Got me a copy of Mistress Perronne's Merchant Almanac.
Don't reckon I've had many books that weren't just for fun reading, but as I don't travel much myself, this may well help with expanding the business.

On the plus side however - all the folks talking means that I do get to hear a lot. Sliks do love to talk - and they end up talking about absolutely anyone and anything. It's like they can't help themselves when they're trying to do anything. They just talk, and talk, and talk.

I am just writing to see how you are. I have no grand stories for you. Since I keep to a small area.
No, wait, I do have one. Princess Coraline, she is quite grand, had me attend a display with her. It was a man who was selling cures and what have you. Many doubted his skills but I didn't. I am sure he really just wanted to help people. The show he put on was quite a wonder, tough. I can't recall his name.
Anyways, I shall have to write you again another day. I have some work to finish off.

I don't mind it when folks come into the shop, but I'll tell you that I do absolutely hate it when folks come into the shop to talk or natter rather than actually buy something. I hate talking as a general rule, and all the senseless nattering just makes me want to put a rusty nail up my nose.

I decided to write to you this time. Someone who's journals I read wrote about siblings. So, because this person wrote of siblings I thought I would put in on this subject that has apparently been going around.
I ave no siblings. Until my adoptive grandparents took me in I had no family. Which, I suppose, is not uncommon for a thrall? I don't know, honestly. I did not spend much time around people when I was younger. I preferred, and still do, to just keep with a small circle of friends or doing sewing. I don't really know what family is, truth be told. I bear the name Coldrain but I don't know that it is really a thing for me. Except my adoptive grandparents I don't really know any of them.
Perhaps if I have a child I will understand what family is. I am not sure, though. I will probably just continue to wonder what family is. I don't really think any will wish someone who more often than not flees from people as a potential wife.

I would like to thank everyone that sent me a gift on Grayson Gift Day! I was overwhelmed with everyone's kindness and well wishes! It has certain been an incredibly busy week, ending in a wonderful Grayson Family dinner where there were new and familiar faces and I just was delighted by everyone and everything said. It really just is such a great feeling to have friends and family all on one place for no other reason than to share each other's company!
And I got to meet the newest addition to the family who is just darling! And makes me more excited to meet our little one and I was already pretty impatient to begin with!
I have such high hopes for the future, even with everything I hear that is happening. There are so many amazing people in this city, I just know everything will turn out well in the end.

I've been working on some maps to help explain the areas around Arx to our patrolmen who arn't native to the area. It has been enlightening to really get a feel for how people describe the area nearby in different ways.

I will always feel honored and humbled in regard to kind words about my work. That said, House Keaton have been exceptionally generous in their patronage, generosity, and overall kindness to me over the years. It is not often someone mentions a creature, real or imagined, that I can not get out of my head. I knew I had to make Hawkbear and that only one person should get to claim the piece as their own. Truly, Lady Amari created it and I just bent it to metal.

I have to remember to buy some arugula leaves. I'm not sure they'll really help spur Clopsy to greater feats of speed and agility, or even motivate her slightly, but there's no harm in trying.
It's not as if she could have gone any slower during the ring joust, unless the arugula leaves cause her to fall asleep.
Anyway. I always spectate at those sorts of things, but not having to fear being lanced from horseback, it was entertaining to try for a change, rather than just watch. Apologies to everyone that had the misfortune of seeing that poor performance and those jousters who had to wait for me to make it through the course at the speed of a drowsy snail.
Thanks to my fellow competitors for the kind words and advice after, and thank you, Duke Cristoph for indulging me.

I don't wish to embarrass Dame Ida terribly by piling on the compliments, but I have to make a record of my gratitude to her. Hawkbear is a thing of true beauty and savagery! I may not yet have a collection of Ferron weaponry as vast as Prince Luca's, but perhaps one day. I've never been anything but amazed by her imagination and workmanship. My wondrous hawk bow, and its matching hairpins and now this wonderful cutlass, all are gorgeous and masterfully crafted.

I must confess that before every fundraiser we host at the Hart I worry about a million things.
I worry that all feel welcome and cared for. That a good time is had by all. That we will not run out of whiskey, rum and wine. And, I worry our fundraising goals may not be met.
Everything we raise is so essential to the good causes we hope to support.
Fortunately, the people of Arx are generous and understand why their donations are so important. I know that tonight's fundraiser will be no different and they will come together to help with the cause.
But even so, I often hold my breath until I see their smiles and suddenly know it will be just fine.

My sense of fashion has been called into question. Apparently I need to updo my hair, find some fancy threads and train my Fancy Lad side up. I'm a sailor! I know not the first thing about fashion.
With that being said, it did give me a solid kick in the ass to commission new armor. There I do know where to start, with the best as it has been told to me. Fare thee well Silver! You were a fine companion while you were here, I will forever remember your weighty jangle as you rode at my hip.

Today there was an activity in House Thrax, which I attended. House Thrax... While I know they have been warlike, I am pretty thankful that despite all things, they are one of our great Houses. I guess its because they are willing to act against the enemies of the compact, and spend lest time in talking and diplomacy. I'm not saying those talents: talking and diplomacy are not important. But when the diplomacy and talk fails, I'm glad House Thrax is ready to crack skulls. And with their Highlord Victus Thrax, I'm certain only greatness awaits them.
