Winter reminds me of the north, where the snow loved the mountains and forests so much that it would kiss them gently and wrap them safe and warm beneath an imperfect quilt of white. Home -- a magical snow-globe world that I have missed to the core of my being. I am glad that winter has come now to Arx.

Sometimes an answer you've been seeking for years is sitting on the couch in front of the hearth at the bar just across the way from your home.
Sometimes.

I know he's out there reading - and I guess this is my fondest of goodbyes. I will always hold a candle for you, even until it burns my hand. And when the light has long since gone... I will be there in the darkness holding what remains, quite simply because I cannot let go.
Know that I didn’t love you to seek revenge. I didn’t love you out of loneliness or unhappiness. I didn’t love you for any of the misguided reasons that time might convince you I did. I just loved you because you’re you.
I suppose this really is the end of our story together.
Almost.

I have been so absorbed in preparations for the Honey Festival that I seem to have neglected any other project I had on my plate. With that behind us and the lounge in place, I find it difficult to return to my old projects.
I need something new.

Be subtle, to the point of formlessness.
Be mysterious, to the point of soundlessness.
This way neither spies nor the wise can plan against you.

Where field meets forest
the shadows overlapped
but for you they parted.
I was safe there.

Winter always makes my heart sink a little. I miss the sun and being able to take the dogs and Beau out for longer trips. Now Beau is looking at me in disdain as I dared to ask him to walk on this powdery white death. Cats are finicky creatures, but beloved by many. Cale and Atramentous have been teaching Calluna and Winter how to run at top speed in the snow, which has made for some amusing mishaps, but no one was hurt.

Thank you so much for the gift. You are perhaps the first to give one to me. It was a wonderful choice.

Winter - and the smell of fresh coffee, surely - tends to bring more people into the shop than any other season. While I am a bit behind on commissions already, the chance to meet two distinctly different people both with equally distinctive weapon ideas, warmed my whole afternoon. Thankfully both seem willing to be patient and I am genuinely looking forward to working on their unique ideas.

I have a professional inclination to ask about your wheezing chicken. This 'rubber' your alchemists have curated and learned to shape could have uses beyond pure amusement.
I hope this isn't too forward of me considering we have never met in person. As Guildmaster of the Apothecary College I like follow the Whites in search of alchemical achievements to honor at the college. It is my hope that your wheezing chicken could join us for a few classes, perhaps your alchemists too.

A simple thank you would have been nice, but I shall pray to Jayus and ask Him for guidance. More people want commissions from me, so that is a tell-tale sign that some people were just not bred well - and that my talent is just fine.

For a hilarious lark, a couple assistants in the Defense Lab put together this chickenesque doll of natural rubber as its primary basis plus extra alchemy. This 'rubber chicken' lets out a high-pitched squeak/wheeze whenever it is manually squeezed! I love this thing so much. It is so hilarious!

A garden of splendor, she as its tender,
Thrives in all seasons, spiting wind and frost.
Adversity her affinity, made to render,
Their whims her shields, never a petal lost.

Do all extraordinarily tall men have deep voices? It must be so, for if they had a gentle or soft voice, they would seem misshapen. Perhaps it is a mercy that in stories, we all have the voice that sounds best in the mind.

I used to pride myself on being a machine (without need for break or nap), but now that I cat nap here and there throughout the day, I actually feel /significantly more/ 'work productive' than before. Who would have thought?!
