One of the best things that have happened to me is being joined by two of my greatest friends from back home. It took some convincing of their family to allow them to come but my life has been made so much brighter by their arrival. Especially now that they are both here safe and sound.
Now, to keep them out of trouble... which is going to be harder than anticipated it seems.
Strawberries are off-limits apparently.

My squire, Jonathan Fieldstone, is a very unique young man. He recently commissioned a painting from Dame Alexis that meshed my history of being a beekeeper into the composition. He then donated this to house Laurent to hang in the main hall. It has been placed in the art gallery, but for some reason, it keeps being pulled out and set in a different display.
Out of respect for this gift I am afraid I have had to take it from public display. I would not wish a careless hand to break this beautiful painting by allowing it to be constantly moved. I do hope that in time I can return it to public display knowing it will be treated with the respect that such a work of art should have.

So, along with other tasks, I have somehow volunteered myself to approach other fealties about marriage matches for myself and my sister. I guess the work of a Voice is never quite straight forward. I suppose, dear scholar, I should apologise publicly to those nobles who will have to deal with me in this - it is not always the most enjoyable conversation.

The Marquis of House Deepwood has had my respect, truly, since our first or second meeting when he was not just yet Lord Commander of the King's Own. He is, as always, generous with his words in regard to my skills for which I continue to be greatly honored as well as humbled. Trade between Ashford and Crovane has begun. The Laveer port has proved critcal to realizing this, I will have to meet and give my respects to the leadership there soon.
I have elected to sign fealty exclusivity contracts with both Crovane and Ashford. This means I will not be taking on further contracts with other Houses of Redrain or of Grayson. This will keep me from fully realizing some opportunities, but it will show that I am true to my motto. Those houses I work with will have reliable service from me.
Holding true to my model, that allows for three more clients whom I look forward to securing. The result of my work will speak for itself.

Was asked to work on a piece of art in canvas and watercolour as opposed to steel and flame. It was a refreshing change of pace. I only hope the recipient is as pleased as the comissioner.

Oh my goodness, I wake up this morning with such a headache. SUCH A HEADACHE. No, no. Uppercase letters hurt my eyes. So its:

I was out and about yesterday evening when I got delightfully caught up in a pub crawl. From what I recall, I was asked to come up with names for various drinks. For posterity, I record them here --
- A Sooty Clambake: A blend of Northern Whiskeys with cinnamon and, for some reason, a vague hint of fish
- Ashcrack: Cheap, terrible whiskey
There was a third drink -- rose water, vodka, and a taste of cherry juice -- but I seem to have, ah, forgotten what I came up with for that one. Yes. Completely forgotten. What a tragedy. So sad. So, so sad.

Lord Cullen Greenmarch, the new Sword of Greenmarch, asked to join the Gold Order of the Dragon. As he is a knight, and more-over, as he is Lady Niamh's replacement, I could scarce deny him. We are glad to once more have the Greenmarch among our ranks, and hopefully, Lady Niamh is smiling at our efforts from where the Queen of Endings has placed her.

Relationship Note on Ida
I'm beginning to suspect that Dame Ida has always been so very respectful, because she's just biding her time. Waiting for someone to seek out one of the finer pugilists to step out of the Oathlands as far back as my own memory goes. Waiting for someone who she has heaped respect, politeness, and more upon to come knocking at her door, asking to learn a thing or six from Dame Ida.
She hit me so hard at one point that I'm confident I saw some of my ancestors, that I've not already encountered. She generated new dead people for me to see, that's how hard she hit me.
I'm fairly certain that I even called her 'mother' at one point in my disorientation. She hit me again for that one. Likely because she can't be that much older than me and I suspect she found it insulting.
This wasn't even our first lesson, so I knew exactly what I was walking into. I shouldn't be surprised by any of it. Never let it be said though that Dame Ida Ferron, the Hammer of the West, isn't a delightful instructor. I told her to hit me and she hit me in the ear, I think. After my vision finished graying out, I think that's when I began hearing the high pitched whine and tasting sounds for a short time. Needless to say, every part of a round of slap-boxing with Dame Ida is a learning experience.

The Catalog, Liquors of Arx. It was a big undertaking last year, and when I took it on it was a test of my abilities as much as anything else.
Now I find myself with requests to revise the book. I honestly wish I could say I feel confident I can do even better this year, but I am forced to admit something that hinders my ability to give a full and detailed review of the liquors named.
I don't drink.
While that might make me unbiased, it means my love and passion for the area is purely academic. I hope someone else with a real interest in this area, a connoisseur, might step up to the task. I will offer my pen to help them write it, but I feel something more could be brought to a new edition by an invested party.

I've been working on becoming better at animal training this week. Hopefully it will turn out to be well worth the time invested for the Crimson Blades. At least Khan isn't eating the leather anymore.

I would like to extend my personal thanks to each of the above named in my white journals, so that when scholars decades from now look back upon those who lived in this time of strife and turmoil, they'll discover that there were many from high to low who sought to give back to the world and humanity.
Over a few hands of cards and a modest amount of silver, I was fortunate enough to humbly accept the silver of my fellow card players. They were practically throwing it at me for a couple hands and I couldn't help but accept their charity. That is precisely what those funds will be put toward: charity. Winnings earned through gambling will be turned on their head and freely given to organizations who make it their sole purpose to aid those in need.
I heartily suggest that anyone welcoming Prince Victus into a hand of cards, confiscates his weaponry prior to beginning. Trust me.
Don't forget my lords and Prince Taleyno, I have dibs on the next excursion. Debauchery in the name of charity seems like the perfected form of debauchery, so we'll do that. Further details will be forthcoming in a few weeks.
