A day and a night in the Shrine of Gild where I donated a glorious sculpture I had made special, by the late Oliver Arterius, as a testament to this deity of the pantheon.

By Gild's light I have been blessed to succeed, and to give back. It's a gift I've never taken for granted.

I have an idea for a melee tournament. One that ends in a fighter owning a very nice belt, that I myself won in the Tournament of Roses in 1007 AR.

I'm starting by collecting interest. Possibly sponsors. It's an idea only in its fledgling state, but I'm getting more and more entertained by the prospect the more I think on it.

It seems a very strange thing, to be comforted by such things as pretty petals and curling vines. But I have spent a few hours working on a gown of my own, and the effort keeps my mind busy and occupied and away from other more shadowed thoughts, and it's a little easier to smile in spite of that chill on this beautiful warm day.

Relationship Note on Athaur

The noble house Rivenshari swore loyalty to the Compact and pledged itself in fealty to the Crown and to the Faith. To imply that any prodigal--all of whom have accepted the authority of the Church and King--should suffer for their past is an offence against Lord Limerance, for the oaths of fealty demand protection by their lieges; it is an offense to Lady Gild, for the Compact exists so that all within may benefit and aid each other; it is an offence to Lord Skald, for it renders their choices meaningless.

Prodigals are not shav'arvani. In truth, I see little usage for the term. There are only those within the Compact, and those without. So long as those without it bend the knee, no violence need happen. The responsibility lies upon the shav'arvani to make the righteous choice.

It is not any of the Shav dialects. It is not Eurusi. It is not Nox'alfar, Rex'alfar, Marin'alfar, or Sylv'alfar. It is not Draconic. Nor is it Thieves Cant.

I think trying to figure out the inscription on this blade will be harder than trying to figure out the color of the Seraph of Sanctum's underwear.

I finished the knight's tale triptych last week and placed it in the Crimson Square for display. Art should not be hidden or seen by only a few. On my way to the bank this evening the painting is gone.

I do not wish it returned. I only pray that it inspires someone to greater acts of honor and glory, or gives them solace in the ones they already endeavor to complete.

Lavender. It's my favorite flower, medicinal herb, and perfume all in one.

I am reminded of the times I used to decorate my brother's hair with tiny sprigs whenever I would find him napping in odd places around the Estate. The pretty purple against his dark hair was a brilliant color combination, if I do say so myself. I think he would've agreed with me.

It's funny how a simple fragrance can draw forth memories that were once forgotten. That is yet another reason why I love lavender so very much.

My first publication would not be a success without the sterling assistance of Lady Monique Greenmarch. In all ventures, her aid has been priceless. My gratitude shines on her.

What we know above, is adhered below. For does not the sun, in all its glory, bestow light upon the world and thus we must reckon with the scope of its shadow?

[An illustration accompanies these words. It shows the featured sun with a halo of light shining down upon a circle (the world). Dark figures parade around it, dancing, some caught in the space of two lines which are drawn downward forming an inverted triangle. Half of this, the bottom half, is shaded. Unquestionably referencing the shadow as mentioned above.]

Where it is light, somewhere it is dark. Where it is dark -- somewhere it is light. We must, at all times, hold these two thoughts in our minds. The conclusions and calculations of astronomical work is vital in our understanding of a wider scope of existence.

I am so ready for this little one to be born. Healthy and whole, that's the important thing. Happy - that too, hopefully.

At least I will be happy once the babe is on the right side of things.

I've returned from the Telmarch to many interesting things. My brother has returned from Whitehold just a little before me. So maybe this is a good sign.

Perhaps I'm being a most half-hearted mirrormask (by some very particular standards) when I say I'm finding it hard to imagine why I would endorse slavery and thralldom.

I'm not the kindest person at the best of times, and I know it's my place to question and consider... but that's a bit too much for me.

Climbing Duskstone Rose or Caina Milk Thistle. It depends on how much I wish to flatter myself, I suppose.

Apparently I have too much time on my hands if this is all I have to think about. How self-indulgent.

I continue thinking about Otto Rutherfyn. His is a name I recollect quickly enough for all of the work he did for the disadvantaged. There was a kindness to his ambition, but it was ambition that drove him. I admired that about him, that passion for seeing to the needs of others. To serve, for there is no shame in service to others.

And of course, there is Morton Waldo as well. Both of these men have vanished, but one has left behind strange dust and the other their home ablaze. There must be a connection there, but I don't know what it could be.

The question that remains now is, am I nosy enough to look into it? Or I suppose even further: do I have the time?

The Masquerade of Flowers is such a hot topic of late, I've had numerous inquiries if I will be attending. In truth, I am not sure I will be able to even if I want to.

So many wondering if I will be representing Tor as -the- Rose, but what fun would that be to go as something so expected?

Instead, I've sent word to my gardeners in Tor to send a shipment of our renown roses to Archduchess Regent Jaenelle Velenosa as a gift for the decor of her splendid event. If I cannot represent Fidante in person, it is the least I can do.

There are many different kinds of threats. Some are covert, some are overt and some only get better with time, while others welcome open defiance the more they are used. The application of threats can be a good substitute to force, in moderation.

Until recently meeting you, I cannot say I had ever met someone who wished to articulate a view that death through starving and famine could in any way possible be a good thing.

Can't say I would want to again either.

The deaths of people due to being unable to put food upon the table, no matter what the cause, is not a position that someone can hold in truth. While spewing controversial views may feel vogue, it is not.

Well this is just marvelous. A perusal of the whites shows that my People are backwards and the only way that we can be 'saved' is subjugation or death. Wonderful. Fabulous. It is to be expected of course. I am aware that the Abandonded, The Shav'avarni, and Prodigals are looked down upon. I am not wholly ignorant on this fact.

But it is somewhat disappointing to hear the words of supposed learned individuals say that the only way to deal with a people and culture different from their own is enslavement, conquest, or bloodshed
