will rear its ugly head. You will have to do things that you find distasteful, wrong, or even shameful because of your responsibility to others. Whether it is for your family, your friends, or the people that you have been charged to rule and protect, something will be demanded of you that leaves a foul taste in your mouth, the sort that it will seem no amount of mead, wine, or rum can wash away. Maybe you will have to be polite and feign kindness to those who do not deserve your respect. Perhaps you will have to marry someone you don't get along with. You may even have to risk your life fighting for reasons you utterly disagree with. In times like these, you have to find something to hold on to, something that is important to you, something that brings you happiness, to help you keep perspective. People might say that it is irresponsible of you, but without that perspective, without a little bit of selfishness, you can easily drown in loathing. Loathing for yourself, and for those around you. I love you far too much to ever want that for you, because I know all too well what that feels like. Your mother saved me from it.

I had the pleasure of accompanying Prince Lorenzo to the wedding reception of his brother, Lord Alessandro, and Lady Margret. What an exquisite affair! The winter theme nearly made my heart ache for Farhaven, so true to a beautiful winter forest it was. Such warmth, too, not just from the braziers meant to stave off the cold, or lovely mulled wine, but from the entire Greenmarch family as well as my own dear friends and family. The newlyweds could not have looked happier or more content; I sincerely think that joy will be with them for many years yet to come. Truly, I took away so many wonderful memories, laughs, and special moments that I can hardly put them all to parchment. It was an enchanting night.
And snowballs - should you ever have a chance to see the stunning and famed Champion Bliss Whisper ice skate? Do not, by any means, miss such an opportunity.

Every now and again, one receives a pleasant surprise that is entirely unexpected. My cousin has arrived in Arx with the presumption that she is to wed someone soon so as to best create an opportunity for the house on a whole. Eligible Suitors are willing to apply, though I have told her that she may have time to settle in and find her bearings before we truly entertain such notions.
