Amid the colonnades, gardens and scriptoriums of the cathedral, disciples went about their business, untroubled so far as I could tell, save with the typical disputes of vow breakers. Instead, I saw the clergy of Ischia offering blessings to the sick and the poor, speaking to the families of the Seraceni court about the duties of marriage before Limerance, and offering advice to merchants on how to best acquire the favor of Gild.
At our quiet garden table, over a glass of Ischian red, Seraph Livia told me that those paying serious attention to Waldo, Ivan and the apostate faction are few on Ischia, though malefactors looking to profit from the situation should not be underestimated. Knowing my nature and policy, she refused to suggest any names for interrogation, and reassured me that faith in the gods and their holy vicars is the best path to peace at home and prosperous raids at sea.
The rest of our conversation passed on pleasing subjects: the best vintages currently available in the city, the latest works of Prince Sebastian Pravus, the songs of Lady Ophira Blackshore, and of course, the jewelry being crafted for the upcoming gala. In the end, Seraph Livia left me inspired and content, and I in turn left a sizable donation to the Faith that had once floated in the hold of Skal'dajan ship.
That evening I was walking past the Fountain of Gild as the first stars were visible at twilight. A painting caught my attention: a group of fashionably dressed nobles or courtiers standing by the fountain in the light of a fresh dawn. The painting itself in its color, texture and composition displayed genius and skill. The more I looked at it, the more I couldn't shake a feeling of familiarity. The eyes of one noblewoman depicted were as clear and blue as the waters of Ischia. Another nobleman was painted with the most exquisite waistcoat. I inquired as to whether the subjects of the painting were inspired by life. She said they were visitors from Arx, helping to solve a dispute among jewelers. I laughed, and paid her an exorbitant fee for the painting.

With that written, I do not think I have prayed as many times in my life as I have in the last week.

We walk it every moment. We make decisions from the moment that we open our eyes and these alter our path and what comes of it. I have always tried to have a respect for the choices people make. I try to remove my bias from them to just accept a choice is a choice. It is not bad. It is not good. Merely a choice. There is always a reaction to that choice which cannot be ignored.
I was musing about the people we meet on our paths. We have people that have become friends, lovers, family, enemies, and everything in between. We interact with people and sometimes make shared choices. It is okay to love a person and not understand the choices they make. It is okay to say good-bye to someone as well. Sometimes the people on our paths are just there for a moment. They are to assist with something, they are to teach us something, and they are a spark not an endless flame in our lives. This, too, is okay.
It is okay to love someone fiercely, so very fiercely and still walk away. It is okay not to like someone for the choices they have made, but we cannot take away their ability to make the choices. There is nothing really pointed to this musing today. It is just people. I have been thinking about people lately. The ones that stay through everything and the ones that were just a burst of brightness for a few moments.

Relationship Note on Khanne
When I have hidden from the world for too long, it is so often Khanne who draws me back out, accompanying me to a party or a poetry reading or simply a walk through the gardens. When I am afraid of getting too excited over things which might not work out, she reminds me to celebrate that moment of hope and possibility, whatever will come. She is my anchor, my complement and my dearest friend.
I am so exceedingly pleased with how well our utterly indulgent night went. Such a selfish thing, in truth, all to meet interesting people. You did not disappoint, Arx. Thank you.

the Murder, but I can't find it.
That probably makes me in need of direction. Ha! But truly, tell me when I can visit.
What? Yes, Scholar. Just so. You are a good man. Don't let them say otherwise.

And also thank you to Katryn for showing me the basics of dog training. I'll probably need a little more training myself if I'm going to be leading the pack, but it's all part of running the house.
