Relationship Note on Ryhalt

Duke Farshaw's friendship has been nothing but a boon for me throughout the years.
The competitive nature of it has brought nothing but motivation and prosperity for both houses.
May it last for years to come.

The gathering of people that came to the Cathedral to help put up the scaffolding was both diverse and very helpful! Some dear friends, acquaintances, and new faces all came together to lend their strength and aide. Archlector Brigida offered a blessing, which was quite beautiful.

I was glad to help Sir Porter in his great drive to see the Cathedral repaired and feel like a small part in this large undertaking.

Nothing pleases me quite so much as shoving all these military matters off on the expert in the family. Anyone but me!

Not that I fail to appreciate the impact of inspiring armies or their needs, but unless it comes down to a broader understanding of historical impacts, this so isn't my strong suit. Let us all be grateful for the expertise brought by those around us.

Remember. It is effective that if you want someone dead and they happen to die under mysterious circumstances? Great lengths should be pursued and considerable resources exhausted to discover the validity of those claims. Always, always, always ensure that they won't reappear in a year or two or six or seven.

When in doubt, pray to the Queen of Endings that she summarily finish the job.

Experiments with the many-stringed lute continue...apace, I suppose? It will only take so many strings as is, so I had to extend the soundboard out horizontally, and the neck, and of course that's ruined the resonance entirely because I'm not a luthier and it's taking an awful lot of cat gut but it's interesting. I never dabbled in music much before.

I need a green dress. But not forest green or lime green or sea green or mint green or moss green or bile green - ha! Just making sure you were listening, Scholar. Why are there so many greens and all of them are wrong?

I must remind myself that I too have chosen a path to walk down, and it is not an easy one. That I have chosen to dedicate my life to something bigger than me. Bigger than I could have ever imagined.

I will breath frost into the soul of my creations.

My words are for one man, though 'man' is a term I use very loosely, as he is not worthy of it. Wherever he is, I hope they reach him.

Anyone who threatens my people will live to regret it.
Anyone who harms my people will not live at all.

I am going to find you. You are going to pay for what you've done.

Every dancer must stand in stillness
waiting, poised on feet prepared to ache,
breath trembling and ready for the call
to motion, the demand of drumbeat
and movement.

I am waiting still and in my ears
there is only my steady heart.

I, like many others, awaited the end of the Convocation with bated breath. I haven't spoken much on the aftermath of my uncle's assassination - or of the mockery Waldo Bellerive has made - here. Weeks have passed, the initial grief and fear has subsided. I have had the great privilege of hearing many stories shared by those whose lives were touched by him. Similarly, I have been gladdened by the rejection of division I have witnessed. The statement released by Waldo Bellerive, former Seraph of Sungreet, dared to claim the tragedy of my uncle's assassination as it's foundation for righteousness - a tragedy manufactured by the very man he has chosen to support over the Faith. Ivan Helianthus and his so-called traditionalists attacked us in our streets, our homes, our places of worship, and our places of community. Waldo Bellerive has leant his voice to that cause.

"We stand upon the precipice of a great and terrible conflict" that Waldo and Ivan and their traitorous ilk foment. "Now, in the wake of Dominus Orazio's tragic death" we must rally behind the Faith and the Compact to route out those who would abuse and subjugate us. We must "no longer remain silent and accepting of the corruption in our midst, of attempts by deceitful men and women who seek to sunder the Church." Waldo's own words ring ceaselessly, sounding of hypocrisy again and again as he attempts to lay blame at the feet of his victims. He claims piety while denying Death in her own city, while allowing the Great Cathedral to be burned and templars slain on its stairs and for a sword to fell Beloved Orazio at his table in the Queensrest. In case it was not clear: I do not, and will never, recognize any authority in Waldo Bellerive. I do not accept his censure of me as a Harlequin of the Queen of Endings. I will not go to him, humble and penitent, begging for forgiveness. I do not beg.

Instead, I will continue to be a devoted Harlequin, bringing the comfort of the Queen and Mother into people's homes when they are unable to come to the shrine. As a midwife, I will continue to shepherd precious souls into this world while providing care and counseling to expectant mothers and mother and child in those early days after birth. I will continue to sit with the dying so they are not alone or scared as their soul returns to the Queen, and I will provide grief counseling to those who loved them.

The Convocation has ended. The announcement has been made. I stand in support of Dominus Aureth Grayhope, Closest to the Gods. Further, I support Hamish Farmer, Legate of the Lost; Astrid Ulbran, Archlector of Skald; Sir Preston Godsworn, Grandmaster of the Templars and Carnifex of the Faith; and Symonesse Grayson, Queen Consort of the Compact.

He's a pious man.

You wouldn't think it to look at him, my Raymesin, but he prays more than I do. The moment accounts for it, he does it. He takes his time, says it right, and then moves right along. He knows what he is, does his job better than anyone else, but always takes the time to pray.

He is kind in those moments, compassionate for a heartbeat, but he doesn't linger in it. What's done is done, and he keeps on after.

There are being so many things about the world that I had not even considered until now. Things are so different than I could ever have been imagining and there is still so much to learn. It is neverending here in Arx, and I feel adrift in a storm, unable to keep my head above the water, but knowledge is power in Arx and I will succeed. I just need to be having many conversations. I only need know where to begin.

I have to say, I received some lovely letters recently. They made me smile, and also made me question my own thoughts, my own sense of self and put to words some concepts that are generally kept vague in the grand picture. The letters reminded me of those that I have safe in my desk drawer, that I will always treasure, from people I held and hold close to me.

Sometimes, a well-written letter is a perfect gift to lift one's spirits, whether it be long, or short.

Of note:, I enjoy letters, feel free to send them. I also encourage you to send them to others. I am sure there are many who could use and would appreciate the sentiment.

Oh! And should anyone stumble across this journal and want to see what's been donated so far there is a display at the Whitehawk Gallery that shows some of what will be offered! Not everything, but some of what we have gotten so far! Go and marvel at the skill of your fellow Arxians!
