Many plans to be made and still so much work to be done. I work to broaden the reach of our collective here in the city, to meet with people and garner opinions and read the populace; I say without self-pity that there are many who wish us gone and many that welcome us. Such is the state of a city at war. While it makes my job harder, it is still no less fulfilling.

Relationship Note on Felicia

Felicia Harrow, is now sworn to Grayson and I can't imagine a different family I'd want brought in line with Grayson then this bundle of folks.

I would like to thank all of those who have assisted myself and House Magnotta in the recent expansion of it's influence across Cyrto Major and now significantly controls the island, including former enemies in the form the Pol of the Great Bay.
Now will be the time for solidifying the gains made, and expanding the docks on both the north (Fort Magnotta) and the south (Cyrto Keys). Both will be vital for further excursions, trade and military security.

Princess Jaenelle Velenosa came up with a great little competition. I think all my answers are wrong but I will say Raymesin and I giggled into our dinner coming up with them. His were better. I think I got mead out my nose twice over a few.

A spot of levity amidst a lot of serious days. I enjoyed it.

There's tension in the Lowers again. Not the typical kind, not the kind that chases you into alleys and has you holding your breath, or diffusing fights among vendors in the market; something else. Something worse. Fear but not of each other. Everyone is waiting for news, everyone wants direction.

Whatever comes, I'm not afraid, but damn if I don't wish I knew what might.

So I haven't had too much trouble in Arx, Scholar, even when I've been wearing my Harlequin kit out and about. One of the elves - the ambassador, he said - even said nice things about it. He did suggest that maybe bright green spiders could be a fashion statement, though I'm not sure that'd really go with the colour of my eyes. I mean, I'd really hate to commit that sort of fashion muckup. I'm still thinking maybe a snake, though. There are a lot of pet spiders around already, after all, and one shouldn't be seen to be behind the latest trends.

No, I'm not quite sure what point I'm trying to make either. I encountered someone earlier who seemed to think that the Lyceum was all about lounging in gardens, doing nothing, with scantily-clad people around. It might be, for silks like him, but it certainly wasn't for the rest of us last time I was there. Peeling grapes, wafting fans, pouring wine - it was hot and heavy work, and no mistake.

Eh? No, I've just got a lot on my mind. Self-discovery is always fun. Still up for that game of dominoes-and-debate next week? Good, I'll see you then.

When I had first arrived in the city, I advertised having in my possession a small supply of Calderan Bloodstones.

I still have quite a few of the stones left. If you find yourself wishing for a piece of jewelry or clothing adorned with this rare stone from the Saffron Chain, send a message to Giorgio Pontelaeus.

Relationship Note on Noelle

I am not a poet if to such a clarion I sent no answer,
For your luck, princess, let my quill be a dancer,
And move with grace upon this sacred page
That Vellichor might hear, with ears both wise and sage,
A pleasing hymn to cast away your spirit's gloom,
And put in its place an immortal bloom
That like some undying rose of Tor
From the earth shall rise, and skyward soar,
And so one of thirteen I count my verse
To break for good that unlucky curse,
And wish in simple words, but filled with hope,
That only the best of luck now upon you dote.

It's been over two weeks since the Cathedral was burned. And I think we've cleared away the bulk of the rubble that's inside. Not all of it, there's still more. You'd be surprised how much of a ceiling was up there. It was a lot. And even with the all the big bits picked up, there still so much cleaning. It feels nearly insurmountable the level of dust and soot that's settled over everything. And I only barely peaked in at the clergy quarter's just the other day. Everything was charred black.

But on the bright side! We're about to start putting up a lot of scaffolding. So much. Inside. Outside. I'm sure it'll be just like climbing the rigging on one of my ships.

I find, after a recent journey, that I am so struck by wonderment that even trying to recall it leaves me feeling mentally overwhelmed. Perhaps this will fade in a few days. All I can say for certain is that it was everything I expected.

The Manor is feeling a little fuller now with four members of the Magnotta Family now under the roof of it.

Perhaps a family dinner would be a good thing again. I'll look into the logistics of one again.

Relationship Note on Lianne

I think back to when Lianne and I first thought of hosting the Evening of Complements, it makes me smile to think about how we thought the event might go. It of course was not quite at all the way we imagined... as few plans ever take place the way we think they might, do they? But that it was different was not at all a disappointment. The evening far exceeded many of the expectations we might have had. And truly, I wish to thank everyone who attended the night at the Eidolon Gallery, those who contributed to art through whatever medium they chose, and those who enjoyed the art displayed and performed. To see so many enjoy the beauty of cultural aspects warms a heart that has weighed heavy as of late.... so.... Thank you.

Thank you too for Master Brewer Venturo, for creating the fantastic brew, unique to our event only. It was, of course, delicious, and I hope everyone got to enjoy it... He provided art through the brew, and the spinning of a tale, all in the same night.

I hope too that people were able to see what we had aimed with the theme of the evening. Complements. That even if two things seem to be vastly different from one another, there is a place in the middle of differences where the two can meet, where one can complement the other, and vice versa. For myself, I must say, I find a certain exclusive beauty in such things that I cannot find anywhere else.

It's good to be back in Arx. Whether it'll be a brief or lasting visit is determined by the flow of coin to my purse. I'll enjoy it while it lasts though, that's the only way to live. You find yourself in a situation? May as well make the most of it.

Having your toes smacked with a hammer? You'll get an opportunity to learn a new way to dance! Entire family murdered? Sounds like a wonderful opportunity to meet and befriend your neighbors! Someone shot an arrow in your ass? Finders keepers, friend! Sounds like you've just got yourself an arrow to sell! Lost your hand in a duel-gone-wrong? Guess you're going to have the strongest left (or right) arm in all of Arvum!

I need to remember to get a set of manacles or at least some sturdy rope. Ain't really safe to have a potentially dangerous person following you back to your employer, hands free and fully capable of snatching up some club or something to bash your brains in. I'll have to ask around the city, see if there's an experienced hunter around. Need to get my research completed before I'm called to perform!

Thanks for your time, Scholar. You've been great!

Is it a sin to dwell so much upon the fineries of luxury that are so beloved of a friend, and use that as a consolation to their absence? Am I mistaken in the making of all of this? I cannot help but feel as though the very approach of luxurious creations is faulted by timing, but we are still all creatures of beauty, creation, and wonder.
