For the first time in weeks I finally feel the relief of weight off my shoulders. The road ahead is still rocky but I have every faith in those who have stepped forward to help us and I cannot feel more blessed than I do in this moment. Letters from Tor keep pouring in, family, friends, acquaintances, all lending their support, offering their kind words during what has been a difficult time for so many. It is a balm to my soul to know we have so many who wish to see us succeed compared to those who only wish for our demise.

In Arx alone, taking time with certain influential people has reinvigorated my spirit. I am ever so thankful to Baroness-Regent Lucita Saik. Her friendship is priceless. Those of you who have had the pleasure of getting to know her, know exactly what I mean. My sister-in-law, Voice for House Malvici, Lady Fiora, has also stepped forward to lend her support. I am ever so grateful we have been able to work through our differences over the years. Fidante and Malvici are stronger together through our marriage alliance. Fidante's vassals, especially Mazetti and Tessere, have unselfishly given of themselves to assist their liege and I cannot express how humbled I am by their show of support.

Through the faith by way of Legate Ailith and Archlector Brigida, we have begun to heal as a people. Their blessings for the fallen and for our commencement to forge ahead fill us compassion and give us the strength from the gods to take this tragedy and turn it into triumph. I am looking forward to rebuilding what was so brutally taken from us with those who not only mean so much to House Fidante, but those who believe in us, have never let us down, have never betrayed us, and have always been loyal allies.

I raise my glass to you.

Relationship Note on Arcadia

Sonnet for Arcadia

A full mortal blow to this poet's pride
You have struck, dear friend, by your mournful claim
That my affection I'd to th' world deny,
For one I trust without reservation -

For no danger, nor pain have you yet shunned
To stand with me in my hour of need,
Yet no songs for you has my muse yet sung,
And seek now to make sincere remedy,

So that when cold Loneliness seeks your heart,
Give him naught but laughter and haughty scorn,
And send him off to seek some other mark,
As my true love for you shall not be torn.

Not longest distance, time, nor even death
Shall take the slightest part of our friendship.

Relationship Note on Elloise

I tested Elloise's wheely-plank.

Well. For her sake I /experimented/ and tested a hypothesis.

I tested if countesses are able to stay on top of wheely-planks while riding them as fast as they can down the stairs.

They do not.

Furthermore. Wheely-planks down the staircase results in sore arms (from the fall), broken furniture, yelling and scolding and being glared at by your guards and those at Leary house.

I would however recommend this experiment. My next will be, will I be yelled at if I ride that thing through the library? My hypothesis is yes.

I am back in Arx, after my extended journeys. It feels good. Familiar, yet strange. So much has happened in my absence. I have much to learn. Much to catch up on.

And, no doubt, there will be orders to fill and follow.

I've missed the scent of these streets.

Relationship Note on Volcica

Last eve I had a garment made for Lady Volcica for our upcoming pyjama party. When I saw it, I paused. It's something I am struggling to imagine Lady Volcica to wear. She assures me she likes it.

I think it truly exemplifies her as our Rose of the north, so if you come to our pyjama party, please make sure you compliment her on how stunning she looks. She will love it!

I truly, earnestly, cannot IMAGINE being a noble of any standing (or, I suppose, a PERSON) and writing any words in support of the excommunicated. How horrifying that must be for every man, woman, and child who is a vassal of such a noble.

It is always saddening to hear when young lives are ended. Especially when they had such promising futures. Any loss of life really. There is so much loss going on right now that it's hard to keep track of, but we will. If we don't, then we will lose sight of the things that matter.

Good. His name was Good Ansel.

There is nothing good about that dog. I couldn't get it out of the shop at all. It terrorized Demetria who fled to the work forge. There was white hair everywhere and we had to shut down for an hour to thoroughly clean it so that Demetria could come back out to work. There's a tear in the pantleg of a guard and the hem of my skirt.

Gracious, what is that thing? That's not a dog. That's a demon.

Relationship Note on Mabelle

May I posit puppy litters as liquids? Drowning in dog seems perfectly plausible given the amount of fluff in some of your companion's coats.

And while you might let me watch all of them, I cannot in good conscious guarantee you would get them all back. For reasons.

Relationship Note on Petal

I'd say I stopped by a delightful little shop yesterday, but that would be stretching the truth. It was a sprawling thing, the Tangled Skein, aptly organized and with new wonders in every room. The proprietess, one Petal (Penrose, I'd later find) was quite charming. Her accent stood out quite a bit, almost more than the bump of her belly that said she was with child. We had a lovely conversation about fabrics and fashions, before my errands regrettably forced me to cut the conversation short. Still, I've placed my order, and I shall soon have an outfit suitable for Arx winters.

The shops opened and the trickle has been steady but most certainly it has not been the same as when in the Velenosan ward. It is the outside wall and of a certainty, there's a reason that people tend to not travel there. More cramped. But the scholars trot by an press their noses to the window. We shall see if this was foolish or a stroke of genius. It at least leaves me closer to the guild and closer to the people I serve. And home. It is good to get home even through the snow. Far less a trudge.

I had Demetria send the next round of donations to the faith after the sales of the latest beads. When I have them all made, I should send a set to the Dominus and the Legates. Probably better symbolically than more Cardian Steelsilk. I am thinking a wooden bead carved with her symbols, the grooves filled with chips of blue gems, then lacquered to protect it. At least where the chips of gems are. I quite like the idea of the bead wearing smooth over time in contemplation.

I may not need Brigida for that after all.

It is deeply distressing that some people assume that because they have not seen you doing something, that you have not been doing it.

Particularly when you, and others, have sustained heavy losses while doing it.

Just because you don't see it happening doesn't mean that it isn't happening.

All these silks in the Murder tonight!

Standards are slipping again in the City.

Hope a bunch of them don't have to get murdered again to drive home the lesson.

That's even worse for business.

About those luxurious brocade chaise lounging couches, no true lycene house can be without, at the very least, one.

Having one of these at home is somewhat of a /must/. Truly, there is no other type of couch that could possibly be deemed as sensual and evocative of lycene opulence as them.

There's an uncanny appeal to them, something that toys with one's feelings, weakening the willpower that allows for one to stay on their feet. Ultimately, everyone ends up a victim of the urge to make a theatrical drop upon it. It cannot be helped!
