Relationship Note on Kaia

Many congratulations to my cousin on her wedding! No congratulations on being attacked during it. Do you have to upstage everyone's wedding by having an attack during your own? Goodness me.

I'm happy you're not seriously hurt though. Get well soon, cousin!

I attended the wedding of Lord Martino and Lady Kaia and I must say that I was not expecting what unraveled. I am glad at the end of all of the chaos that the Lady is healing well and that they are now joined in wedded bliss.

I just hope the attacks in shrines will stop being a thing. We were glad to have spotted the crossbow men early, but it could have been much worse. Also, I do not suggest numbing agents be taken lightly. I hate the feeling of not having coordination of my own body.

The words I whispered at the Shrine, well while true eventually, were not quite for the same reasons.

Still. One is blessed and thankful that Limerance seemed to bless you to remain with us.

Sometimes enemies you didn't know you made by trying to form a peace come back to get revenge.

That happened yesterday to the Lady Kaia at our wedding but, blessed by friends, justice was swiftly delivered to the attackers.

What happens next though will be up to others to decide.

In the past, talk of romance in the city always drove me into the woods to escape memories of lovers gone, but I never really found solace there. Instead, I always seemed to stumble over every trace of them -- and a bitter ache they left behind.

This spring though, I sought those old familiar places out.

Some path we explored together under the trees until the walls were out of sight, unwinding our histories for one another as we walked hand in hand.

An old cave we sheltered in during a winter storm; the blinding snow outside hid the rest of the Dream, and for a while we could forget our duties and pretend the only thing in all the world we lived for was one another.

A moonlit pool in a hidden glade that cast visions of our passion back at us as we lay beside it.

Whatever pain was left in them is faded, and I found myself only smiling fondly.

It's been a long time since my heart was full, but I think I've come to hope for it again.

I had the pleasure of taking part in a knightly quest.

There was everything one would hope. Lost islands. Ancient, holy temples. Golden treasures. Adorable and clever otters. Mystical puzzles. Brave princes and princesses.

I think, however, that my favorite thing to take away from it has been a patch of mushrooms, found near a set of standing stones, on land holy to the Triad of Creation. I hope to see if Petal will help me transplant them to the Stone Grove.

Their spirits have the most wonderful little song, sung all in harmony, and made not of words, but of unity. They sing of the promise of joining their song, should you just take them into yourself.

Mostly, I find it pretty, and unique, and adorable. Hopefully the other shamans will too, and it will enrich the Grove.

I'm mostly not tempted to nibble on one and see what happens. After all, some mushrooms will kill you horribly with as little as that.
Still. Perhaps I should try to feed some to a mouse, to see what happens.

Maybe I'll get to hear a mouse sing, too.

It is good... humbling... reassuring... to be reminded that no matter how dark the night or long the road, having hearth and family at the end of either is a privilege not to be underestimated or squandered. Those gifted such privilege owe a debt of honor of such magnitude that one could live a thousand years and never repay it.

My Nan used to tell us that one.

She did funny voices for the different beasts.

I miss her. Too bad she was eaten by bears.

I attended my brother and Kaia's wedding today. An attack happened. What was meant to separate only ended up unifying a city and families even more. My family has seen far too much loss lately and I'm grateful that this was stopped. But now it needs to end.

With that, I am very happy to welcome Kaia Malvici to the family. My sister.

Relationship Note on Elisha

Herein is recorded the final writings of the commoner Elisha, who on the seventh of April, one thousand and twelve years after the Reckoning, was banished by the Church of the Pantheon for apostasy against the Faith. Such writings are recorded for the sake of knowledge only, pursuant to the holy command of our Lord Vellichor, and are anathema in the eyes of our holy Church.

There was once a great and powerful beast, so big and so strong that no one in his forest could ever truly challenge him. The beast never lacked for food, but still, it felt as though he could never quite get enough, and he was always, always looking for more, and whenever he found something, or someone, to eat, he would gobble them up without really thinking about it. And the more he ate, the larger he grew, and the less hope anyone ever had of stopping him from eating them up.

