I haven't felt much like getting out, lately. Autumn's here, that's why. It was good to see the finale ball for the Taste of Arx celebration, though.
It doesn't hurt that the company was good. Some people have a way of breathing life into a hundred different topics over the course of an evening.
I'm envious. It's not a skill I ever mastered.

You were to marry Mikani, and then you tried to fuck a disagreeable bear.
I suppose I'll pray to the gods, and thank for the last minute save.

The newest member of our family shows great promise. I look forward to seeing what she does with her time in the city.

Ran into Ronan. Haven't seen him in ages. We have to catch up.

The world moves.
We move or we fall behind.
Might be folk can have some hand in guiding its flow.
But folk stand against it and try to force it stop, there's a fair chance they'll find its whole weight fall on them.

I have joined the Tournament of Roses. Fidante would be remiss if one of our own did not participate, after all.
Do I expect to win? No. Is there a chance? Maybe. There is, after all, never a certainty for, or against, when it comes to even mock battles.
But even if I lose, it'll have been with style.

Inspiration is a fickle thing -- but of late, it has taken a hold of my heart and my quill, and in a very short amount of time, I've written a play that I will be soon staging. It is not a happy tale; I shall leave those to Prince Niklas to tell. But I hope it has some beauty and some truth to it, and I cannot wait to see the talents of our city to bring it to life.
Thank you to the Nightingale Gianna Whisper for her support.

The city of Arx is a strange thing, so many people from all over, all making their homes in one central place. It is the Crownlands and yet it is none. A perfect melting pot of everywhere all at once. It's as though the entire city was all one busy port town, with people passing through from all over the world, but they all live here, and now I do too. I think I'll get used to it, though it is a strange thing to have a bed that I can settle into every night. I owe the Duchess a debt that I don't know I'll ever fully repay, but I will spend the rest of my life doing my best.

Your unexpected and brutal passing came as a surprise. Well...maybe not entirely! After that last encounter we had, in which you unashamedly dared called me a spoiled brat for not corresponding to your blunt approach and "generous" marriage offer...I'm frankly glad death found you. I suppose there's no need for you to explain to the Bisland Duke, and his voice, why you would have made a better match for me than a member of the Lycene House of War. Good riddance! May that bear rest in peace.

Thanks to House Malespero, I have discovered that my favorite parties take place in basements - with an octopus, cookies, wine, and a musician. Gracious hosts and very interesting people, I couldn't have had a better return celebration.

In these times of strife - and, frankly, these times when displays of abject rash stupidity are so frequent - it was a pleasure to spend an evening with the fine nobles of House Inverno. Count Donato is a man of good humor and temperament who seems to be steering his holding well, and the marriage of Lady Aisha to Lord Nikias seems a smart and fitting match for both. I shall say a prayer to Limerance for House Inverno's continued prosperity and aid in insofar as I can.

Such a wonderful event! Full of great and notable people. I was lucky enough to attend with my dearest cousin --who later on, as usual, ditched me to go dance with the princesses.
Classic Michael Bisland move, I'm used to it.
Nonetheless, he did win _THE LOOK_ (customary of the woman in my family) when he went off commenting near the Malvici's of that, oh so embarrassing, time of our childhood involving a most unfortunate disaster with a fall and some horse manure.
Oh how I sometimes wish we were not related.

This week I was lucky enough to gain some new knowledge in archery!
Soon my dreams of having my skills be worthy enough to match an alaricite bow will come true!
Alright...so maybe not /soon enough/ but still, it's a step closer to it!
Master Kanean's recent teachings, along with cousin Aiden's former instructions are surely to make a difference during my upcoming training. I'm sure of it.
Hopefully nobody else will have to dodge my loose arrows like a god (like poor Orathy had to do) anytime soon!

Lady Thea Malvici is an excellent friend and a most amazing partner to have during a competition, should one hope to come out a winner --unless Reese Grayson is there, then there's obviously no chance!
Well done Thea!
I'm so glad to have met you!
Malvici is lucky to have you.

I tried my hand at a shortbow today. Something new, as I've never held one before. Perhaps I could try train with this to. After all, it doesn't hurt to learn to know about as many weapons as one can, does it?

I was social this week, can you believe it? I attended two of the Tastes of Arx events; Redrain's (of course), and Valardin's. I wish I could have attended them all. I also was able to spend some time catching up with good friends and getting long overdue hugs. It was good, despite all of the bad in the world, to see the warm smiles of those I care about.

This week was rather full. Excellent company, happy smiles and an abundance welcome things -- my Hart full of laughter and beautiful and kind friends, a fantastic party hosted as well as several gatherings, and a very kind and well-welcome donation of books to the Hart's free library thanks to the very gracious Scholar Oswyn Spencer.
It has not been an easy time of late. So often dark things can make one's heart ache. However, weeks like this remind me of the good in others.
For that I'm grateful.

Plans are laid out now - a first step to be taking forward, and it is good to see that there is not only commonality of purpose, but diversity in skill. I am looking forward to seeing what we can do, and to begin to push forward rather than simply sitting idle. I don't think there is anything I can tolerate less than feeling like I am held in place, by whatever force it may be.
