Porter
The impromptu birthday dinner for Porter was considered a success according to the staff. There was a Kennex asleep next to the pool, another decorated in purple make up upstairs. One passed out on the couch. A declaration of a certain cousin's -huge- talent, a stolen dog, and a new portrait that has been hung with great, if not a little drunken care in the hall of the house. It does make me worry what the brother's Kennex have planned for the pool party this next week.
Happy Birthday Captain Glitter Beard. We're so glad you're back in the city.

One cannot simply remain at a standstill. At some point, the grief has to end and be overcome with a more useful emotion. In my case, it was obsession. As long as I can work on something, I can move past the unresolved blackness that dots my memories. And so I work, and work, and work, until I might collapse all to leave my fatigued mind little chance to revel in those black moments. It is no different now, as I move to find work for myself amongst physicians, explorers, and my former home's new grand bazaar.

It's funny how kindness can come from an unlikely source at an unlikely time. Unexpected, perhaps, but certainly appreciated. It reminds me also that I must resist the urge to make quick, easy judgements about people when I do not know the details of their past.

Chance plays an underappreciated role in human affairs. Whether it is the weather or human error, unexpected events often change the course of history.

I hope that whenever one reads of such bleakness as this that the Dune Kingdoms bear, that it will only do that much more to remind us that the people of Eurus have suffered under as much cruelty and oppression as any in the world, and that we must receive those who are fleeing such depthless misery with all the compassion and care that Arvum can muster.

Arrived in the grand city at around mid-day yesterday. After a bit of aimless wandering (which is the best sort), I was able to locate House Seraceni. Kind Imogene already had a room waiting for me so once I was settled I immediately dozed off.

My patron Gwenna had a baby! I'm so happy for her! I cant wait to teach this baby everything I know! I should just start teaching all the Redrain children when they're older! What an idea!

Last night proved interesting. In the more ways than one. My dog was willingly abducted. Twice. I think once was considered ransom. Finally, Lord Porter's birthday party at the Kennexes. I gifted him a marvelous painting, one I hope he enjoyed. After, I don't remember much.

The butterfly she
Chases in the glen.
She claps her paws
Ovation for flutter
And delights of the

Sometimes a woman has to nap under the bar during her lunch break. There's no way I'd sleep on the Murder Couch. Do you know what that thing has been through? If it could speak, it would scream and scream and scream and then beg for an end. With fire.

Today my cousin showed me the most marvelous little figurine, with a tiny wheel that moves its arm.
I thought instantly of you. I wanted you to see it, to listen to it, to see what story it might tell you. But I cannot.
It's a dark world after all.

When times are the bleakest, that is the time when it is vital to hold on to your sense of humor. To remember your humanity. To laugh in the face of doom. I therefore have some advice for any who would cast spurious judgments on those whose public faces bear a smile.
Put a sock in it.

The Heirloom gown for Laurent is simply magnificent as the others are for the Oathlands.
I had no doubt, being familiar with Talia's work that it will be and yet my jaw dropped upon seeing it.
The attention to detail and the capturing of essence is beyond compare. I love that honeybee.
I am grateful she decided to share her talent and bring beauty to the world.
