I return to Arx, and I find nothing has changed. Is it comforting, or disturbing? Time will surely tell.

There were so many responses, though I admittedly find some of them weird: I'm saying that the prodigal has it RIGHT. I'll be honest, I thought the pushback would be from men and women of the Compact shocked to hear that the morals of the prodigal are superior to their own.

Perhaps the prodigals replying have gone too deep into our culture and lost their nature-loving ways. Alas.

I should probably find ACTUAL shavs to observe, not corrupted ones.

The Spider Petting Zoo was amazing, thanks to all that showed up - and because of Miss Saro Ulvieto's expertise at the eight-legged little critters. So many ADORABLE spiders there!

I completely forgot to tell Gianna we were hosting it there, but I'm sure she'd be fine with it. Also... No wait, I best tell her that myself, I don't want to spol the FUN SURPRISE!

There are a number of house matters that need attending and, as such, I have rather cleared my schedule as best I could for the next couple of weeks. I take my duties as Minister of Income just as seriously as those of Voice and, hopefully, these recent years of rebuilding and planning will be of benefit to those who seek our assistance.

I happened upon Lady Olivia with some company in Bold Expressions the other evening. Though she doubted me, it was truly good to see her. Sometimes the roads of friendship pass through storms, but such tempests generate no fear for those in my family. I suspect she'll be a favorite aunt of the newborn twins in no time, and I am secretly looking forward to telling them about Lady Olivia's wildest adventures when they're old enough to appreciate them.

Also in Bold Expressions that evening was Baroness Lucita Saik, who spoke with me and Countess Arcadia for a while on other interesting matters. After that conversation, I had been for sometime overtaken by a melancholy mood and a sense of powerlessness. Luckily, Knight Commander Jeffeth and Lord Arik Halfshav have honored me with some difficult training of late, which reminded me that limitations are illusions, waiting to be shattered with insight, the help of friends and allies, and a lot of hard work.

Working with Navegant did teach me quite a bit. And there are a few less pirates now terrorizing the seas, so it's an all around good thing.

Master Gerald's kindness and ability to draw wonderful tales out of thin air is something one must experience in every event they go to!

Fascinating and well worded, thank you for your overwhelming contribution.

Relationship Note on Elloise

What is wrong with you?

This is not some empty, hypothetical question. I am truly, seriously concerned that you are an idiot who has poisoned themselves with their previous experiments and that your people will suffer because you are not fit to lead. Do you experiment on your own people as you wish to experiment on my own? Do they agree to it, or have you taken your title as their Baroness to mean that you can treat anyone like shit?

People of Whitefrost, if you need help blink twice.

I have always believed a Prodigal is due some amount of respect.

The ones who were not assimilated into the Compact at sword point made the wise decision of abandoning their savage ways and coming to civilized society. As Arvum is the Compact's by right, they should be commended for recognizing its dominion. Likewise, those who are taken by force are also due credit. Rather than stubbornly hold their ground on barbarianism to the death, they choose to swallow their pride for a better life. It is only those who must be totally destroyed for their obstinance that truly deserve no sympathy.

It is saddening to hear of so much death and violence against our Prodigals. It is our responsibility to bring them in line with the Compact's culture, the Compact's gods, so they might learn from their superiors. Is that not the entire point?

Otherwise we will simply be fighting Shav to the point of annihilation forever. Eventually it becomes a waste of good soldiers, we know full well that many are smart enough to bend the knee.

Relationship Note on Elloise

Okay, I admit it, I'm fucking baffled.

Do you somehow think that Prodigals (and Abandoned, I guess) don't understand lying, or are too stupid to know how to put on a front? Do you think lack of manners is 'closer to nature', whatever that means? Am I actually reading that right? Plenty of Abandoned live in houses. Most of them probably live in houses. And villages. And towns. Sometimes castles. What does an absurd amount of silverware have to do with anything? What are you even talking about?

I lived in a tent in the Everwinter and I knew what a fucking fork was. I don't use ten of them to eat a meal because that's a giant stupid waste, not because my inner simple savage ways keep me from it. I think the nobility just get so damned bored they have to keep inventing newer and more ridiculous ways to show each other up.

A fellow Knight of Solace and veritable ray of sunshine. She's a very positive woman. I, of course, can appreciate siblings that decide to swear themselves to the Faith and Gild and the Silver Order so we certainly share that in common. It's important to build camaraderie within the Order and she certainly makes that easy.

Baroness Stormbreak.

It's hardly an experiment when you use terms such as unmannered savages and lack of civilization. Science asks for questions, not Labels, and I am. Unsure what your question in this rambling is . These are hardly subjective terms that you've used. You have already made choices on how we are to be viewed and in all honesty, it repulses me.

If you had a true interest in learning about Prodigal houses you would study their history. How they got here and what their culture and beliefs have brought to the compact. Not some random rubbish about how you now feel over cultured in comparison.

Finally, House Leary has always encouraged knowledge and learning, but not when it involves the degradation of people or their culture.

No, you may not.

We are not savages, noble or otherwise. We are human beings with out own cultures and own beliefs. We are certainly far more well-mannered then many in this city that call themselves Peers.

I'm excited to help Master Sven with the grand opening of the new Arx location of Whitehold Brews! His family has made incredible drink for House Halfshav for generations and I'm so pleased that the rest of Arvum now will get a chance to sample their mastery.

Relationship Note on Yvon

The world when I was a child, was small. As I grew, it grew around me and with each year that passes, the world expands ever further beyond my ability to imagine. It contains things that I cannot begin to understand, things that fill me with a sense of wonder and astonishment that steals my breath. But there is a dark to every light, a nightmare matched to all the dreams. That is what fills me with purpose, encourages me to be my best, brightest self each and every day. To bring light to those who falter in the shadows, to give warmth and joy where I might, however I might. To be hopeful in the face of woe and danger and darkness so that others might feel the light's warmth and join me there.

There is no shame in being ignorant. Gods know there is too much in the world to claim to know even half of everything, though there are those among us that certainly seem to know more than half. It is what we do with the knowledge we have that matters. I wish you well on your journey.
