What is this sudden obsession with charming Master Voss? I can’t imagine it’s a productive use of time.

I told you he'd deny I charmed him.

Pretty sure that counts as proof I did.

Your pen is a knife right through my heart.

I never claimed to have charmed you. Only that I /will/ eventually.

I will.

For any venturing to Stormwall, particularly those beginning the reconstruction - be warned that there are packs of starving dogs roaming the city. Regular dogs. Nothing demonic or tainted, save by the ferocity granted them by extreme hunger. I don't know if they were pets or if they have always run wild, but they are dangerous.

Consider yourselves forewarned.

Spread figs? That doesn't even make sense.

You use it to spread the runny cheese, then you add the figs and pour on the honey.

If you have a proper blue cheese you can pair that was honey and some walnuts.

Both go excellently with the Ostrian brandy I wisely thought to bring along.

Next time do feel free to ask for a crostini or two. I had plenty of the cured ham I was eating left over.

Our patrol was successful. We were able to rescue a disciple that was being used as a lure. My brother is making progress on restoring the residences here in Arx. I have been thinking on ways we can stimulate more economic growth. It isn't something anyone has taught me explicitly, so I find it difficult and slow going. I know our trades well enough though, and I think I can figure out the right deal to make. Meanwhile, marriage has taken a backseat. I suppose in the wake of all the mess before, no one wants to press the idea upon me. A brief reprieve for sure.

That pointy thing on your hip? It's not a decoration. If you don't know how to use it, learn. Lesson 1: It's not meant to spread figs on toast in the middle of a bleeding fight.

I have said before that the blood we spilled fighting the Gyre was bitter indeed because those we faced were clearly not fighting for something that they believed in. Rather, they were pressed into service by a tyrant who took their sacred choices from them on pain of death or the harm of their loved ones. I have met a woman from one of those families. She has lost everything, but forges onward. Her strength is an inspiration. The spark of her will, a reminder that even in darkness there is hope.

My duties have found me well distracted from my daily readings of the Whites, but one open conversational bout that took place a few weeks ago was brought to my attention.

It was in regards to the topic of education and payment for tutelage.

Many of the discipleship of Vellichor chimed in with both opinion on the topic as well as fact regarding the Academy of Vellichor's teaching program so I will refrain from repeating them as best I can. The purpose of this entry is less to debate the topic, but more to bring to light how the Scholars of Vellichor are able to provide academic enlightenment without the need to charge individuals for our services.

The truth of the matter is, our teaching program (a subset of the "Let No Question Go Unanswered" initiative) is heavily funded. With this funding, we are able to reimburse our educators with a salary for their time. In addition to this, many of our numbers participate in the program as teachers yet have refused payment for their own personal reasons, allowing us to maintain a robust staff of on-call teachers.

I am a heavy believer in transparency so I wish to speak and publicly thank those who are behind the funding needed to maintain the program.

First and foremost, the Faith of the Pantheon. To many, this would be obvious but not all so I felt it important to state clearly that the Faith of the Pantheon has always supported the Scholars of Vellichor in our endeavors as a discipleship of the Pantheon and continues to do so with the movement forward into Universal Education.

Another contributor that should be no surprise is The Crown. The leadership of the Compact saw the merit of the program immediately and without hesitation assisted in supporting it monetarily to ensure the breadth of the members of the Compact had access to at the very least a basic level of education. Without such compassion, faith and foresight from the throne, the program would not be what it is today.

Our third contributor to the program is House Thrax. House Thrax has been a stalwart supporter of the Scholars of Vellichor for years, but more recently they have granted the discipleship further funding from their personal house coffers to ensure that our capable staff is fully supported and able to continue our work unhindered by the day to day worries of providing a livable wage to our teachers that rely on their salary to monetarily survive.

Now, I wish to thank these institutions and their leadership as well as our teaching staff who diligently and tirelessly lend their time and effort to the program two-fold. First as the Archlector of Vellichor on behalf of the Scholars and the Academy. These efforts are a living representation and reverence of Vellichor bolstered in the hearts of those that have so graciously assisted. Second, as Bianca: devout of the Faith of the Pantheon and citizen of the Compact. It has been a glorious beacon of hope to watch the efforts of all mentioned and in my own darkest of moments, it has also served as a reminder that we shall persevere and that even the loftiest of ideas/projects can be made a reality through unity as a people.

Thank you.

May Vellichor continue to broaden our collective perception of our world and the glory of the Pantheon be revered through the labor of our faith.

I have been appointed Voice of Malespero, and will henceforth represent my new house with all the authority and responsibilities that position entails. I have found my Marquessa Lianne, in the short time I’ve known her, to be a woman of exceptional grace, wisdom, foresight in her dealings. So I shall presume she had a good reason to do this, even if I can't immediately divine it.

This seems as good a time as any to commit my own thoughts on matters of fidelity and oaths to the white reflections. Don’t worry, Vellichor, I have none on marriage that are worth sharing. I’m unwed, and ignorant of the pleasures and pressures of such vows.

I swore my fealty to the Malesperos mere months ago, in the House of Vows on the isle of Nilanza. The stop built to honor Limerance on the Pilgrim's Path. I'm not given to superstition, but I confess I felt the weight of the place on the words I gave there. It was an oath that gave me purpose and opportunity at a time when I lacked both, but I am still feeling out the full meaning of it. I share no ties of blood with those who’re now my family. My lord father and lady mother, and the majority of my kin worth recalling, were lost in the war against the Pirate King. My new vows were ones of service and fealty, as any loyal member of a noble house would give, but also adoption and kinship.

What do family owe to each other? Particularly those who aren't bonded by history or attachments formed in childhood. And who don't have the baggage of hundreds of little quarrels and slights that come with such, for that matter. Can, perhaps, what's forged in the bonds of loyalty and service from the likes of this be stronger for the strangeness and variety of its parts? Such is my hope, at least.

I am what I was before, for better or worse, but also what my Marquessa and sister-in-oaths, and the land and peoples of Nilanza, are reassembling me into. I know not quite what I shall see in the mirror at the end of this. But it is a future I’d not have had otherwise, and I thank Limerance for that. I shall endeavor to rise to the occasion.

Neither you nor Lady Vanora -- don't think I didn't see that -- have charmed me yet. Keep trying, though. I applaud the effort. I especially applaud it if, in your efforts to charm me, you suddenly find yourself with a permanent wont for silence, Lord Niklas.

I've given up on sellswording, but I expect I'll have some fighting to do some day. Maybe their Graces will call on me. Maybe something else will. It's been too long, I worry I'll grow rusty. It might do me good, to work off some sweat and focus on the weight of a weapon in my hands and on moving and on nothing else.

But I'll have to find another place to train. The Training Center is full of ghosts. You wouldn't think one person could leave a whole mess of ghosts behind, but they can.

I went to Stormwall with a wonderful group. Many of whom are very capable and skilled at what they do.

It would be an error were I not to mention the skill and bravery of Lord Niklas Kennex. He found a hole that we surely would've perished if we fell in. With his sharp mind we were able to get over it and find items left behind. Everyone make sure you buy Lord Niklas a drink!
