And so it is, dear journal, that I return once more to the capital city. I have left behind my Donella and dear, sweet little Taran. They are safer in Farhaven, and having my wife to attend to affairs there gives me great solace.
After running into a few of my cousins and tying one on with some old friends, I feel less melancholy about leaving my family behind. No, I find myself instead inspired. We have one and all been dealt a great blow. Yet we stand, united in purpose, unafraid to face the future. We plan, we rebuild, we repair.
We move on.
I am moved by the spectacular courage shown by so many. I am hopeful, and I am resolved. We will never flag, never falter. We will never yield defeat.
To the last!
