Since my last short trip away everything feels so new, as if even the most brief time at sea has brought some fresh wave over the city once I returned.
I can say that it has been nice to get some work done on The Salon, the new construction has been wonderful, and I know that with the re-dedicated support of its wonderful members we shall make the Salon greater than it ever has been.
I cannot thank everyone enough for the assistance, especially with the interior decorating!

This week I was lucky enough to meet and catch up with some really nice people.
The lovely Princess Valencia, is always a joy to be around with.
She makes such a great job at the Hart.
Making everyone, regardless of status, feel worthy of enjoying her company.
Had I to choose my favorite Velenosan Princess, it would be her.
On the other hand, I saw Captain Ajax there; and, met both the Lord Braden Laurent and the Prince Jasher Thrax.
They seem like interesting fellows.
Sadly, I had to take my leave too soon and, I wasn't able to engage much in conversation with them.

Oh, another birthday come and gone. And a good time to reflect on all the treasures that have been added to my life in the last year. My beloved lady's success, and knowing that I had a small hand in aiding it. Another year that despite my fears no harm has come to my siblings. Another year that I miss Mother so deeply, and would give almost anything to hear her laugh down the hall, or to feel her hand upon my cheek. New friends coming into my life and sadly some leaving it. A store that has prospered, and a little place to carve out for my own. New hopes, broken ones too. Some worries set aside, and others that grow. But I am still here, I still feel the sun's light upon my face despite the stinging of the show. There are so many things I long for. But just as this year of my life has ended, I have turned over the page to the next year of it to see if I can chase them just a little further.

Relationship Note on Luca
I miss stepping over you in the hallway, only to stop every third trip over to sit beside you on the floor for a stolen moment of friendship. I still take an overly large step when I reach that spot, and I will always sit on the floor even if you are no longer able to just to remember you fondly.
You were so much more than you let anyone see, and I will always hold dear that you allowed me to see some of those parts.

I heard of a hobby or a trade or something where by a man builds a wee ship inside of a bottle.
I thought it was a silly thing, impractical to say the least.
Then I remembered how many sailors manage years at sea without incident, only to drown in a bottle.
Maybe those ships will help some of those sailors.

I wish I could have spent more time the other night visiting with the Fidantes and friends, its been such a long time.

Many things have changed since I came to Arx, I have become sword to House Blackwood and War Minister. I have my sister whom I would ask no other to be, she is brave and truly amazing. Then I have also found my beloved whom soon (In the spring) I will call my wife, so much has happened since coming to the city. I do not regret it at all, soon I will get to spend my life with my Orchid.

A couple of us who are associated with the Truesworn are, for the first time, acquiring some lastingly favourable reputations among the general populace. This is as unfamiliar a situation as it is strange and novel. But it seems that work on developing Esterhold - and Tenebrae's success in creating her renowned Towers - has earned us a name for promoting the prosperity of our domain: something of which I confess I am more than a little proud. There are certainly greater glories that might be won, but if I am to cause a momentary ripple in history, then let it be for managing to make lives at least a little better and safer.

At times I feel like I am spinning out of control - spinning and failing.
Then I'll have a moment of peace talking to my sister, my cousin, my partner and I hope it will steady.
I think my animals know when I am spinning too. I took a nap and woke to find Sally's bushy tail mimicking my pony tail, Muffin arranged half on my feet and Bird valiantly trying to crawl up one of Muffin's legs. It was silly, but for a moment all was still.

I had a great time at the Winter's Escapade party hosted by Princess Marisol and Lord Erik. We arrived just in time for the drinking contest which was a blessing and a curse. Though I did not win, I think I drank enough not to bring shame upon the Northlands. I also had the privilege of writing for, and playing my lyre to accompany the voice of Lady Azolla Nightgold. Her voice is beautiful in its range, but it has a haunting, soulful quality that can touch one's heart, like the memory of a departed friend, or the the smell of something that reminds one of home.
Afterwards I found myself in the stone pools at the Golden Hart. I don't know if there's anything so relaxing as good conversation amid a light snowfall, while soaking in warm, clean water. It was just what I needed. My thanks to the Princess and the Lady Adventurer for their company.

Eeeeeeh, Winter again.
It's weird, I've been in this city for over a year now. I remember coming to this city on my own carrying just my iron equipment and a handful of silver. Not even sure if my Comrades would come to join me. It's much different in Arx. I am always worried to an extent that those that answered my call will not be happy here. If they would struggle to find their niche in stride.
Here the people are outwardly warmer, though, there's always the suspicion that it is just a want. So many high end nobles to the point that even I have being surprised at meeting a new Princess or Prince. Makes a man like me feel small. But it's impossible to deny the profits from being here so for now? My lads and I shall stay.
During this winter will be a time for growth, for we will meet the business demand that follows within the spring.

The great road,
Love it, hate it. It's a sign of progress for better or for worse. With my contract completed with the Halfshavs and winter is coming. It's time to reflect on if I think the Road is a good addition or not. It's profitable and has it's uses but as I learned walking with the caravans the Shavs are making great use of it too. It'd be hard to argue that it didn't cause more harm then good in the town of Cascade Springs.
Still though, before I returned to Arx properly. It was a sight to see. The Halfshavs are good folks, and I look forward towards more work with it. But with the ease of use the road holds, means any further steps are going to get more dangerous as we all go on.
The way see it is. Even though, I heard a lot of grumbling over it. The road itself can be a great boon for everyone involved, but the question really is. Are ready for the challenges it also brings?
