Relationship Note on Asger

You are not forgotten.

Though the trail be long and dark, and filled with blood, I will see it through to the end.

Relationship Note on Austen

I've been behind on most of everything, which is also why I haven't really taken any commissions as of late. My focus the past several weeks has been an alaricite claymore for my brother. It is only the second piece of that metal I've ever made and I have to say, it is probably the best quality blade I have forged in my life thus far. I pray that it will serve him well and for many, many years yet to come. There is only so much I can do to help protect him against the evils of this world, to my often dismay.

Ethics are a system of moral values dealing with what is good and bad and with moral duty and obligation. They can be highly personal, derived from your understanding of the world, but even personal ethics tend to correspond with public ethics. Every society has to have a set of unwritten rules that govern behavior. Otherwise, you wouldn't have a society, you would have a collection of competing strangers.

Lord EEEErik and lord AAAArik are going to cause a great deal of confusion. Lord Erik Grimhall, you have my utmost apologies for my confrontation today.

"...even the most terrible moments of the Dream are weaker than love."

Somethin Eli said in a weird dream I had. Figured those're some strong words anyone might wanna know.

Love can be terrible too, but I reckon it's worth whatever, in the end.

I have always enjoyed events put on by Baroness Acantha and the Snow Ball didn't disappoint. She is such a welcoming host, and clearly spared no expense on the lovely decorations and gifts. Her musicians were as lively a group as I could have wished, and I believe I may be sore from the dancing for days!

There are a few individuals who are given to nonsensically reductionist arguments to defend their beliefs which they shrilly and violently proclaim are the truth known with a clarity no one else could possibly match, or the only way to do one thing or another. The world is one of nuance and subtlety. Forcing everything and everyone to bend to one's hardened views and ossified opinions is akin to trying to play a harp with a rake.

You will make a loud racket while mangling the strings that way, but won't produce a tune anyone would care to dance to.

Relationship Note on Tyche

It is a great relief to be reunited with Gluttony. My father's sword -- every time I see it, I am reminded of all he managed to do with his life, and the ignoble way his life was taken from him. It has a strong legacy to it, and legacy comes with expectation. But I've no intention of living up to that legacy.

I will exceed it. Magnificently.

I have the Countess Tyche to thank for this joyous reunion, marred only slightly by the most minor of blunders. It will serve as a very memorable day, though perhaps not for the reasons one might have hoped. Nonetheless, the bond holds true indeed.

It will be my pleasure to serve as your sword.

Despite your most adamant attempts to scuff it on your floors.

What an interesting day. Queensrest is usually filled with dagger-eyes and snobs, but it was fairly pleasant this time around.

I have returned to Arx. And like the last time I was here, the streets are cold and frosty and snowy. I dislike it.

On the other hand, spiced wine and roasted chestnuts. They don't soothe the sharply frigid edge of the weather, but they're certainly quite tasty seasonal fare. So there's that.

On a slightly unrelated (maybe?) note, I'm keeping this journal entry as light and harmless as a feather. Not even a sliver of a controversial opinion here. I want to get settled into the city before I start bickering with people over the whites.

My anxiety was for naught this afternoon, except for my miscalculation of attendees. I didn't make enough cloak pins so I will be fixing that post haste.

We had a wonderful turn out for the Clearlake Snow Ball and I shall say now that there will be one next year as well, maybe alongside the Winter Festival so we can have games in the day and ball at night.

The winner of the cloak auction was Whisper Scipio and I am glad that he loved it. We donated 150,000 silver tonight to the Faith in the name of the Tenny Twins, this does nothing to return them to us or their bright futures that laid ahead of them, but hopefully with the continued support to the Faith and others it will help. I will personally be making a donation to the Scholars as well in the following weeks.

I wanted to personally thank everyone that attended. Everyone was on their best behavior, even Benny. And we even had the lovely Blood Moon over head still that added a crimson hue to the outside world.

The Eclipse makes me want to write music. I started a bit of it last night, at the ball, but I didn't really go anywhere with it yet. I don't know if it's any good, and probably it needs to be edited and expanded upon.

On this fateful night, soft shadows undulate, obliterate the light...
And under crimson moon, dancing brilliant, silent whispers all too soon...
Dare to dream this eve, oh take that chance, once the mysteries weave...

Perhaps the most unfortunate thing about having a bit more free time, is that it's freed me up to pay attention to the news and to the steady trickle of white journals.

I staunchly believe that I was a fair bit happier before I started trying to muddle my way through the politics and backbiting and infighting. I am entirely out of my element in this regard.

If I can afford good armor, I'll buy good armor. Its origin scarcely matters, nor its shape. It needs only be breathable, flexible, and able to stop me from being impaled by the first dagger or arrow to find my back as I scatter to let the soldiers due their dying duty.

Last night's masquerade was fun. The prize pool was certainly worth the risk! Avoiding gazing into mirrors was difficult, but I did manage. I don't recall a single person who looked at their reflection being happy with what they saw.

A /grand/ event with wonderful costumes and delightful guests. Thank you, again, to the Velenosans for hosting, and for their generosity of gifts.
