I have completed this journey so many times since coming to reside primarily in Arx. I know just how much to pack, and how much space to leave for extra things I will invariably take with me from Fair Harbour when I return. And yet I know this time when I travel to the Island it will be the last time I do in this chapter of my life, and when I return to Arx I will be leaving behind more than I ever have before. I thought I knew what it was to have one's heart in many places, in my days as a travelling knight. But I know it will be so very different this time. Is it weak to admit some fear in this? I have never much been excited about the unknown, but I have learned to be strong in the face of it. A promise kept, and one part of an oath fulfilled. They are things that build a stronger foundation, a brighter and stronger future. And yet, the tears that I feel threatening are not wholly in joy. If there is one thing I have learned to do in my life it is to look clearly at what one holds in the hand, to take it in, and to make the decision that is the one that is the best of your abilities and intentions.
This is a journey I never thought I would take, not even when I was a little girl. I only hope that I will not disappoint those that now share it with me.

Words surely can not do this extraordinary event justice, nor properly convey what an absolutely /wonderful/ time I had. Princess Berenice is truly a legend and I can hardly keep a smile from my face when I get to see the Second First Harlequin, Evaristo. I managed to win one of the games even! And surely am the envy of no few for being awarded a voucher for a cloak from Elegant Impression. The King and Queen attended, which is just another delight and fond memory I will have of the event. It was also fantastic to catch up with dear friends, some who I have not seen in entirely too long.

Winter has surrendered itself to the change of seasons. I watched the snow melt the other day, turning into so much frosted slush. I had never seen such a sight before. My cousins will surely celebrate.

And now winter makes way for spring, and just in time. Winter's not nearly the dour season for me as it may be for some, but the warmth of spring is still a welcome one; spring's always filled me with a renewed sense of hope, and I believe we have much to be hopeful for.

Illness over the winter has prevented me from doing much but staying in the Kay, close to a fire, and reading. Fortunately, I stocked up significantly on books to tide me over... unfortunately, I'm at the end of my not insignificant pile. Still, spring is here and with it, soon, warmer weather more temperate to my poor health.
It's made me realize how many things in Arx I miss - places and people both - and I look forward to getting out and about again soon.

Bam-Bam, That is what the twins call the armor-smith this week. Two months ago it was either Thump-thunk or something like that, or BangBang. I guess it is to be expected when their room overlooks Southport Square and they can hear him at work in the forge. They still enjoy the toy he gave them. And he was kind and patient with them when we stopped by to warm up a few minutes on the way home. He is a good man.

Some might think we have lost some good people. I think I would disagree. For if we remember the impact they in the lives of those they were close to. The weight of their presence among their comrade, they are never truly gone from us. One day, they will return, and we would greet them then as we would on any other day.

Had the pleasure of hosting a few honored guests from Arx aboard The Osprey recently. The weather was fine and the sunset was almost as beautiful as the jewelry and gowns of of Princess Sabella and Lady Braith.
Lord Theron and Prince Niklas joined us as well, and the prince mentioned at one point, that it was good to know that if pirates attacked, other pirates would come to aid. Aye, the traditions of my House cannot be describe better than piracy - but we respect the Compact's laws, and such words from a Grayson Prince seemed to impact the entire crew. Made us feel like we have a place, something worth protecting, allies to enrich and enemies to plunder. I swear even old Hob stood up a little straighter, grumbled less, and had a gleam of destiny twinkle in his eye.
My thanks to those who came aboard. I hope you had fair winds on the ship back to Arx.

Our birthday is next month. Is this where we thought we would be? A reminder that I expect a present, and need to figure out how I will ever top last years. It will not be easy, but maybe I shall be the present and come for a visit. It isn't like I don't know where you've gone, you can't hide. We are forever connected.