But one day, another beast turned up in the first beast's woods, and this beast was large...so large the first beast could not have imagined anything could ever be that big and powerful. The first beast puffed out his fur and bared his teeth so that the second, much larger beast would understand that these were his woods, full of his food, and the second beast would give the first beast all the respect he felt he was due.

But the second beast scoffed at what it saw as a small, tiny, insignificant thing, and went about its business without much heed for the first beast in any way whatsoever.

The first beast was furious at this disrespect, and decided that the only thing he could do to prove it was the better predator was to eat even more, even faster, and grow larger than this second beast that dared to intrude in its forest. So the first beast began to gobble up absolutely everything he could find or catch in the forest. he ate birds and rabbits and insects and deer. He ate wolves, and bears, he ate fish and berries. And he grew and grew, but no matter how much he grew the second beast was always so much larger, and it would always laugh at him. So he kept eating and eating and eating until there really wasn't much left in the forest to eat, and his stomach ached so much he could barely stand the pain, and hardly move. That's when the first beast decided that, as it was his forest, he would eat that too. And after the third tree or so, the first beast simply exploded into a messy pile of guts and gore that splattered all over his territory. When the second beast saw this he laughed himself sick.

I have learned a great lesson recently. A statement taken without context is simple a statement in which we portray our own experiences, assumptions, and ideals.

I prefer...
I hope...
I think...

Ask why before judgment is cast. Engage before assuming. Learn about people and take interest in the lives of others. Some people are truly fascinating.

For the love of all that is good, I have heard your message loudly and clear.

Stop with the swords. I had to turn the last messenger right back around.

I do not have a belt that was purchased with the intent of carrying /one/ blade, let alone /three/. I have no less than /three/ swords. That is three more than I currently know how to utilize. Have you seen a brawler train with a sword before? Well, I'll spoil the ending for you. The blade tends to go flying an awful sharding lot - and that's even without an opponent. You've made your point. I'll try. But please, /please/ no more swords.

...unless it's Alaricite.

But let's be realistic, here.

The celebration has been splendid and all I had wished for: a fine evening with my friends, having fun, being playful and a good conversation. Thank you to all those who came to celebrate with me and make me happy and all the beautiful gifts.

I would like to apologize to the lamp that had been the victim of a misguided cream pie and has been promptly replaced and now resides in my chambers, marked by shame but loved nonetheless.

When the Spring comes anew and others find their thoughts turning toward romance, I find my own turned toward love as well, but not romance. No. The love of my grandmother, sitting before dawn in the courtyard of our estate. How her wiry round lensed spectacles made her look like a shrunken but fierce owl, merciless in the hunt for accounting errors and ways to make our incomes bloom and grow like the roses she so loved. Or sitting at the spinning wheel, weaving threads with which to sew as surely as the threads she wove into the tall tales she told me. I wish she had seen the last year. She already well loved the family we were sworn to, but I cannot imagine her pride in our alliances and allegiances with such a strong house. She nearly lost her mind when the titan was completed. She was bragging for weeks as if she had built it with her own gnarled hands.

I have spent much time this week in selfish pleasures, but is pleasant to get out into the city after being cooped up all through the winter. Granted Cotyar gives me long stares when I return home late in the evenings and it isn't so great staying up long hours to catch up, but Farshaw aren't made for this sitting about business so he endures my odd hours.

Besides, I could not pass up the opportunity to catch up with my dear sister, Lisebet, and shamelessly distract her through her adventure around Arx and Princess Sabella's scavenger hunt. It was a temporary distraction from buying myself a new outfit.

Then there was Lady Mabelle's fantastic party. I am evidently rusty on my pie-throwing, a skill I never knew I would need!

With the Assembly coming up it hasn't been all filling my time with diversions. I have been giving deep thought to what I would say, if I am moved to do so. I believe this one will more contentious than the last.

It has also been a week of generosity towards House Farshaw, which I do hope to use to prosper the House and those that gifted us. Yes, the list of those to meet with or write to grows, but I am never more happy than I am in growing the family business.
