Mabelle
The Lady Mabelle has offered to introduce me to a horse of miniature that she has as just one of the many creatures of her menagerie. Mother was wrong: I can find friends and they do not run at the sight of me.

Mother,
You would be proud. I fought back. I lured my captor into a false sense of security by feigning a fright so great I fainted dead away. My compatriots were well and able to take the situation in hand, no doubt due to the quick thinking of a distraction on my part.

The truth of the matter is that you can only lose what you cling to. There will always be an irrevocable distance between the goodbye and the letting go, but there will inevitably come a moment when you realize that the old you is just a shadow of the reality of what you have become and you embrace that which is with your whole heart; when you let the winds of change blow through your body like a northern gale and you allow them to scour away what was; when you embrace your farewells and let the fire burning inside take you where it wants to go.
When you become the fire and leave ashes in your wake.

I thought I’d lost the cat for good. It had been gone nearly four days. Perhaps it had ventured to the grey forest to be with its fellow savage beasts. Or finally had gotten so sick of Scarf it couldn’t bear to be here a moment more.
No. None of that. It was just accumulating its trophies of mice and birds in a hole it’d dug under a shrubbery in the courtyard.
At least they’re not in the house like usual. Astrid may stop worrying for her feline friend for awhile more.

My friends gave me occasion to smile today. It felt good, and I am in their debt. I know enough not to take these things for granted.

I tried to get out about the city a bit, even though I still find summer in Arx a bit too warm for my tastes. When I heard that whiskeys from the Sanna estate would be paired with some sparring? Well, hard thing to resist. As tends to be the case, I wasn't able to stay long, but I did witness a bout between Raven, The Blackheart, and Sir Amund. And what a spar that was! Almost makes me wish I could wield a sword. The whiskey was exceptional and I was graciously offered an invitation to the next family dinner. I may have hinted about politely crashing it before that, I admit.

I attended the celebratory event for Lord Ciro Seraceni, though I don't really know him properly just yet. We exchanged a couple of messengers about endeavors he hopes to work on, so I thought to catch up with him at an event held in his name. Brilliant deduction on my part, that. Kidding aside, I'm glad I went even though I did not get the chance to speak with the guest of honor.
Instead, I lucked into spending time with some of my most favorite people in the city! As well as made a new acquaintance, and have plans to catch up with at least a couple of them soon over tea. While duties kept me from staying as long as I might have liked, and I shied away from dancing, it was an absolutely wonderful time.

Ezmeralda
When Marquessa Ezmeralda Leporidae, Lady of Tremorus, speaks she calls to mind a world that should only exist in storybooks - sensational, alien, dangerous, and beautiful. In better days perhaps I will see Tremorus for myself. Until then, I know only that I am grateful that the Marquessa has chosen to a be a friend rather than enemy. I do not envy those for whom she is the latter.

Dio
When House Seraceni sails against the Skal'dajan fleet, it will be with the same skill, intellect, and judiciousness that we have come to expect from its Marquis. His work on behalf of House Pravus, the Liberators of Skald, and the Compact at large is an example for us all.

Relationship Note on
Dio
In recent weeks, I have found the most unexpected - but pleasant and fruitful - friendship in Marquis Dio Seraceni. Several nights back, he was good enough to let me take up a space in his home to commence work immediately after an evening meeting. There was so much to do that I found myself finally retreating from his hospitality come morning, having borrowed several of his staff as my own to deliver messages and even hosting a few emergency meetings as if the home were mine to command for such things. Never once did the marquis make me feel as if I had overstayed or overstepped. In all our dealings, he has been a gentleman and seen to my protection. (I think he actually growled at a man on my behalf, once.) I am grateful the Compact has him dedicated to its protection.

I just saw her in passing, but she's so cute! I kind of wish I could have seen her fight. And she has freckles! I've heard that each freckle is a little kiss from the heavens to let someone know that they are special. So people with many freckles - just imagine how special you are, kissed by the stars of so many!

Put more yummy figs into people's mouths, and less pretty words in people's ears and they will open to receptiveness.
Also, no dancing for the next several days, or I will have Lady Eirene visit you. You don't want Lady Eirene to visit you.

Cirroch
A gentle man that had to be made so big to contain the big heart he has. Filled with smiles, and encouragement, even if he is a man made for death on the battlefield, he is a man made for love off of it - of himself, of others, he has a way of bringing out the positivity of those around him.
I wonder if he's ticklish..the bigger they are..

Life changes. Some things end, others begin.
I look forward to the future. I do not have any plans but something exciting always comes up!
Time to go talk with my neighbor about gardening. Apparently he likes it and I have learned a lot about how to grow herbs.

Dear Scholar.
I am writing to put these names into the tomes as people that were amazing and showed up to the impromptu sparring party that Princess Valencia was kind enough to allow me, Marquis Cirroch Sanna, of Giant's Reach March to hold in the Golden Hart's Arena.
It was simply something to help our neighbors to blow off some steam and enjoy whiskey. I met many new and old friends.
The Blackheart Raven, Baroness Calla Vaevici, Lord Kastelon Keaton, Lord Ciro Seraceni, Lord Griffin Redreef, Lady Neve Greenmarch - the defender of cakes, Lady Isabetta Gilden, Princess Gwenna Redrain, Sir Amund, Rhue Wainryte, Sir Ari Corsetina,
Dame Irisa Wainryte, and while it was a brief meeting, Giorgio Pontelaeus.
The spars were a great bit of friendly competition and a welcomed distraction.

It's rather eye-opening to return to the records of one's journals every now and then. Moments of time captured by ink upon page lend insight into the mood and truths of the writer's past in the most profound of ways.
My goodness, I was pretty exuberant! Not a bad thing at all (some might say that's arguable) but I have definitely changed since the time when those journal entries were scribed into memory. For one thing, I'm no longer in any great hurry to pursue a political match within the contracts of marriage. Such a thing will arrive when it arrives, but there's no point in rushing it
Either way, I will have plenty of tasks to occupy my days, and many projects to consider in order to enrich the fortunes of my house! I've the duties of my faith to consider, of course. So too will there be much study and research on the horizon, I should think.
So much study, actually. Gosh. I should get to it right away, Scholar!
