the sun fights the wind to rise
its light catching the frost
swept from naked branches
and painting dawn over the snow.
At the window, I hold my breath
but not my heart.

The Softest Whisper Anisha was very kind, spoke with a warmth and was very welcoming of me into their ranks as an apprentice. This is only a single step in a much longer journey but with luck, the city will never forget me this time. I will make an impression that is not forgotten any time soon.
P.S. The scholars have informed me that my last line sounds "very sinister" and warned me it may send bad impressions. I guess I am just clarifying I mean that I will be doing good things. Like whisper work, or doing business. I am also going to be visiting your shrines to try to understand your gods. I am told that writing in journals is pleasing to Vellichor, so I have already taken the first steps!

It wasn't easy to leave but have been blessed to have my family and Ferrando around to care for Carson. My beautiful Cari is six now and I can't believe how big she's grown. We have a lot of catching up to do. She's excited to have me home, too. We've got some big plans on the horizon and this is only the beginning.
To the future!

Right now, I want to focus on my gratitude. I am grateful to my wonderful friend who has stuck by me and never judged me for the things others might be unkind about, who seems to think I chose her as patron - but really she took a chance on me as protege, Lady Thea Malvici (who needs to throw around her Droungos General of Southport title more often - did you know she's General of the Phoenix Brigade? She is). Without her, there would have been no Golden Buckle Tourney to brighten spirits today.
Also, the tourney was made all the better by the contributions of Duke Harlan Ashford and Princess Valencia Velenosa. The duke provided the bull and animal handlers, while the princess offered her venue and made sure modifications tot he space were done in a timely fashion. Further, I need to thank Master Apollo Oakwood for his kindness in donating the door gifts and the prize - an ostentatious belt buckle. Further thanks goes to Lady Eirene Riven for coordinating medics that were onsite. Having such amazing help from all corners makes me feel like I must be doing something right.
Reader, if you see any of the riders out and about in the next few days, you should know that they are all amazing. They tried something new! They were brave and good-humored and impressive: Lady Thea Malvici, Lord Drake Wyvernheart, Princess Macda Grayson, Lady Neilda Saik, Mistress Asralyn, Archlector Hamish, Count Orrin Seliki, Count Domonico Magnotta, Scout Rowenova, and Lord Michael Bisland - with special congratulations to Lord Bisland for his astonishing win from lasting 19 seconds on the bull!
Lastly, thank you to everyone who came out to spectate. I'm so glad I had the chance to entertain you today. It was good to see so many in one place. A nice reminder of what it is that we aim to protect.

Please note that the scholars may take some time preparing your journal for others to read.
