When you helped fight a thing and you know you helped fight a thing, but...you cant recall ALL the details of said thing. By the way, said thing was an evil tree.

Inspiration and creativity are curious things. Things, I think, I have struggled with a lot over the past several months. Maybe it's that other focuses have just left me without an idle mind to come up with ideas, and maybe I shouldn't worry about it like I do. Lord Rysen Crovane sent his assistant over with a sword beautifully inspired by storms. It took me a moment to realize it was my own work, as it seemed too handsome to have been something I managed to craft. It made me wonder where that woman who made that blade has gone recently.

I'd blame age, but just brushing up against forty is hardly /old/, no matter that half the Compact acts like it is positively ancient. That's another story, though. In any case, it's a lot of why I haven't been taking commissions much lately, as I don't like to half-ass someone's personal weapon that they might end up trusting their life to. I'm not, in any way, lamenting my other projects - they have brought me a joy that is hard to describe. Hopefully I'm not just losing my touch.

Messere Carmen's latest entry in the Whites has me unsettled - I am very glad now that I do not wear steelsilk. Every time I touched or looked at it, that question would rise unbidden in my mind.

Getting possessed by a demon tree and being forced to sacrifice your blood to it via slicing open your own forearm as you struggle in vain to prevent it is not as fun as it sounds.

What's that, Scholar?

That doesn't sound fun /at all?/

How astute.

I've had something horrifying occur to me. It may be from whatever was in that Hot Blush, or maybe because I'm trying to dry out, but -

Silk comes from the coccoons of a worm that eats mulberry leaves or something.

Where does STEELSILK come from?

With each new piece of knowledge, I grow hungrier for it still, even knowing full well that the end result is often unpalatable.

I'm full to bursting, at present.

Were I vessel, I'm sure it would be all but leaking from my ears.

The anniversary of my birth fast approaches. I'd like to throw a party. Perhaps it is gauche to organize my own birthday party, but I see it as an opportunity to provide a fine night for my family, friends, associates and acquaintances... a gift from myself to others and not the reverse. I must decide upon which venue to stage such a party within, for that is the second most important decision, after whether or not to throw a party at all.

I've had the pleasure of moving into a home of very eligible young bachelorettes. A rather intimidating, but wonderful, cast of princesses, Whispers and also Sydney. What a powerful and dangerous group, we make! The city may not be ready for our like!

We're beautiful, we're young, we're brilliant, and we're single! Ish.

I really can't overstate my delight at this cast of characters Anisha has recruited into our feminine conspiracy. The best part of it isn't being surrounded by pretty and devilishly capable people. Though that is lovely, in itself. It's the fact that every one of us at least has the hobby of collecting information. So many keen minds for me to pick at my leisure!

Surely, somewhere along the way, my obsessions have pleased Vellichor. And he has seen fit to place me in the most heavenly spot on Arvum. And possibly the safest, judging by some of our housemates.

Take that, Father. The city may eat me alive, but I'll be very happy, very well-protected and well-informed while it does!

All of that aside, they're also people I am quickly coming to adore, each and every one. And perhaps best of all, they care for me in turn.
I've never had the opportunity to have my company feel so desired, and to feel so included.
I think I want to cry, just thinking of beautiful that is.
Lone Lenne is dead. Let us never speak of her again.

Relationship Note on Ida

Some time ago, the Minister of Medicine for my House and Guildmaster Reigna Keaton of the Physicians Guild held an event to raise money and donations for the people of the Lowers so that they might have warm clothing, blankets and other necessities for the winter. At this event, by some miracle of Lagoma, I won a contest of medical skill, for which I was given a hideous second place badge, no doubt crafted by Rukhnis herself with that sad and decrepit excuse for skill and beauty, called by some "love and care."

Thankfully, I was also given a second and far more valuable prize by Guildmaster Reigna: an imperial oathlands longblade, such as the instructor of my youth, Sir Roland, used to carry. So beautiful and well-crafted was the blade, that I asked the Guildmaster who made it, to which she replied the renown weaponsmith Dame Ida Ferron, the Hammer of the West.

I recently contacted Dame Ida to see if I might commission a second sword of similar length and weight, but in the style of the Northlands to compliment the blade given to me by Guildmaster Reigna. The weapon I received from Dame Ida is a true masterpiece - beyond even my wildest expectations. It captures the essence of the Northlands and the very storms after which my homeland is named. It is inspiring to hold in each hand weapons so perfectly representing my heritage, and an honor to carry the manifestations of Dame Ida's skill and creativity.

I have returned to Arx after my regretfully unannounced absence. It is good to know that none of my house fell gravely ill or were injured in my absence. I do not know if I could have forgiven myself.

Now is the time to ascertain if I have caused other, more invisible harms - and if so, set things aright.

I had the opportunity to speak with Lady Mikani yesterday and I am seriously considering taking oaths to the Crovane family. I have my concerns but I care about the family enough to take the risk but I do want to make certain I do the right thing here and not just try to make someone happy.

At times, the enemy is visible and fearful but sometimes the enemy is ourselves. Fear or selfishness can cause more problems than an army in the right situations. I must be mindful to keep myself in check and aware of my weaknesses.

I feel renewed.

We hope, and fear, and prepare for the future because of the effects that both have within us.

We rectify what we can and rejoice in what we should, making every effort to make things better for ourselves and for others.

And in all, the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.

I am thankful for these things that have been given me.

I met a giant of a person. Who is quiet the opposite of me! Or maybe vice versa! I dont know..We all bleed the same right? Anyway, we are more alike it seems than expected! I am forever grateful because it means I'm not alone with in thoughts that I felt were just my own! And it's great! Just one more person to squeeze on boat! I'm so glad to be meeting all these people. How lucky I am!

I am so happy to announce that I have TWO wonderful new proteges! Marquessa Iliana Leary, who has one of the sharpest minds I've ever known and combines this with a most wonderful sense of humor, and Mistress Wren who most of you likely know from the market where she keeps a stall packed with the most wonderful of things! I highly recommend the lace that she puts up on offer, it is exquisitely worked and so soft to the touch that I'm having an entire dress made out of it for the summer heat! Perhaps I'll even have a delicate latticework tiara made to accompany it. When was the last time lace veils were fashionable? I think it's about time they made a comeback! But do see her for anything you might need as she finds the best quality products and offers them for quite the discount!

I am very honored that they have both accepted my patronage and will do my best to ensure that everyone is always talking favorably about them!
