The style of swordsmanship I use employs my free hand, the clawed ends of the gauntlet, as a means of defense and offense.
Its effective. You just have to have the gauntlet designed in a certain fashion.

As a brawler, weaponsmith and occasional armorsmith, I almost want to attempt knifed gauntlets. I did a rather exquisite fan with daggers, in fact, not that long ago. The problem with gloves may be that you are always walking around dagger out, so to speak, while wearing such things. I mean, I guess you could also have some special gloves made that would work like a sheath? I can't imagine your fingers would be useful at all that way though. The Gods know I've often wondered about a diamondplate this or that for those of us only schooled in the sweet science. Maybe something to ponder more seriously.

I am grateful for whatever choices, those deliberately made and those that perhaps 'just happened,' that have lead to the closeness I have with my family and pseudo extended family. My husband, my cousins, my dear Redrain and Greenmarch family, my confidence and trust in others that has been so quickly returned, these are all blessings. The terrors and uncertainties seem easier to face knowing we might do these things together. I am glad we have each other's backs.

Knives on a gauntlet?
This really does sound like a job that you should tackle with Baron Audric de Lire. Fixing knives to a glove really sounds like something the good Captain-General probably did a decade ago. Or yesterday.
I think I smell the next big collaboration of 1010 AR!

Oh, it's been tried, but the issue is one of leverage and wrist positioning. As impressive as it seems in our imagination, flesh and bone are far tougher than we realized and with the blades coming out over the back of your hand it means sometimes there is no good way for your hand to bend to absorb impact. At best you will continuously do incremental damage to your fingers and if you strike there is a very real danger of dislocating your wrist in one go.

Myself, I feel that the added weight to a gauntlet would interfere with sword play as well as potentially getting in the way. Perhaps as a primary weapon for a brawler could suffice. Might I suggest instead adding points to the gauntlet instead, concentrating the force of the blow in the same way that a flanged mace does

I have more occasions to look at maps, now, and learn the geography of Arvum. It's interesting to know where particular plants come from, and where they grow best.
It still surprises me that there's no house that's built their estate on the big peninsula southeast of Lenosia, or.. along the entire western coast north of..
..you don't remember the place either, scholar? Oh well. Someone can look at a map if they read this and really want to know.

Never before in my life have I been discouraged from being inquisitive and curious, from trying to learn more. But now I know the danger that comes with reaching for something someone doesn't want learned.
I hope I can be brave enough to continue searching. I hope that if I find what it is I seek, I will be wise enough to know how to use it. And I hope I'm lucky enough to be protected again, should I need it, by forces beyond my ken and understanding.
I know I will be lucky enough to have the understanding of my family and friends -- that is not a matter of hope but a certainty.

Life takes strange turns. I certainly at ten years old would never have guessed my life would be as it is now. Commandant Baroness-Consort Violet Farwatch. I almost cringe writing that out, it sounds so...snooty? Yet I worked hard in the Blades to get where I am. The Baroness bit? I don't think anyone could have predicted that one. It still is a shock. Perhaps that's why I've become known as something of an eccentric. I'm still used to just speaking mind and most would chalk it up to, 'That Commoner Mercenary Leader'. I need to get better at it.

Has anyone ever tried to put knives on gauntlets?
It seems so simple and yet also so ingenious at the same time. When one weapon fails, you'd have four or five more upon your fingers. Like the claws of a beast. Surely some brawler can adapt something similar?

I adore Princess Reese. She is so charming and so poised and delicate while being strong as diamondplate, and valiant. AND she writes. Not my genre of books but nonetheless. She seems to be one of those who are well loved and actually /worthy/ of the praise heaped on them. I should like to become good friends with her eventually

It's easy to get a bit lost in the weeds and frustrated sometimes, trying to contend with various challenges that have the definite feel of being impossible. So it's nice when you have a chance to talk with old friends, and make new ones, and discuss anything but those problems. Even just hearing about the troubles of others is a relief of sorts.

Saw a performance of the Copper song at the Unkindness. Captain Evaristo might have a good career as a bard ahead of him if he were just to get over this boat nonsense.
