Do we err more for what we've missed, or what we've misunderstood?

The uniqueness of this wood is something I have never encountered. The texture, the hardness of it, the weight, all of it defies expectations of other types of wood. I do know however this table crafted is among the grandest ever done by myself, and I challenge any other craftsman to match it.

I know it is an audacious challenge to convention but chain metal drapes instead of the traditional silk or other fabric. I think it would be fitting tribute to a room to celebrate Gloria

I have a new commission. It is not for my armor skills but the challenge is interesting. It is time to see if the wood will talk to me once more.

It's quite a boring evening in my house. Anisha has left to attend the Ashford Family and Friends dinner with Lady Sunaia, and I put the kids to bed early. I love that Rowan brings me a book now at bedtime - though it is a big thick tome he has pulled off one of the low shelves - and wants me to read. They were quite tuckered out from the Butterfly Garden Social! So I read to them from Rowan's choice of book which happened to be about mythical creatures in Arvum. For once it wasn't about something like taxes. Thank you, Rowan!

Whiskey. Take note, scholar, should future generations ask. The best booze is whiskey. Ideally with just a hint of fiery cinnamon to it.

She asked what was below the locked door. Demons.

I've been told there is no truth in folktales. Lies.

Searching has been fruitless. Fury.

All I hear is music.

Relationship Note on Norah

What happy news, to hear my friends of House Eswynd have welcomed a child. Who doesn't love to hear about a new baby? Love. I love this for them. The Eswynd and Marquessa Norah have my happiest congratulations and I was glad to hear in my lord Haakon's proclamation that everyone's doing well.

A lullaby for Oksana Eswynd:

Welcome to the boundless world, splendid little one
All we know made new through you, a journey just begun
Come now and dry all your tears, within you is a line
Of brave, undaunted people who will teach you how to shine

You will know both light and dark, you will know joy and pain
And through this tribulation, child, steadfast you'll remain
Nothing can take this world from you, no hurt will dim your light
The wind cares not, and nor will you, a fire burning bright

You'll be unbroken through the storms, courageous, standing tall
And all those who act against you will know what it is to fall
You're a child of the Eswynd, the rocks, the sky, the sea
And all the hearts around you can't wait to know who you will be.

Relationship Note on Savio

** THIS JOURNAL IS SO INTERESTING YOU MUST SEE IT -- CHALLENGE CHECK **

Thoughts of an ... grand opportunist... a newly made bard, and someone in possession of the next Greatest Situation Ditty from BARD Savio Pontelaeus.

IN my Hands, I have a song written from a daunting moment of critical and most spectacular willpower, Savio has belted out another soon to be hit. The last, brought attention, the one I saved from the fire.

This one, he didn't write down in those sizzling sweet moments of temptation. But I did.

Want a piece of it? Are you should you can handle Sinfully Delicious Lyrics?

I don't know. I think he needs to know he has more followers.

Praise Savio. When you have, messenger me with DONE.

In return, you get saucy ballad that shouldn't have been sung!

SOUNDS FUN?

You know what to do.

Relationship Note on Mabelle

Lady Mabelle, I'm afraid that naval warfare is not something I'd claim to have any expertise in. However, if the role of Admiral comes with an allowance paid in that new Artshall tweed and honeysilk, I'd be tempted to accept the post. The wonderful materials and fabrics you've brought to market with various, very talented craftspeople, are all wonderful. You should be commended for your efforts and if it's not already, your name really ought to be synonymous with Oathlands fashion.

In a world full of chaos and strife, it is a relief to know that one thing hasn't changed: Dogs are still our best friend.

They may eat your shoes and howl at odd hours of the night, but still. Best friend. It's something in the eyes.

Love, as with every relationship personal or business, is not without condition.

The notion of unconditional love is steeped in wishful thinking. Could you love your child if they became a heretic, and murdered scores? Could you love a partner who violated your trust continuously? Is 'love' even still a notion when it becomes a one-sided thing, or does it simply become unrequited pining for something that could be, once was, or never came to be?

There's always a condition.

If you don't see that threshold due to blind faith and optimism in the power of you bonds, you risk running up to the line that should not be crossed, not seeing it for what it is, and hurtling right past.

Unconditional love is reserved for storybooks and the exceptionally naïve.

Two down, one to go. The last week or so has been far more productive than I figured I might manage. The third, and final, weapon on the agenda is still barely out of the sketching phase, but it's not something I think I really need to rush, at least. I should restock the shop as well, at some point. I'm trying to do more swords and bows, just in case people need those sorts of things on the fly, as they say.

Sir Brannen Harthall sent the most thoughtful gift the other day. A holder for our drinking horn. This will need to have a special location to have it on display.

I have been reminded of how much I adore dancing. Both as participant and as enchanted observer.

Whether it is watching an artist alone or as part of a talented group or duo, or even simply watching a couple shining together upon the dance floor. Not for show, but the joy of it. How can you not adore the beauty of such a thing?

So much can be learned about person when they dance. I often think that to watch someone dance is to hear their heart speak.

To which I wholeheartedly say, dance on.
