Why choose just one? Have both with the same person

To the extent your inquiry suggests mutual exclusivity, I object.

Relationship Note on Ilira

Have I ever kept warmth from you? I cannot tell, but I am reminded of how members of a clowder oft pile atop one another in cold months upon soft blankets.

Perhaps you ought to ask the Princess Alarissa for one of her many illegitimate feline heirs. I am sure she is willing to part with a few. They provide excellent exercise if you choose to chase them; however, watch out for furniture.

An unusual number of people seem to be going around the city complimenting me. I'm not sure what the root cause of all this is, but thank you. I think.

I wonder. What would be more amusing -

A torrid love affair or an intriguing rivalry?

With similar poeticism and detail, I agree. Rain or summer or rain in summer are oft praised as the most intimate weather, but nothing brings people close like the need for warmth. And in the same vein, nothing cuts like a lack of it on the coldest nights.

I’ve awoken to a missive most appreciated. The man penned that he’d taken our enemies head on. Put them to the blade and let their treasures spill freely.

Ah. It’s always a good morning when it begins with such fine news.

It has been years since last I saw the sea serpent banner of Thrax and knew the vessel to be my enemy.

This time the flag were false, and the folk flying it were no true Serpents, but a body can't help thinking back to a prior age. Time is a curious thing.

Relationship Note on Lenard

Dear cousin! You make the City a little bit less of a chore to endure. You might even beat me one of these days when we spar. It won't be very soon of course, but eventually, I know you will get there.

Also, please continue to introduce me as the Barbarian of Valardin. I want that to be a thing.

I love the winter.

The cold is beautiful. It is clean; it is uncompromising. The winter chill does not discriminate between old and young, men or women, or any in between. It comes swiftly to kill the unprepared; it comes hard to test the strong. There is no feeling like standing naked in a blizzard, with its cutting winds carving patterns in your flesh, only to be ushered into a cozy cottage to have a lover's mouth on yours, her chest warming yours, her heart beating in time.

It is life and death in perfect balance, sharpened, and on the point of an arrow.

I often come to the Thirteenth's shrine when I want true peace.

The renewing ablution of the mind is found in the brutally honest daily inventory one takes of themselves and in faithful obedience to the mandate of reflection. Where have I erred? What do I fear to admit? What strongholds of mismanaged passions are in my life?

And finally, what do I choose to do about it? Even inaction is action; even silence is speech.

The same dream again. Standing on the deck of a ship that keeps changing its size, the heat of battle is there in front of me. Always attacking with breakfast just barely done. So many bones collected. The others will stare, they always stare...

Why always a sheep?

Relationship Note on Zakhar

Went reaving with Eswynd. Lovely, top marks, would reave again. Did you know Zakhar fought the enemy with a cast-iron frying pan? Of course we have to have a song about it.

He's cooking his breakfast up on that deck
He got that cast iron out when the day began
You mess with the sausages and you risk your neck
You better not fuck with the man with the pan

You pull your ship up there all quick and direct
Drawing those swords like you think you can
But here's a weapon that you didn't expect
You better not fuck with the man with the pan

He's swinging that thing and he's making you pay
There's no escape now even if you ran
You got no defense against the cookware melee
You better not fuck with the man with the pan

Now you're knocked in the head and over the rail
And here you believed you had such a good plan
Should have thought twice before you set sail
And you better not fuck with the man with the pan!

Sage advice, friends.

The air is no longer like hot soup, and drawing a deep breath doesn't risk drowning.

A bit of snow and a fair wind and it would feel nearly like home.

it was embarrassing to be taken so surprise by the snowstorm, though truly I had not anticipated its ferocity. I need to design some attire better suited for Arx's winter. I was lucky to encounter my Lord Liam, and truly our brief discussion was more than intriguing - courtly and kind, he is an interesting person.

Relationship Note on Mikani

Thoughts of an ...athletic small blades... student...

Mikani is absolutely one of my favourite teachers, in fact, sorry Teague, probably my favourite. She always pushes me when I'm at my absolute worst. Ever try running balance beams when you're not completely ... sober? I don't recommend it, as it winds up with there being grass stains on your face, when you face plant.

But this time, she had me reflect on the deeper parts of myself, the places that I may not fully accept as part of me. Which, as I think about it, makes sense. If we are distracted by our flaws, we will always fumble and fall. We must not make them any more in our mind than our successes. There needs to be a balance, an acceptance, and at the end of the day, awareness of all of what you were, who you are, and who you want to be.

I highly recommend Mikani as a teacher to anyone.

All this complaining about the snow. Let me tell you what I see with the fresh snow. I see something new, something pure. It's something untouched. It's BEAUTIFUL! Also...I'm not melting.
