I never accused you of accusing Lord Arik of committing a crime. It was used in an allegorical or figurative way in order to illustrate a point.
I think my point has been made, as well as several I had not intended:
*To spite your insistence that everyone speak Arvani, you yourself do not hold the best grasp of it.
Maybe it's not Skald you should be seeking out, it's Vellichor. Highly recommend, 10/10.
*You insinuate that "we" are trying to FORCE your tribe to bend the knee. Please.
All Lord Arik did was use his free will to speak his own language in a public place while you spouted off how you maintain familial ties to those deemed to be enemies of the Compact, which /is/ illegal - especially a tribe that now, thanks to you, is known for very close ties to the Rex'alfar!
I gave you a friendly reminder you that the Compact has the right to defend itself against perceived outside threats. Do you bite your thumb at Skald by being a hypocrite? Claiming at every turn your freedoms have been impugned when it was your /choice/ to come to the Compact?
*Expounding upon that: Do you not know what your oaths to Limerance, to the Compact, and to Redrain entailed or are you just perverting them to suit your own narrative?

Your people are now the people of the Compact. By joining the Compact, you abandoned the Abandoned and became a Prodigal. We do not ask that you give up your proud traditions, only that you obey a certain set of laws set forth, that you agreed to and swore and Oath to.
Lord Arik using his native tongue in the ward that he calls home in a public place is absolutely no crime, nor is it by any stretch of the imagination tyrannical. However, if you are referencing a tribe outside of the Compact that has not bent the knee and still claim familial ties with them? This is a crime. I will happily escort you to our borders so you may rejoin them.
Furthermore, if Lord Arik, Minister of Warfare and Sword of Whitehold, feels that this tribe is a threat to the safety of his home or Compact, Halfshav will have Crovane's full support in neutralizing the threat - which he is in his full right to do.

The sun is setting, providing a code on what has been one of the more intense weeks of my life. Of course, not near the most - the Nox'Alfar continue to rightfully hold that honor, and Arx is a candle to the bonfire they provide - and much of this might be forgotten in time. Yet, I cannot deny that as I prepare to sleep, I find not only my world changed, but the seeds of change I will bring to Arx have been planted.
My return to the dueling grounds, while I did not meet with victory, cannot be seen by me as anything other than success. Sir Jeffeth and I worked together to provide two shows, a simple taste of what is to come. This seems to have ignited the flaming wind which I rode until now, only finally taking a moment to take a breath and step off.
There are many things I can think of to say about this week, but perhaps most critical is that inspiration is flowing. People are being inspired to argue, to rage, to smugness, to poorly attempted clever tricks, to insults. All of this is true. It is part of what comes out of us when we allow what is most human to come out.
But people are also being inspired to art, to excellence, to laughter, to higher levels of discourse, wit, determination, love, fame, passion, romance, loyalty, brilliance, enthusiasm, curiosity.
I will always take the second list, even if it means the first must thrive as well.
I wrote many weeks ago about passion, how I believe it must be the driving force in all that we do, how without it our lives are hollow versions of themselves. We shy away from embracing them fully, we shy away from who we truly can be, we cripple ourselves.
I received a number of confused responses to this, or those tutting at me as if I were naive. Most notable was the Lady Margerie Keaton, wondering how I had not been burned.
The question baffles me. Of course I have been burned to my very core. Fire consumes its fuel. This is an inevitability. Unchecked, it wreaks horrific destruction.
But from that fire comes light, warmth, and everything else we need to sustain ourselves. I do not fear the flame. I embrace it.

I've been having this reoccurring dream, it always begins the same, I'm at home and there is a sweet smell.. something familiar, yet distant. I feel eyes on me, checking passage ways and rooms, never finding anything but every so often I see flashes of red just out of corner of my eye, like the fur of some glorious animal. I return to my room, only to be pounced upon.. and then I awake.

I normally wouldn't say a thing, except for the fact you used that word to describe my Patron and I have to ask you to apologize.
