Relationship Note on Jeffeth

I met Sir Jeffeth the first week I landed in Arx, and I feel very fortunate to be able to call him my friend.

My cherished confidant has returned from his journey at last; and although, the other day he found me slightly troubled, and in a state that shows I haven't been resting quite well for some time now, he was most kind and understanding. He took care of a silly wound I got while plucking a rose -those disconcerting dreams have kept me fairly on edge; nonetheless, he provided me with a much-needed relief and solace. I'm so glad he's back, his presence alone is comforting during these troubled times.

It's been an up and down week. I have found myself restless over strange vivid dreams since the clocktower's collapse; and, most recently, what appeared to have been, and this is my guess, a vision. It's been troubling me for quite some time. I have decided to spend most of my time at the archives researching on both, personal and external, matters. I do hope to find some answers soon so I can get some peace and well needed sleep.

The goal of the dinners being auctioned off was to bring individuals of note and or infamy together and auction off chances for people to partake of a meal with them.

Admittedly, some of them are not Arvani and so I found that a caution was needed. When a handful of your invitee's state 'they had best not be boring or annoying or I can't promise no injuries" Well. It will be interesting meals no doubt.

But the game made of the mystery one has been something that I've enjoyed and a very good idea by the Lady Monique. Another stanza in the poem is released and some guesses have started to trickle in. But my big question as I watch over the ledgers that the bids are recorded in is who will win that prize.

And will they survive? Gods, I hope they survive. No, no, I'm sure they will.

Never has any answer to any question given me so much hope.

This will be our most worthwhile experiment.

More often than not, things being too quiet bugs me more than things being real crazy. My hackles are up, but I don't reckon I understand exactly why.

Contracts are poetry. (Posterity, if it is bored, may decide if this stance makes me a romantic or aromantic.) They have form and meter, invent words at need, and convey the complex, intangible, and aspirational. They are truth, the expression of that most defining human trait: the freedom of exchange between two individuals. "I choose." "I will." "I commit." This is a contract's prose.

I've argued that Nilanza's House of Vows is our most beautiful building. I do not know art or architecture. It is beautiful because of the acts it sanctifies - those of free people making a committed choice.

In this last month, Arx's white journals, its grand gatherings, have been beautiful - dare I say poetic - too. Long may they, we remain so.

Now that the warmth from the whiskey and the fire have both died down, and I peer over the edge of the rooftop to the dockyard below.. perhaps a contest to see who could jump over the bonfire on the roof wasn't the best of ideas. But I did get to see a man almost fly.

Relationship Note on Pasquale

I've only had the opportunity of a handful of encounters with the Lord Pasquale, and most have been due to business. And yet, from the moment we met, I could readily see why he's risen to Voice for the Marquessa Lianne. A steady head, an easy and amiable personality, yet to the point in matters. For any who might seek to strengthen ties with the growing trading port that Nilanza is becoming, I cannot help but recommend people seek him out.

I picked up one of the copper pins everyone is raving about these days as the must-have fashion accessory in these perilous times. Of course, I was a bit shocked to see that they were offered without cost. While I'm of course impressed with the selflessness of such an act by a clearly talented smith (the piece is simple but exquisite) I should try to find out if there is a fund or charity of some sort set up to support the current efforts to bolster Arvum's hope and harmony.

I usually try to do what is right.

Most of the time I'm not totally sure what the right thing to do is, so I really hope that people treat me with forebearance and forgive when I do it wrong.

I've dreamed a dream far-flung, but with no roads.

And no roads is a travesty. So with the harbor currently occupied by boats that don't paint the friendliest of pictures, it occurs to me that while trade over the southern seas is profitable and expedient, putting all of our eggs into one brine-laced basket isn't the best thing for the delicate balance of the market. I'll be seeking out those with a head for trade, travel, and thinking outside of the established lines, so to speak. Neither man nor monsters (nor great hulking behemoth ships) should ever stand in the way of trade, whatever road we may need to pave.
